As he probably should. Life is much easier with a good QB under center. I wonder also if BB being such an absolute prick to his QBs plays into it. It sounds like Brady responded well to that type of coaching but others may not. At least that’s been hinted at over the years and why veterans fared so well because they “knew” better how to deal with it.

Not to generalize but I wonder if the latest generation coming into the league is the most challenging for BB to deal with.  He may be a prick but he's also a thoughtful guy and supposedly a great teacher.  I have no idea what's going on in NE.

More on Wilson…

The Broncos are benching Wilson, sources confirmed to Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson, leaving open the possibility of moving on this offseason. Wilson's $37 million salary for 2025 becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2024 league year and is also guaranteed for injury, according to Spotrac. If Wilson were to suffer a major long-term injury in Week 17 or 18, that $37 million would be guaranteed. The Broncos want to keep their options open going into the offseason.

Who regrets the trade more - Russell Wilson or the Denver Broncos?

Pete Carroll is laughing his a** off.

And Seattle should be sending Gutey free trips to Cancun for a decade

Yeah, this isn't about winning or how he's playing. They are probably done with his fake ass personna and they just don't want him getting injured in the last two games.

Hearing Peyton call the move putting the team in the best position to succeed is a joke. No one is starting Stidham over Wilson to win games.

Things are getting ugly in Denver.  Russ says Broncos threatened to bench him if he didn't remove an injury guarantee from his contract.  This story broke yesterday but crazy that Russ confirmed it and gave more details today.  Don't usually see that.  Gotta love the end though, his quotes about winning championships.  Dude is delusional

Not as delusional as the Broncos. Asking the guy to give up 70 million if he got hurt? LOL! Isn’t that the reason for the guarantees? In case he gets hurt? They can even afford to cut him next year. Are they going to sit him the whole year?

Podcast: Athletic GM Show with Mike Sando and Randy Mueller

One of the best league view podcasts, imo. Get the perspective of a long time respected reporter and a GM that had to make consequential decisions. Skip to 48:03 for a discussion about Jaire and whether the younger coaches in the league are less likely to embrace the authoritarian style of leadership coaching sometimes requires. After that there's some talk about the Vikings QB situation.

Very strange news.
There's must be so much behind-the-scenes stuff that nobody knows about other than the ones directly involved.

As I see it, the Broncos have absolutely no leverage asking for any kind of concession. They're basically locked in to a terrible contract for the next 2 years.
There's no way they could eat $85M in dead cap next year, and $37M of his 2025 salary guarantees in 2024, so WTH can they do?

And I doubt the team approaches the player before his agent. What would anyone think his agent would say? They'd be dying from laughter!
Plus, what would be the benefit to Wilson for agreeing?

P.S. I'll try not to cry myself to sleep tonight for the Broncos.

Unless the Vikings decide to make a pitch for Wilson, I think Denver is stuck with him. And in MN, they are talking about bringing back Cousins next year. The GM has been trying to do a "soft rebuild" and with that and poor draft picks, he's put them in 8-9, 9-8 land for at least a couple more years. Without a QB -- except for Hall's sure-to-be HOF performance against Barry's D -- Jefferson isn't going to stick around and neither will Hunter.
