DaVante was talking to reporters when James Jones walked by and said "get open" and just kept walking.

I can't get past Bill B breaking down Denver - GB tape and getting pissed thinking he might be watching a huge middle finger.

I don't know. This weekend is only half the season. Denver might have been a Looky-Lou a Tess and a bundle of joy.

Lot of football left.

Would you happen to have a link? I missed that.

Interesting sound clip with Homer/Wilde.

Something is definitely up. It will translate on the field too.

If they play like crap again at Carolina, there is a huge problem at 1265.

Thinking out loud. ...I wonder if my prediction from last week was 1 week too soon. (Rhetorical)

First Q&A from a JSO chat yesterday:

Q: C.R., Sampson County, NC - Bob do you really think that this bunch of Packers can even come close to winning a Super Bowl? They are awful!!!

A: Bob McGinn - Good afternoon to all. Let's get this crackin' ... C.R: Not only do I think the Packers can come close to winning the Super Bowl, I think they can and, barring an injury at quarterback or inside linebacker, maybe should win the Super Bowl. This is an excellent team.

Nor your fault cuqui.

Something up with the way the Web page is screwing up the code from out posts

I see a Carolina fan snuck into Bobs chat.

That's nice

If you're a Packer fan I think it's very hypocritical to make light of Cam Newton or his wardrobe.

In defense of MM though, I think everyone needs to relax. Do you know how long an NFL season is? I think those franchises that succeed on a consistent basis are those led by coaches and GM's who consistently put their teams into a position to play for a championship. That's what we have here in Green Bay. Once the post season begins it can be a crap shoot, but you have to be there to have the opportunity. No one is winning SB's every year given the state of the league. Be fan, be critical if you want, but also look at the bigger picture.

That's way too simplified after rereading, but it's truth. Lots of ebbs and flows in an NFL season. Just get in an advantageous position to play for the trophy and go from there. Recent history in this league has proved that true. And no that picture has not been altered.

WTF Cam?

Players -vs- Media

Always entertaining.

Cohen writes a story about Guion that Wilde later comments on why the FL source seemed so intent on getting someone in GB to write it. Said something seemed hinky.

McCarthy calls the story garbage.

McGinn stands up for his little buddy.

Players shut out the media in the locker room after a loss and some negatively toned stories questioning if the players are doing their jobs - get open, win 1-on-1's, block better, tackle/wrap-up.

Media cries foul that the players are bullies for not talking in the locker room. Maybe the players would like to see someone like Cohen do his job and dig deeper before writing what now looks like a very one-sided report to the events.

Bunch of 5th grade girls getting their feelings hurt, both sides.

I have Seattle PTSD. There is no relaxing. I may never be whole again.

You obviously don't know where I post from these days.

Very interesting this week vs. Carolina.

The Packers losing, especially in the same fashion as vs. Denver, creates a very compelling story-line.

Just another challenge to overcome.

I agree.  I can't remember this much angst and controversy after a loss in a while. It's not like GB hasn't been smoked in a regular season game recently. See Seattle last year. If anything it will be telling to a point how they respond.

Cobb seemed to be the only one fired up sunday night.

I think there is a difference between a good team playing well for a while and having an off day, and a good team not playing well for a while and having an off day.  DEN wasn't just a blip on the radar, it was the biggest blip along a series of them.

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's pre-practice press conference Thursday morning:

  • (On Montgomery) Went through rehab phase yesterday and will try to do more. Will try to get more of a read on him.
  • (On Clay Matthews) Clay looked good, so did everything that was asked for him. So far, so good.Went through the rehab phase and will try to do more today. Will try to get more of a read on him.

  • (On protection) Really, offensively, it's like anything on both sides of the ball it starts with the run. That carries over to making protection better. You don't run the football, your total plays are down, you're eliminating a lot of your action passes. I think basically offensively is get through more of our concepts. Protection as a whole, it's a general question. We're a good production unit.
  • (On  getting to call sheet) Every week goes through week with number of things you want to run on Sunday. History will tell you you're low in total plays, it's harder to get to what you want to get to.
  • (On Cobb pushing too hard) He pours his heart and soul into the game. Not looking for guys to come out of themselves and be soemone else. Randall just needs to be Randall Cobb. Frankly, I think he played pretty well against Denver. He just needs to keep doing what he's doing.
  • (On this week) It's just a matter of getting back to your identity, playing faster. This is how it goes, that's part of the challenge. We're focused on Carolina. You guys are doing a good job trying to distract our players from the Carolina game talking about Denver.
  • (On facing run defenses) When you let them dictate to you with their defense what you can and can't do then your plan is not sound. Whether they're playing base defense and you're playing sub, there's still ways to run the football.

@WesHod: Clay Matthews in pads Thursday. Ty Montgomery (ankle) also practicing.

@WesHod: Sam Shields (shoulder) and Quinten Rollins (neck) not practicing. Aaron Ripkowski returned from illness.

Thanks bud. I hadn't heard. I generally like his reporting.

He lost me when he worked his dog pooping in the yard into his Packer twitter feeds...and every other post about how cute his kids are...and how wonderful his wife is...and how great it was to get an apron for Fathers day. (ok I made that one up)

Geez I wonder why a locker room full of alpha dogs  wouldn't just love everything this Beta F'tard writes.

I don't know, it seems to me the players like Wilde more than most of the other beat writers. JW is not one to confront them and is more often to write the softer side of sports type stories.

Hmmmmm.....a little more 'behind the story' comments?

"It happened on the second punt," Rollins said. "Emmanuel Sanders was kind of waving it off but then he ended up catching it. I hit him from behind and somebody hit him from the front."

Rollins was on the ground wrapping up Sanders when safety Chris Banjo hit Sanders, causing his body to strike Rollins' head. His neck got pushed back and despite knowing something was wrong, he got up and walked off the field.

"I didn't want to be one of those guys lying around, all eyes on you," Rollins said. "I'll get off the field and let them handle me on the sidelines."

Rollins was taken into the locker room and after being examined had his neck X-rayed. He said there was no damage to any of his vertebrae. The medical staff told him to shower because they weren't going to allow him to go back in the game with a neck injury.

Asked if thoughts of a serious injury went through his head before the X rays, Rollins said he wasn't sure what to expect.

"I didn't know," he said. "I've never had neck injuries nor had pain in my neck," he said. "I was definitely relieved (after the test results).  Definitely relieved that it wasn't anything structural, bones. It's the first time. I'm learning how to deal with it as I go along." continue
