While the Packers could bring in a veteran to help mentor Love, the team has already brought in former Tennessee Volunteers QB Hendon Hooker for a top-30 visit.

Hooker isn’t the only quarterback prospect the Packers are bringing in for a visit. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky tweeted that the Packers are bringing in former Penn State starter Sean Clifford for a top-30 visit on Tuesday, April 11.

Clifford has been with the Nittany Lions since 2017, serving as the team’s starting quarterback for the last four seasons. He finished his career on a high note in 2022, going 11-2 as a starter with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions on his way to a Rose Bowl MVP.

At 24 years old, Clifford has plenty of starting experience that should help him at the next level, although his age and inconsistent production could lead to him going undrafted.

Hey guys why don't we think about getting Bisaccia for Head Coach when LaFleur hangs'em up ?    Just sayin' .

Hell yes!
I'd like to see him have a title like Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Special Teams Coordinator.
Watch him light Barry's ass up, and force him to sink or swim.

"The compensatory window closes on the Monday after the draft. This year, that means May 1. At that point, teams can start signing free agents without messing with their compensatory-pick bounty."

The NFL initiated the comp-pick system in 1994. Over those almost-three decades, the Packers have gained 49 additional picks. That trails only the Baltimore Ravens (55) and Dallas Cowboys (52).

The Packers have selected some real gems with those extra comp picks. Offensive lineman Zach Tom might join the likes of Josh Sitton, Mike Daniels, Blake Martinez and Dean Lowry as fourth-round hits. Aaron Jones was the best of the fifth-rounders. Center Scott Wells was a find in the seventh round. "

They write headlines specifically to enrage stooopid people and get them to click on their lame-ass site.

Don't be stupid.

Is anyone else shocked to see Bahktiari so critical of Rodgers?

https://heavy.com/sports/green...-rodgers-trade-jets/

I was surprised since Rodgers was in his wedding just last year. He made other candid remarks too. Maybe he was drinking some of that Budweiser truth serum. There's just going to be a bunch of negative remarks surfacing about Rodgers on his way out the door.

The first part was definitely a shot at Rodgers and the drama he's created over the past couple of years. The other stuff about GB sucking, it's hard to tell who he's taking a shot at. Part of it seems like it's Rodgers, but also the stuff about "we're going to do it on our terms" seems like it's him taking a shot at the FO?

I get the impression Bak isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. But I do think there's an element of Rodgers fatigue running throughout the organization including the locker room. If Bak says this publicly what are other players who aren't close to Rodgers saying privately?

@PackLandVA posted:

Not gonna lie.  Wouldn’t be surprised if this Bak playing with the media and AR knows all about it. Seems totally conceivable they’d be simpatico about F’ing with people/the media.

Just big kids having fun.

How about winning a big game now and then, that would be grate fun for all.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story...ts-trade-source-says

Baker informed the Cardinals in February that he wanted to be traded or receive a new deal to make him the highest-paid safety, the source said.

Baker is owed $13.1 million this season and $14.2 million in 2024 from a four-year, $59 million extension he signed in 2020 that made him the highest-paid NFL safety at the time.

What the hell YaYa, you don't think Baker and Hopkins would improve the Pack?  Or don't you think that is enough compensation for Rodgers?  Which is it?

I don't care if you give me a thumbs down on every post, just back it up with a sound reason.   Just don't be a prick.

From The Athletic

Tips on watching the game: ‘Find the grass.’

How we watch on TV is largely affected by the camera angles. Broadcasts tend to favor tight camera angles that are zoomed into wherever the ball is going. The problem is that there are 22 players on the field and oftentimes we can’t see the secondary and how the routes are developing downfield. Essentially, half of the story of the game is being hidden, especially with the ever-increasing usage of the passing game.

The NFL is starting to experiment with the usage of the sky cam, but based on backlash from fans I don’t anticipate a major change in how the game is shown. We can still watch the game smarter, but until fans are allowed to choose their own camera angles, we’ll have to take our clues where we can get them.

Chris Brown, the editor of Smart Football and one of the central figures in the evolution of how football is being covered more analytically, offers his advice:

“Before the snap, find the grass. A lot of people say to understand what’s really going on ‘watch the defense,’ or ‘watch the linebackers’ (partially on the theory that you will naturally find the ball) which is perfectly fine advice, but the reality is it’s a kind of odd way to watch an entire game or for more than just a few plays.

“The easier and to me just as interesting thing is to, before the snap, instead of watching the QB look at the sideline or whatever, is try to look at the defense and figure out where the “grass” is
— are they packed in tight and way off the receivers?
-----Are they spread out with big gaps/bubbles inside?
-----Is anyone covering the slot receiver?

Chances are that whatever you see is the same thing that the QB and offensive coordinator sees too, and you’ll be amazed at how often the ball goes to that open grass… as well as how often good defenses show open grass and then close it up fast. Then once the ball is snapped you can watch as normal, though now slightly more informed, fan.”

Always find the grass

Anybody got insight on vet TE Tyler Higbee ?

Currently a Ram;  he checks a lot of boxes in Titletown.
Knows the offense, veteran TE, worked with MLF previously.

Rams are in full on rebuild; they need cheep young talent, Higbee is a FA next year. GB could re-work his deal OR just use 2023 as a prove-it year
He's only under contract for 1 season, so that lessens his trade value.

Rams would probably take a 5th for a player who apparently needs an image consultant. Come on Tyler, you live in LA fer cripes sake

He's a solid receiver, decent wheels, okay blocker. He also should be free of the diversion program from the assault conviction he got prior to the draft, which hurt his draft stock with probably everybody but Jeff Fisher. Basically, he was drunk, punched a guy in the face, and ran from the cops while the guy suffered a serious concussion and head injury. IIRC he had to randomly test clean of drugs AND alcohol for five years, as well as not possessing/owning firearms.

“Rebuild”? Who said that we are in rebuilding mode? 😉

I don't see it as a rebuild either. The WR room is similar to last year where 3 were drafted. Lazard, Cobb, and Watkins? Those guys aren't hard to replace. There is also plenty of time to add vets throughout camp. A guy like Corey Davis could be on the street for a bargain price.

First line of the article:

"We’re a couple of weeks from the 2023 NFL Draft, and the only receivers on the Green Bay Packers’ roster are the ones they drafted in 2022."

I mean, if you completely ignore Bo Melton and Jeff Cotton, then yeah.
If you want to argue that Melton and Cotton aren't legitimate candidates for a final roster spot, fine, (though I think Melton probably is), but if you want to be a writer please don't start an article with a demonstrably false statement.

[To be clear, that rant was aimed at the author of the article that PackerPatrick linked, Brandon Virk, not PP.]

I don't think Gute would risk going full rebuild as Love already experienced a full rebuild team his senior year in college and was horrible.  Gute is going to try to give him a team good enough to have have some success to build confidence and see what he has.

Now I think the days of keeping older players with not a great deal of upside around are gone.
