I would love to see Aranda stay but I don't think it's very likely unless Alvarez makes him the head coach, and I'd guess he'd be way down on the list of candidates.

Who stays and who goes?  I think you can divide the coaches up into two groups:

Group One (coaches that either came to Wisconsin from Utah State or would be considered west coast guys)

-Dave Aranda - Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers

-Andy Ludwig - Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks

-Bill Busch - Safeties

-Chad Kauha'aha'a - Defensive Line

-T.J. Woods - Offensive Line

Group Two (coaches that didn't come to Wisconsin from Utah State and would be considered midwest or east coast guys)

-Chris Beatty - Wide Receivers

-Thomas Brown - Running Backs

-Jeff Genyk - Tight Ends/Special Teams Coordinator

-Ben Strickland - Cornerbacks

It will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

In a surprising development, 4-star running back Jordan Stevenson just flipped his commitment from Texas to Wisconsin.

Hard to figure after all the drama in Madison yesterday, but it just goes to show that nothing is ever predictable when it comes to football recruiting.

This is also very good news for Bucky.  The Badgers already had one running back commitment for 2015, Davon Crookshank, but rumors are flying that his grades might cause him to decommit.

Will he bring Charlie Strong with him?   One can dream.

Considering Flash Gordon is going pro, not too surprising.

I don't believe PJ White got drafted, but I could be rong on that one.  I'm pretty sure John Clay didn't get drafted.  I think he went to Pittsburgh as a UDFA and didn't make the cut.

One thing I was talking about with someone recently is despite the litany of top running backs in Madison, almost none of them have ever done a thing in the NFL.  Perhaps the best guy in the pros was Terrell Fletcher, and he was more of a third down back/kick returner type.  Michael Bennett had a couple of good years as well.  Other than that, not much.

I had forgotten about PJ Hill, and you're right on Clay, I thought he had been a late-round flier by Pittsburgh.

Dayne had a pretty decent career of seven years, Fletcher eight, Aaron Stecker had 10 and Michael Bennett stuck around for 11. Dayne had a lot of mileage but had some success in Houston in a ZBS, Hill and Clay didn't really have pro speed/quicks though.

PJ Hill is easy to forget.  Almost as easy to forget as the Immortal Carl McCullough from Cretin-Derham.

Other than those couple of years by Bennett with the Queens, though, none of those guys was ever a bell cow for a team.  Dayne never even got to 800 yards in a season.

That's why IMHO UW is an OL school, not necessarily a RB school, at least when you look at who has done what in the NFL.  There are Bucky OL on rosters all over the league.

I still maintain that Dayne would have been much better in the pros IF they used him like they did in college as the feature back.  He did his damage by pounding on defenses and then also had enough speed to break a big run when they were tired of being pounded on.  He had a lot of miles on him, so he may not have lasted long anyway...

But they tried to make him a short-yardage power back and that was NOT his game.  He needed volume of carries to be successful, not a couple here and there in short yards or goal line situation.

You could also argue historically that UW has been a better school for NFL WR and TE than RBs. Chris Chambers and Lee Evans were Pro Bowl level WRs. At least 6-7 other WRs made NFL rosters during the last decade. Owen Daniels, Lance Kendricks, Garrett Graham, and Travis Beckum all played at least 4-5 years as NFL TEs. That's a pretty good track record for a school with a reputation for just handing the ball off.

The problem with Dayne was that he was no threat as receiver out of the backfield. He got almost 1000 NFL carries and had 57 receptions (at 6 yards/reception and no receiving TDs) in his career. It was a pretty easy offensive tendency to key on if he was in the game. Eddie Lacy, a similarly sized back has 472 career carries and already has 71 receptions (9 yards/reception including 4 for TDs).

Look at Dayne's OL at Wisconsin his senior year. Every single starter on the OL played in the NFL.

Maybe, he doesn't like Anderson?  Curious move.
