Following up on Rusty's post:

@AdamSchefter: Oakland Raiders now have hired HC Jack Del Rio, as @mortreport reported they would.

Makes little sense to me. Sure wish the Raiders were relevant again.

@AdamSchefter: 49ers set to promote DL coach Jim Tomsula to head coach, per sources. Still ironing out details, but Tomsula expected to be 49ers next HC.

Internal hire. No wonder, the window is closed.

ADD:

@JasonLaCanfora: If Jim Tomsula signs a head coaching contract with the 49ers, look for Vic Fangio to quickly emerge as a DC candidate for the Skins.

Washington is fortunate if this is true.

Nothing but a yes man. Doesn't want anything to do with talent eval or player selection in the draft.

Now it's all Baalke & York....just the way they wanted it with Harbaugh.

It might not be Elway's call with respect to Manning.  Manning may wait and see who is hired as the next HC before he "decides".  Unless Elway makes Manning a part of the search and hiring committee, I see Manning taking his football and going elsewhere.

Remember, the Packers had to say they wanted TOG to come back too.  And in some respects they did want TOG to return as I do think the Broncos may want Manning to return in some respects.  My guess is that Elway wants to save some face and have Manning give it one more shot.  On the other hand, Elway knows if Manning returns and he cannot make it work, Elway will take a bit hit on credibility and the Broncos will have wasted a ton of money on a 39 year old has-been.

I saw Jed York say he wanted a "Teacher" that "could do more with less"

Harbaugh was a prick but a great teacher and doing more with less is no glowing endorsement of the job Baalke is doing.

York has done an incredible job of killing a potentially great team. Very impressive.

They got their puppet in place. Just in case you don't know, Harbaugh was told to "retain" Tomsula when he was first hired.

Looks like York panicked. Those idiots can trumpet the "exhaustive search" meme all they want. We're not stupid.

I'd like to see the Raiders be relative again, too.  I'm surprised at the candidates that the Raiders interviewed, not an impressive list.  Did McKenzie have any involvement, or is he a really bad GM from that standpoint?

The 49ers are going back to the cellar.  I think Arians and Carroll will be dueling it out for the top of the NFCW the next couple seasons.

this was posted somewhere here yesterday about the Raiders hire:

Madden's role in Raiders' decision to hire Del Rio was big, even bigger than GM Reggie McKenzie. Madden ultimately decided against Sparano.

Dan Quinn can't be happy watching these jobs get locked up and he's outside looking in. It's pretty much down to Denver and Atlanta. And Denver isn't on anyone's dream list now that Elway is behaving like a lunatic.

Let's hope he's as distracted as a certain Mike Holmgren was in a Super Bowl a long time ago...

Holy balls that Tomsula dude is crazy WEIRD.  Like Serial Killer weird.  Like Rainman weird.

As for John Fox, I think Drew Magary summed it up my thoughts  best yesterday,

"Hey, that guy got out-coached every time he made the playoffs despite having Peyton Manning! WE MUST HAVE HIM."

The Bears wanted a veteran head coach because Pace is not even 40 yet.

Why isn't Pace hiring his own head coach?

So glad we have TT & MM. Jeezus....what a disaster in Chicago & SF.
