noun

  1. all the gods of a people or religion collectively.
"the deities of the Hindu and Shinto pantheons"
    • (especially in ancient Greece and Rome) a temple dedicated to all the gods.
      noun: Pantheon
    • a building in which the illustrious dead of a nation are buried or honored.

I am surprised GB is favored by 2.5 after last weeks bozo show.  I don't like how this team looks right now, offense seems inept and defense giving up big chunks.  I have to think last weekend really got their attention.  I think Car is another tough match up on the road.   Olson is really their only receiving threat, but Stewart has been reborn in the running game.  GB needs to continue to do what they have on defense and thats take the ball away, currently tied for 2nd with +7.  Most of those top tier teams are all in the top 5-6 in give/take (Den, Car, GB, Cin, NE)  Play good red zone defense and take the ball away.  PS, Woody leads the league in INTS

I hope we see a more focused/alert group that realizes whats at stake

Packers 30

Carolina 24

That and the oline blows.

This is what I don't get. Supposedly the best group in a while, with some decent depth. Where are they?

Add in coming off a bye, and the thin air of Denver and this was a bad bad combination all along. It just wasn't our night, a bad spot and not a game you want to shoot your wad in with Carolina coming up. We tried, it was obvious right away it wasn't working... and it was then a game for a defensive re-treat...live to play another week...save your powder for a game that will vastly impact the rest of your season.

Relax. Your old Green Bay Packers will show up in Carolina. We will look more like the team before we went vanilla vs. two AFC *ucks. Get over it...this is how MM does it.

...

Looking back...it will be...well of course...the Packers will be just fine. It's so clear, this was the game we wanted...this is the game circled...I wonder how much of the bye week was spent...scheming THIS game?

Eternal optimist here, but after thinking about this a lot IMO this post from oldschool the other day is probably close to the truth. That doesn't excuse players half-assing it but how else to explain such a vanilla game plan v. the Donkeys? May also explain help player frustration ("why the hell are we running this ****?").

Otherwise there's a lot of bad juju going on at 1265.

Bad juju. It looked like against Denver the offense didn't believe in the game plan and they executed accordingly. The defensive coaches never adjusted to what Denver was doing and our guys were caught flat-footed and unprepared. It's not that they lost, it's that they looked horribly dysfunctional in losing the way they did. If they don't come out better in Carolina, then something is clearly wrong at 1265.

I'll be looking this weekend to see that the offense is more cohesive and on point, while the defense tightens up the middle of the field. If we show some fight and cohesion we should win, but it ain't gonna be easy.

Green Bay - The following is a summary of coach Mike McCarthy's pre-practice press conference Wednesday:

  • (On Panthers game Monday) Televised copies we look at anyways, but I thought it was a heckuva football game. Good game, just to see it live and see communication, there's things you don't see on the coach's tape.
  • (On biggest difference) They're healthy. We played them last year and they had a number of guys out of the game. They're playing good football. The way they're running the ball and Cam Newton and Stewart, I think they're doing a good job there. Defensively, they're a good challenge with our offense. They fly around and play downhill. It's a balanced and well-rounded football team.
  • (On Greg Olsen and TEs against the defense) Last week wasn't a great week for us. Olsen poses different threats. He's coming out of the backfield, is displaced. Lot of misdirection. Good player and they utilize him. They're very multiple.
  • (On taking play-calling back) That's not a good structure. You don't just abandon the procedure when something bad happens. There was a lot to learn from the last game. we had a chance to look at the tape collectively and had a chance to apply to it.
  • (On having team ready to play) I like to think I'm a dynamic speaker (smiles). Reality is when team doesn't start the way it should is my responsibility. Every week is different. We didn't play with the same energy as we did in the past. Both teams coming off the bye. I'm sure emphasis for Broncos was starting fast. Starting fast is one thing, not sustaining is another.
  • (On WRs) It's not a one-position ballgame. Our plays are way down. Things play into that. This is not just about receivers getting open. We'll take what we learned and apply it to our next game.
  • (On working out of lulls) I think the most important thing you have to understand is you’re different every year. We’ve done well over the years and the statistics over nine seasons look similar. This is a different offense than what we ran last year and a different football team. We started the season off the right way playing in balance to one another. We have not the last two (games).

  • (On Kuhn and Ripkowski) John is steady and consistent. Carries that over to Sunday. Rip has done a very good job. He's been getting more involved.
  • (On Montgomery) He feels better. We'll see if he can go today.
  • (On Newton) Way utilizing him, ability to run the football, whether the option series. He looks comfortable throwing the ball. I don't know if there's an action pass they don't have.
  • (On Rollins, Shields, Matthews) Quinten may practice today. Clay will do something. Sam's getting better.

This post is a work of art. Not sure why you feel the need to add  *** ***in **** shock value all the time. You may actually have a soul of a poet.

From the MM presser: "We’ve done well over the years and the statistics over nine seasons look similar. This is a different offense than what we ran last year and a different football team. We started the season off the right way playing in balance to one another. Well, that's interesting and could explain a lot. A different offense. And how's that working so far?

McCarthy is sneaky smart.

One thing I hate is when the Packers edit the videos from the press conferences.  The MM presser has a cut at 7:30 after he answers the question about guys getting open.

"What's the definition of open?...there's things we need to do a better job of; running the ball, obviously protecting, and the passing game.  We can get better in each area"

Then a edit to a question about Cam Newton and his development since his rookie year.

 left out:

The problem with that line of thinking is it's 2015 and it can end up making it a bigger deal than it needs to be.  Anyone with a half a brain (me) and twitter can figure out what was said.

I understand they're afraid of the clip going global on NFL network and ESPN, but after their blunder with Cohen and Rob Davis last week these kinds of shenanigans are the last thing their PR department should be up to.  The least they could do is not insult people by saying they're posting the "full" press conference.

Well, editing that out doesn't remove much. The question was from Bill Johnson, who spends a lot of his time shouting and listening to himself talk, so getting McCarthy's Next question response... meh.

It's a question that no coach of a future HOF QB would/should honestly answer. No benefit.

We're on to Carolina.

That's right, he did coach Favre.
