Rodgers had a lot of unforced errors last season and that is what I think the Jets will find out. Many times on swing passes he forced the RB to break stride and he underthrew a lot of passes that were once a sure thing. He was inconsistent last year and I expect that to continue. 65% and 8-9!

A lot will depend on how good his offensive line will be. It doesn't look that promising right now.

Even the line can't fix what happened last year. Those quick hitters to the WR and swing passes to the RB were behind the receiver or bounced. He lost something last year and I think the Jets will see that. He's not the super accurate passer anymore.

The Jets signing Cook was a head-scratcher. He's not going to be ready for a bit from the shoulder injury, he has an abuse case hanging over his head (he offered her $1 million to clear him), he's a lousy blocker, he fumbles, and he doesn't catch out of the backfield very well, and he's a two-down back unless it's less than 2 yards. We've known this about Cook for several years, and it doesn't seem like the market is rushing to sign him either. Am I missing anything?

Here's a great article on how Cook is not a great spend: Boo on Cook!

I'm glad it's not my $8+ million the Jets are spending.

(BTW, the graphic in the article showing expected yds/carry is pretty cool and has Jones at #5 out of 52 and Dillon at #9. Cook is #52.)

Is there something wrong with Breece Hall? He's #1 on the chart in the article. I know Hall tore his ACL, but  thought he was on the road to recovery. Why spend the $ on Cook, at all? I never felt that Cook was that big of a threat to the Packers' defense. Maybe that is because I despise the vikings, so much. The Jets must have money to burn. I cannot see Cook lasting more than one season, in NY, if that.

What the Jets are doing reminds me of the Redskins when Snyder first took over.  They signed a bunch of big name veterans thinking that would make them a contender.  Turns out they were has-beens that didn’t amount to much.  I think we’re going to get a nice draft pick from them next year.

Jets bailing on Day 2 of joint practices with the Bucs. Lol. It couldn’t be because the Bucs DL just manhandled the Jets OL on Day 1

@NFLSTROUD:  Bucs arrive at the NY Giants training complex across from MetLife Stadium for practice. The NY Jets bailed on a second day of joint practices, something that apparently was agreed to in March. So the Giants graciously offered their practice field.

I think a shaky OL might be the one element that prevents a team like the Jets from going far in the playoffs.   I know it’s preseason, but that OL is mediocre at best from what I’ve read.

Now, their DL might be top 3 in the league.  Their overall defense should be really good, and if Rodgers can continue not turning the ball over they will be in just about any game.  But having an OL that can’t hold up isn’t a good development for an older QB like Rodgers.

If I’m the Jets I’m calling the Packers to see about Bak or other OL trade options.  And if I’m the Packers, I ask for maximum return in the form of draft picks.

That brings to mind a little bit of human nature. While I am as close to perfect as any being in this forum aside from Fedya, in my life, when I was the recipient of “that look” from either a teacher, coach, teammate or in very rare instances 😀, a wife , it did not help build a good relationship. All those fucking millions and Aaron has not yet figured that out.

The interior is/should be pretty good, but I don’t think either of their starting LT candidates (Becton, Brown) are practicing yet (both coming off injuries) and rookie Carter Warren isn’t ready to step in there against NFL starters.

Hall’s not likely to be 100% until mid way through the season. Meanwhile Cook’s experienced, still talented and disposable.

I tried to tell someone that very thing today.

Hall was activated the day Cook was signed.

He was, but they’d be foolish to give him a full load early. Hall has a future, Cook is chum and hedges a setback. Saleh comes from San Fran, remember, and they were always ready to churn backs as needed, as well.

They took him off the PUP and hope to have him ready by the opener. Could be fluff and they signed Cook to cover the first couple weeks but didn't want Hall to sit out 1/3 of the season on the PUP.

Dalvin Cook says it was Rodgers presence that lured him to the Jets. Bullshit, it was $8 Million!!!

Right, he waded through all the other $8 million offers to play with Rodgers. I still can't believe he go that much money. I think the Jets were bidding against themselves.

The Eagles dream team as well. The streets of Philly still echo with folk tales about Vince Young and Nnamdi Asomugha.
