Quick takes on Panthers from ESPN.com article on the undefeateds:

Carolina Panthers

What has made them great: The Panthers' defense has been elite with the exception of a second-half fade Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts. It is allowing 4.69 yards per play, second best in the NFL, and has made up for any mistakes by forcing 17 turnovers, tied for third in the league. The Panthers have top-end play on every level, from defensive tackle Kawann Short to linebacker Luke Kuechly to cornerback Josh Norman, and opposing quarterbacks have posted the league's fourth-lowest QBR against them (43.0).

What will make them lose: Cam Newton has generated MVP talk as the quarterback of an undefeated team, and his unique skill set as a power runner is impressive. But his passing remains inconsistent, even in the context of a weak set of receivers; nearly half of his first-half throws Monday night were deemed off target by ESPN Stats & Information video analysis. Newton's overall completion percentage of 54.2 ranks No. 32 in the NFL. It's true that the Panthers have the NFL's fifth-highest drop percentage (5.2), but Newton has either under- or overthrown his receivers on 23.7 percent of his throws -- the third-highest mark in the league. The numbers suggest there will be a game at some point when Newton will fail to make a throw the Panthers need to remain undefeated.

Could not agree more.

Win and we're the #1 seed in a NFC that is suddenly filled with a lot of bad teams.

Lose and we face upcoming road games against 3 winning teams (Vikes, Cardinals, and Raiders) while already down 2.5 to the Panthers for HFA.

This, not Denver, is the big game.

The only stat that matters is the Panthers have won 11 straight regular season games. The last game that they lost was to a better team in Seattle.  IMO the Packers are the better team but any team with any QB that has this record in recent games has got to be pretty good.  It may not be pretty but they are winning.

I don't see the problem, after 3 downs, move the chains. All day long! Masthay should stay home

**** Carolina.

Yup, and I'm as frustrated with the scheme as anyone.  My biggest disappointment was no seemingly new schemes after the bye week.

I expect a whole lot of spitfire and vitriol from the team next week.  I will hold my total judgment, but at this point, I hope to see something new and some BFFI.

You know what the extra F is for.

It's not that they lost, it's how they lost that's bothersome. Coming on the heels of the almost disaster against SD, it's troubling that they didn't get some things straightened out over the bye. Hard-fought losses are going to happen and aren't a cause for worry; performances like the last two games are troubling.

chresus jist

Exactly,,,geez

Don't give a sht about the Panthers.   All I care about is whether or not the Packers are going to get their collective heads out of their collective asses and play like Packers and run over the panthers. I WANT ROAD KILL!!!!

I look forward to all the analysis of what other teams were able to accomplish against the Panthers and then watch the Packers do exactly the opposite.  I think Clements blew his wad already.  That Solari slug is pure gold as well.

Let's stay away from coaching geniuses that have obviously benefited from years a team being horrible and loading up on high draft picks.

Boot needs a ****ing boot.

Hell Yes!!!!!!

Many here, along with Dougherty, Baranczyk, and Rodger's brother say the Packers need to scheme to get their guys open. The boot says it's not scheme.

In the Official 2015 Prediction thread I said the boot doesn't use the boot on himself, I'm standing by that. Pittsburgh Macho

Fat chance of that happening. He seems to prefer buying the latest years car every year and then keeping his old car until it's about a year away from dying.

I realize that & expect us to win this game, but Anyone would be hard pressed to consider us a "favorite" in this game.

Interesting comment by the AFC scout in that article, "....Green Bay has been on a decline since week 4." I don't know if that's enough to start drawing a curve, but I'm hoping the Denver game was the eye-opener for MM. You can't just keep whistling through the graveyard as the receiving corps keeps getting beat up. AR is still the heart of this team.  If there's a time to do something different to get back on track, be it scheming or just lighting a fire under somebody, this is it. The players have to be motivated for some redemption here.

Hateful.

I'm puzzled why people are surprised we lost. The first half of this season looked like a terrible gauntlet for this team to run full of great rushing attacks and fierce pass rushers. We can go back and look at the preseason prediction thread, but I would be shocked if the majority here predicted 8-0 by the midpoint...more than likely everyone realized we would drop one, maybe two games by this time. I'm thrilled that we are 6-1, that kind of fast start will serve us well come January. I don't like the way we lost either, but this is still a good team that is capable of beating anyone. Many here thought the season was over after New Orleans last year and we ended up one boneheaded TE away from the Super Bowl. This is still a good team that should be favored in every game this season.

It isn't the loss, it's the way they lost.

You can call it Seattle PTSD but when this team loses they go all in.

I wouldn't say people are puzzled why they lost. I would say that people are puzzled by the complete domination on both sides of the ball almost from opening kickoff.

If you want to compare this to the NO game from last year, go ahead. But at least the offense showed up.

I'm pretty sure the posters here have your same view of team but have the belief (or the willingness) to discuss it's weaknesses from personnel to front office decision making. Welcome to sports fandom.
