  • "They've adjusted something with the in game operations.  Said he'll talk about it more on Monday. Looking back says he might have asked too much of Tom Clemons."

Translation: MM: I'm going to take back a large portion of that playcalling sheet.

Interesting to note that Clements is on the sideline and not in a box upstairs. One has to wonder how much he sees at field level.

Ummmmm

Mike said its not scheme

Mike said theres no need for knee jerk reactions

Clements and AR are tight.

I dont know exactly what this news means. Not a lot of information here.

But Mike better really be buttoned up on this if he's going to take back some of the play calling.

This is just some concerning news 36 hours before kickoff.

Edgar gets to speak his piece. Behind closed doors.

Meanwhile he's watching. Learning. And working.

He's going to be a head coach in this league. I'm hoping he just has to move his office down the hall.

How much does anyone want to bet that media doesn't pick up on MM's comment to McCarren about "we're gonna make an adjustment this week" [playcalling discussion from 7:00-8:00 minute mark] and what that may imply?

Put another way, thanks to titmfatied's work in the trenches we on x4 are privy to what might spool out as a rather significant marker in the journey for Team 95.

x4 rules.

The question is if Clements is Janis dumb when it comes to play calling or if he's "overwhelmed" because he's not delegating and getting Edgar involved.

Carolina is first in the league in rushing offense.  There is nothing sophisticated about it.  They are going to slow down the tempo and pound it down your throat and occasionally let Cam do the same and mix in a throw - once in a while to Olsen.

The gameplan on D this week is simple.  Put on your big boy pants and tackle.  If GB can do that they have a great chance to win.  If they play like pussies it's going to be a long game.

All speculation, but I'm guessing Tom Clements is overwhelmed.  Didn't they play out of 1 personnel grouping (3WR 1RB 1TE) for most of the last game on offense? That seems like an adjustment to simplify things to me.  It also made the offense super predictable.  They did very little to pressure the Broncos out of the defensive personnel groups they were in and were playing at the Broncos tempo. That's a recipe for disaster.

Combine that with MM saying he wasn't happy with how they were getting in and out of the huddle, nor the tempo and timing of the offense.  I'm guessing there's issues with how quickly the plays are getting in.  It's hard to be aggressive and on time if the plays aren't coming in efficiently. Did they want to run a bunch of no huddle and were unable to because the coaching staff couldn't keep up?  That's the kind of thing that snowballs quickly and throws a gameplan into shambles.

Sometimes MM seems to make problems for himself when he fixes things that aren't broken.  Self scouting and his management practices are the foundation of everything in the program, but sometimes his constant tinkering leads him into problems that didn't need to happen.

I also understand why they can't just come out and say what the actual problems are because the story can take on a life of its own.  There are times when it's reasonable  and then there's other times the narrative coming out of 1265 is needlessly over filtered and cloaked in secrecy. I think MM could have owned up more to his end of the issues this week instead of blaming the reporters for not letting them move on.

The reporters have to write about something.  Oftentimes the story ends up being what they can infer from the quotes they get out of the locker room and from the pressers.  I think some of the friction between the reporters and the players right now (above the Guion bs) is because the players are upset with the coaching staff and they can't talk about it publicly, but they're eating the greatest portion of the blame for the debacle in Denver.

I can understand the frustration for the WRs, too.   It's hard enough to get open in the NFL, let alone if you're stressed by the play coming in slowly and simplified personnel.  Sprinkle an agitated, perfectionist QB into the mix and the unwritten rule that it's never on the QB and they took a lot of the heat this week for something that was a lot bigger than just them (or the QB).

Great. Just great. From ESPN.com:

The Packers downgraded No. 1 cover corner Sam Shields (shoulder) and rookie Quinten Rollins (neck) to doubtful Saturday afternoon after neither player took part in the team’s light morning practice before departing for Charlotte...

Rookie wide receiver/kick returner Ty Montgomery (ankle) was also downgraded to doubtful and will likely miss his second straight game. In addition, starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee) and starting right guard T.J. Lang (illness) were added to the injury report as probable, while pass-rushing outside linebacker Mike Neal (hip) was added as questionable.

Bulaga missed three games with a left knee injury earlier this season, although it’s unclear which knee is the issue this time. The Packers did not say when Neal was injured.

Without Shields and Rollins, the Packers figure to start first-round pick Damarious Randall opposite veteran Casey Hayward at cornerback, with Micah Hyde likely serving as the fifth defensive back in the team’s nickel group. The coaches will have to decide whether to go with Demetri Goodson or undrafted rookie free agent LaDarius Gunter as the sixth defensive back in the dime...

I think we win this one. If not, I hope heads won't explode off fans' shoulders, and I hope last weeks complete flop was an anomaly.

We blew this team out last season. They remember that. Should be a close game this time.

If we lose badly then I will just

Wow, Bob is on his game....even used the word "cornucopia"! Mix some traps & power game with the zone blocking scheme? Employ some "man beaters" in with our isolation route passing scheme? Has Bob been reading some posts on this board?
