Allegedly - wasn't part of the parting issue for Sitton his questioning of McCarthy? Not running enough I think.
WTF are you guys thinking? Sitton was CUT because he was deemed a cancer. You really think MM & the coaches who were here then are going to allow him to come back to GB?
Packers will likely look young rather than bring back an aging malcontent with an injury history.

The cancer may be in remission
Old coaching adage... "you can paint a zebra's stripes, but they always show through when it rains". They know what Sitton is & want no part of it.
I would absolutely have a look.
Have a look. Sometimes players learn the grass isn't always greener, even if they were cut. Depth for line, placeholder for future starter, whatever, he'd be worth a look at the right (low) price and if whomever interviewed him was convinced the cancer was in permanent remission.
I can't imagine Sitton wants to come be a veteran backup, he said he thinks he has prime years left. Also I don't know what his contract demands will be, but even if he takes vet minimum that's still $1 million+. Lucas Patrick has shown improvement, offers more versatility, and makes less than $500K. McCray looks to be an ascending player in the mold of Lane Taylor, I think he'll end up being the #1 RG and Patrick and Murphy will backup both spots.
Based on the comments Sitton made to the Chicago media he still views himself as starting material and expects to be paid accordingly. Odds of Josh being a Packer next year are only slightly better than those of Sam Shields.
What don't some of you guys get? Sitton was actively challenging coaches by refusing to do certain drills, loudly discussing contract matters in the locker room, and generally viewed as a bad influence on younger players & the team culture. They took a cap hit by cutting him, so pretty much paid him to NOT be here.....but now you want them to pay him to be here? I just heard Bill Polian talking about this subject last night. He said that the most important thing is team / organization culture, but it something that the bloggers & fans never think about when they speculate moves teams should make.
For what it's worth, this was discussed by Tauscher and whoever the other host is on espn Milwaukee. Both are totally for having a look. They said he very well could have changed his ways, 31 is not old, and he knows the Packer's system.
The Packers should have the competence to determine if he would be a detriment.
Another coaching adage "the best predictor of the future is the past". There is absolutely no way that a team brings a guy back that they cut because of attitude.

I remember rumors of why Sitton was released, but I don't ever remember hearing or reading anything that absolutely verified those rumors as true.
These things are not typically verified until after players have retired, but here is an article citing "sources" ; http://profootballtalk.nbcspor...-locker-room-cancer/
This and the fact that we CUT him, taking a cap hit & not getting a comp pick for him tells you that his attitude was deemed to be a big problem. As Vince used to say "I will tolerate you only until I can replace you"
Chiefs are expected to trade CB Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams, sources tell ESPN. Teams are in final stages of talks and barring an unexpected snag, the trade is expected to be agreed to as early as today.

Business is business.....if he wants to come back on the Packers terms and pay offer bring him back. He has been around and knows how the NFL operates and a shot another ring would be mighty appealing. As to his comments to the media would anyone expect him to say he was on his last legs and wants to be a back up?
Marcus Peters to the Rams likely means Trumaine Johnson will be moving on in FA.
You canât teach protection like this. Itâs simply a function of natural IQ. A LG reading a corner blitz from the opposite side and eliminating it after determining no threat.
This kid is going to be a star.
GB should give up whatever it takes to get him. Quenton Nelson is a football player. You want a guy like Quenton on your OL for the next decade.
NFL.com has he & Barkley rated the highest of all prospects in the draft
I think Barkley is the best player in the draft along side Ward. But Nelson is right there.
Its probably going to be a while before GB is in a draft position to even catch a whiff of a G whoâs better than Zach Martin. IMO you do what you need to do to get him.
Love his vision, to be on one side of the line and eliminate the guy coming on the other side. Vision, recognition, speed and smarts.
A pretty average QB getting Mike Glennon money
Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
The #Jaguars and QB Blake Bortles agreed on a 3-year new contract worth $54M that covers the 5th year option and two additional years, Iâm told. He was under contract for 2018 at $19M.

wonder why NFL teams make bad decisions with average QB's so often
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/...ng-him-through-2020/
I was honestly concerned they were going to inquire with Green Bay on what it would take to get Aaron Rodgers.
Glad that didn't happen.
They're welcome to inquire what it would take to get Hundley.
Congratulations Aaron Rodgers but you just keep getting richer by the day

Nobody would want to waste a perfectly good warm bucket of spit.

I don't think Bortles is a bad decision. The guaranteed money isn't much more than the fifth-year option and it appears they can get out of it in a year if he doesn't produce to their wants but if he does they keep him.
How bout the Packers pick up Keenum?? Or is he gonna be to expensive?? Or is that just out of the question?
Teddy or Bradford for the queens?
Whatever they do, they're still going to suck.
Skol!
Ok, let the speculation begin.
Wilkerson cut by Jets, I believe if my timeline is correct Pettine was the DC coordinator of the Jets when he had his best years. Most reports having him being a malcontent lately....probably still worth a look, at the right price.
Daniels, Clark, Lowery and Wilkerson on paper sounds very formidable.
How old is he now? Best years usually equate to younger years. Even so, that would be a legit "rush 4 and drop 7" DL.
Wilkerson is Albert Haynesworth redux. Quit once he got paid. I'm thinking the Pack will steer clear of malcontents because of Bennett.
Wilkerson is 28. But yes, the consensus is once he got paid, he put it all in neutral.
Wilkerson pushed Todd Bowles and the Jets coaching staff to the brink on multiple occasions. In the middle of an underwhelming 2016 season, Wilkerson skipped out on a team meeting, inadvertently missing his own birthday party, at which he was to be presented with a cake. "I'm told they even had a cake ready to go for him and he didn't show up," NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported at the time.
Near the end of the 2017 season, Wilkerson was benched for the first quarter of New York's win over Kansas City and didn't travel with the team to a game in New Orleans, as punishment for behavioral issues.
Jets brass and fans alike had had it with Wilkerson, who they perceived as putting in far less effort since securing his mega-deal. After signing the pact in 2016, the pass rusher recorded just eight sacks; if you do the math, Gang Green paid $4.6 million per sack.Ã
All malcontents are not created equal. Also, 'Packer People' used to be an elixir for these types. Not anymore?

Whatever.

Not since Woodson left. You need a strong leader to rein in/butt kick a guy like Wilkerson. There's not one guy on D today who everyone looks to as the leader and who commands that respect. Daniels is closest, but he's not an every-down player and he has a big mouth. Without that leader, you risk the malcontent taking over.
