@AdamSchefter:  Mike McCarthy is not expected to return to Dallas and is now set to become a free agent, per source. The two sides engaged in no discussions about a new deal, and McCarthy is expected to be a candidate in Chicago and New Orleans.

So, Jerry Jones was just being a dick in denying him permission to talk to the Bears last week?

Cue the Deion Sanders to the Cowboys rumors...

MM has Jerruh right where he wants him now.

Jerruh will probably try to low ball MM with a 3 year deal & MM will tell him 5 years or I'll go elsewhere or retire.

3 straight years with 12 wins in this league. He's proven himself a damn good regular season head coach in Dallas.

Called it!

Rumors yes, but I don't see Sanders going there without a big detailed prenup.

MM would be one of the best possible outcomes for Caleb Williams. Footwork and fundamentals are what Williams needs work on.

MM might not provide the highest ceiling for the Bears overall record, but if you want to set up Williams for long-term success, MM is your best bet if they can't get Ben Johnson.

I said in another thread that the Bears and CW both need stability and a good foundation.  Like you said, he may not have the high ceiling you want but he should be able to do everything else.  You just have to wonder if after dealing with JJ for years, if he's had enough of working for a meddling family ownership or if he's like "If I can handle JJ, I can handle the McCaskeys".

Who knows what the truth is, but I have read where Sanders said if he coaches in the NFL, it would be only to coach his sons.
If that is actually true, I want to see what his plan for Dak would be.
His cap hit for 2025 is only $90M.
And I don't know that the junior Sanders' ego will allow for him to sit for a year.
Ditto for the senior Sanders.

What a fucking joke. I thought even Jerry had more sense than this. If you think the Cowboys already get too much coverage now…

And fuck this “Coach Prime” shit. Egomaniac insists on being called that and publicly stiffs and demeans media who have addressed him as Coach Sanders.

@Schultz_Report:   Sources: #Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has spoken with Colorado HC Deion Sanders about the team’s head coaching vacancy, and discussions are expected to continue regarding the possibility of him becoming the next head coach in Dallas.

Coach Prime is considered a top candidate, though the Cowboys plan to interview other candidates as part of the process, per team sources.

What a disaster that would be. PLEASE make it happen, Jerry!!!

So if Sanders, (I refuse to call him Prime) takes the job in Dallas just think of all the players who went to Colorado in the transfer portal and now Sanders might not be there.  They will be playing for a coach they might not want to play for in a place they really don't want to be.  All this because of Sanders greed and ego.

If I was an NFL coach I would want no part of coaching for Dallas.  Sure its a glamour position but will you ever really be given a chance to win?  Jerruh just wants to feed his ego and wants a lap dog for a coach.

My f&*cking god if Sanders goes to Dallas can you imagine how even more nauseating ESPN will be?  They are already awful with the constant Cowpies coverage, but it would be ramped up even more.

Ammo, the players that transferred into Colorado to play for him will just hit the portal again and find another team and then Colorado will suck again.

Not to defend Sanders because I think he’s a jackass, but it’s not uncommon for coaches to bail out on their teams for better opportunities. Players are doing it too nowadays.

If Jerry hires Sanders, that just proves to me that winning another SB is not Jerry’s main motivation.

Jerruhs main motivation is for everyone to stroke his ego and slobber all over his team which hasn't been truly relevant in 30 years.

Jerry is doing just fine, check out his worth, check out his initial investment in the team, check the stadium’s success and last of all he is in the headlines every day.  This is his real meth, money and fame.

Winning a SB would only be the icing on his cake.  He is doing just fine.

@AlbertBreer:    Per source, the Jets have requested to interview Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley for their HC job. The Jersey native has four years of head coaching experience, at Boston College (2020-23), and led a Top 5 unit this year.

Looks like that one happens end of this week.

NOTE: I’ve lost count of how many HC interviews the Jets have had this cycle but it’s in the neighborhood of 10. Same with the GM position.

If Hafley gets the gig, what does MLF do?

McCarthy had his interview with the Bears, unless he messed it up, he'll be their next HC. This was the 12th interview for the HC position by the Bears, besting the Jets number of 8 to date.

Obviously, MLF is not going anywhere, but which would you rather have.

1. Keep Hafley, and find a new head coach/OC

2. Keep MLF, and have to find a new DC

Gotta keep MLF at least through the Murphy/Policy transition.
It wouldn't make any sense for a coach to accept a position that essentially comes with 'lame duck' status.
If Policy wants to replace MLF, so be it.

Of course, this supposes that either Hafley and/or Saleh haven't gone elsewhere and that either of them would be the guy Policy wants.

The only sense Jerruh has is how to print money and have an ego twice the size of Texas.

I kind of expect this to happen and Jerruh will sit back and soak in the adoration from ESPN

Wonder if Ryan Day or Marcus Freeman are in the mix for any of the teams “searching”

Get away from NIL and transfer portal

I honestly could see Day walk away from OSU and their fans after what they put him and his family through after the Michigan losses.  I also think we will start to see more college coaches like Hafley walk away from the college wild west s**t show and just want to go back to just coaching not dealing with NIL.

Jerruh's ego is so huge that he thinks there is no way a coach wouldn't want to work for him.  I hope MM gives him the finger and moves on and comes back to haunt Jones.

But honestly who would want the Cowboys job?  You will have an owner who thinks they a good GM and will meddle in everything you do and expect you to be his lap dog.

Maybe Eberflus....BWAHAHAHA!!!

Hafley has to prove he can get his Defensive system to work, prior to going after a HC job, anywhere. I saw lot of Barry-like schemes on the field, this past season, that would tend to make me have second thoughts about seeing Hafley as a HC. He needs Gute to draft 4-3 scheme defenders to show how his system works. So far, Hafley hasn't shown anyone anything, regarding any DC skills he may have, let alone any HC abilities.

I think anyone watching the D in 2023 compared to 2024 knows that Hafley is a good coach. Is he ready to be an HC in the NFL? I would say no, not yet. But give him a year and if he keeps improving, he'll be gone.

It would be nice if Saleh steps in if someone does hire Hafley, but he would be more interested in being an HC than a DC.

GB's DC isn't the only line on Hafley's resume.  He apparently has drawn notice because of the job he did building the program at BC as HC.  I forgot where I heard that, somewhere on the radio.  He's also been around the NFL as a DB coach.

I don't know that he's ready to be a HC in the NFL either but his background isn't that devoid of experience.
