I would bet it would make a great "30 for 30" type documentary on ESPN some day.

As I said in another thread, why would the Big 10 still want Northwestern in the conference if they don't want Cal and Stanford? Are there really that many people in the Chicago area that watch the Big 10 specifically because of Northwestern?

I think that's your answer. A team located in a metro area with a population almost double the size of all of Wisconsin will draw a fair number of extremely rich eyes. Population of Palo Alto? Less that 70K. Berkeley? 120K.

Saw Vegas has the jets over/under On wins this season at 9.5. I’m not sure 10 wins gets them to the playoffs and 9 sure as hell won’t.

And Packers over/under is 7.5.  For as much as the Jets are being crowned and the Packers are being clowned, that's an awfully close over/under.  Maybe vegas knows something the media doesn't.

I hate every one of you.

And I have taken notes.

And DH13, thanks for the offer. Mrs.Kiel has been perusing Google Earth on my behalf for days..I can walk to Trader Joe’s!

For the record, I am babysitting my daughter’s dog with lymphoma while she and her husband go on a Northwestern trip.

I am not currently planning any murders.

Too bad the Kiel-ette is married.  You could have become in-laws if they had met on campus.

My son has a long-term significant other as well.

Ironically, my son has almost no interest in watching sports even though he was pretty good at them in high school, but can talk your ear off about politics and estate-tax laws.

I never expected my son wouldn't care about professional sports but our two daughters border on obsessiveness.

On the other hand, my oldest daughter is a die-hard Packer fan who has flown into Green Bay to attend games and has converted her Georgia-born sports fanatic husband from a Falcons fan to a Packers fan. Keep in mind, my daughter has never lived in Wisconsin.  She has no interest in the Bucks or Brewers, however.

My younger daughter and her husband are also Packers fans. They live in Baltimore and went to the 31-30 Packer win in Baltimore a couple of seasons ago.

We definitely need a Northwestern fan forum!  Best of luck to your son…sorry he didn’t get into a good school. πŸ˜€

The fact that Northwestern is the Big 10 school with the biggest current athletic scandals would not have been on my Bingo card. If I would have predicted which schools were most likely to have a scandal causing them to fire their football coach, I think Northwestern would have been the 14th most likely one on my list.

We just haven’t found out about other educational institutions yet.  I’m sure most have some sort of hazing rituals, we just haven’t heard yet.

The β€œeverything is awesome” vibe that Aaron Rodgers hopes to display for Green Bay has its limits.

Via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, the Jets’ starting quarterback had a rough practice on Tuesday.

Per Cimini, Rodgers completed only eight of 20 passes for the first-team offense. Cimini writes that pass protection β€œwas spotty,” that there were a β€œcouple of drops,” that Rodgers β€œmisfired at times,” and "[a]ppeared frustrated.”

At one point, Rodgers threw seven straight incompletions.

The good news is that Rodgers and Wilson connected for a red-zone touchdown.

It’s just one practice. But it’s a reminder that, despite the effort to paint everything about Rodgers and the Jets as being glass half (or fully) full, it could still run empty once the season gets started. Especially in light of the team’s schedule.

They could always trade their 2025 first for Clifford.
