It will be really interesting to see if one receiver emerges as a #1 in 24, or if Love keeps spreading it evenly.  Also interesting to see how defenses try to counter MLF's 'non-hierarchical' passing attack.  Will that counter force a #1 to emerge?  A #1 can get open no matter what the D throws at him.

What could packers get by dangling this year's #1. Chiefs gave Sneed permission to seek trade. Would that get a deal done? Would packers be interested? Trade for a veteran safety?  Anybody interesting available?

I'm not a fan of trading high picks for veterans because in addition to the draft comp, you're having to pay the veteran market value as well.  That's why draft picks are so valuable - you can get a player at a cost controlled number for minimum of 3 years.  Of course you can get the draft wrong but you can also get a veteran wrong.  And while bust risk is higher in the draft, a vet also has steeper cap ramifications.

Specifically for Sneed - he's is going to cost at least a first round pick AND a $20m+ per year contract.  Jaire is already making $21m per year (highest average salary per year for a CB).  I don't think it makes sense to have the two most expensive CBs in the league, let alone give up a first rounder to make it happen.

Probably doesn't make as much sense for a highly paid premium position like CB, but Gute was offering a 2nd for Jonathan Taylor and his RB pay was workable.

Starting CB pay is double the RB rate, so that's a tougher pill to swallow.

Here's a list of the 2024 draft picks that were traded for players, some decent value in there in round 3, 4, 5

I hope Love keeps taking what the defense gives him

I understand the sentiment and the call back to previous QBs, but at some point the offense is good enough to take what it wants, whenever it wants to...

Remember Tauscher telling the opposing DL what was coming and they still couldn't stop it ? That was a blast to watch and simultaneously emasculating for the defense.

M ‘Two Rings’ VS.

I suspect MVS will have a nice career, comparatively speaking.
There will always be some team that will be in love with his speed, and he'll sign relatively short contracts for modest dollars. He will never be one to be "a #1", but will have some moments.
I can actually see some competition from the teams that will draft a QB or have one as a 2nd year starter to sign him.

He should consult Willie Mays for making over-the-shoulder catches.

If you are going to trade, maybe give the Cardinals a call about Buddha Baker.  He’s in the final year of his deal at 14M, and Arizona won’t spend the money to extend him.

Packers offer a 2nd rounder?

Excellent DT, he's gonna get paid

OTC has Wilkins valuation at $16M per season  ( looking back at performance)
Spotrac has his valuation at $ 20.2M per season based on current market

By comparison, Devonte Wyatt is earning only $1.8M per season and has a valuation from OTC of $ 7.3M

I'm loathe to box score scout... but Wyatt had 5.5 sacks last year playing only
47 % of the snaps, Wilkins had 9 sacks playing 91 % of defensive snaps.

Wilkins will cost 10X the cash in 2024.

My only point was he has had a great career if being on winning teams is important.

Better than Mark Duper and Mark Clayton combined

also, this made me look it up.  Dolphins have been a horrible franchise at WR.  Tyreke Hill will be a top 10 Dolphin WR by game 4 next year.

they should work on that play - raise the bar out there

like when kelce threw back to .. that receiver at the end of that game but it didn't count.   that could be the future with the over pursuit speed gang tackling.  caveat:  with the right players

How bad are our receivers and tight ends? Just think what Love could have accomplished this season if he had a few competent players to throw to. Even in Madden Musgrave ran the wrong route. No way two catchers should be that close together.

Broncos trade Jerry Jeudy to to the Browns for 5th and 6th round picks.  Broncos fans held out hope for 4 years that Jeudy would live up to his draft slot.  Never happened. Pick looks a lot worse too b/c Broncos took him over CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson.  Picks are pretty minor in this trade, more important that the Broncos shed Jeudy's 5th year guarantee (around $14m).

At this point you have to ask - why did Sean Payton take this job? First year has a losing record, gives a brutal interview that he has to apologize for, then gets into a public spat with his QB that ends up involving the NFLPA. Goes into the offseason and cuts his QB and all-pro safety, and trades his #2 WR.  They're in cap hell and have already said publicly that they're not going to be players on day 1 of free agency. They're lacking in draft capital b/c of the Payton trade and have no young talent b/c of the Wilson and Payton trades. There is one blue chip player on this team - Pat Surtain II - and you'd have to stretch to find a single red chip guy. Have to ask - did Payton just come back for the money and attention?

Rule changes for the 2024 season?

Can anyone imagine the clusterf**k that will result in the refs calling an "illegal tackle"?

Ben Dreith called illegal socks on Jack Tatum when the Raiders played in Buffalo once .

Yeah, I'm not scanning anything to read some stupid article. They would have much better success if they just asked me to download a virus to my phone.
