What you got to say now Big Boss Man? Not only did I carry Houser to a complete game shut out it carried over to Vogelbach today!!!!
Go 12-12 and
Cincy needs 23-1 to tie
STL needs 27-0 to tie.

Home Run 💣
Exit velo: 99.5 mph
Launch angle: 30 deg

This would have been a home run in 29/30 MLB ballparks.
Only Oracle Park would've held this one in.

I think even a few Cubs fans are happy after that game. 😄
Brewers magic number is 14.
Here's Bob Uecker's radio call.
Thanks for that
Lucky fans that got to be in the stands yesterday.
Woodruff is having trouble with the long-ball today. Brewers down 4-0 in the 4th after Woodruff gives up 3 home runs so far.
After yesterday, we know never to give up on this team, but they'll have to claw their way back into another one. Wheeler is really dealing against them today so far.
I'm puzzled when CC left Woodruff in for the 7th inning down 4-0 at 90 pitches. He had been good after the 4th inning (and it was really only the HRs that hurt), but with a fairly well-rested bullpen it didn't follow the usual script.
He gives up a single and a walk to open the inning and then Suter walks his first hitter on 4 pitches. Bases loaded, no one out, already down 4-0 and now facing Bryce Harper.
Need to stay within 4 so we can at least tie it with another grand slam.

And Suter strikes out Harper and gets a double play to get out with no damage.
Today’s highlight?
Reds lose.
Even tho the Brewers lost today magic number down to 13 as the Cubbies beat the Reds.
Lauer with a 2-hit shutout through 6. Looks like he got tired of Houser being called their 4th best starter.
Lauer got a 4 pitch walk with the bases loaded to drive in a run in the 6th. He also had an infield single in the 3rd and scored on ground rule double by Escobar.
Yelich creeping up… up to .260 now…
Shut out.

It's interesting how I look at this too. I'm still of the mindset that batting average is important (growing up in the 70s and 80s we never heard about on-based percentage). Since he's come back from the COVID list, he's played in 30 games and his OBP has actually gone down slightly (382 to 375). Basically, he's being more aggressive, taking fewer walks, but getting more singles. There is almost no power yet. Here are his 30 game totals.
33 hits in 106 ABs (311 BA), 8 doubles, 2 HRs, 15 RBIs, 9 walks. His OBP is 365. His slugging percentage is still pretty anemic (443) and his OPS is at a somewhat respectable 808.
Over a full season he'd be at roughly 40 doubles, 10 HRs, 75 RBIs if he held this level he's had at 30 games.
He's certainly someone that's valuable to have the in the lineup, but he's now he's just at the level of a moderately above-average player. I sure hope the power numbers return, and they might with some long-term good health. But if they don't, the 22 million a year for the next 8 years is going to kill them.
I’d say he’s hit the ball harder of late. That double last night was a perfect piece of hitting- other way, level swing, went right with the pitch. When he’s got it going, oppo is really strong for him.
Reds lose.
Brewers win.
Magic #10
Really like that Ashby has settled in. He could really be great as a middle reliever in the post season. Dude has filthy stuff…
9/9/21
12 game lead. Wow!
Seems like a truly special crew.
I think Ashby (and to a lesser extent Ethan Small) have been overshadowed in the minors because of how impressive guys like Garrett Mitchell and Brice Turang have been for the Brewers.
Small needs to develop a third pitch but Ashby is already there having an elite change up and a decent slider. He can run it up there in the upper 90s but I’d argue his fastball is his least effective pitch.
It will be interesting to see how he’s used coming into the playoffs. Could be an intriguing weapon out of the bullpen either to set up Williams or be a lefty compliment to Boxberger.
Counsell is going to have a lot of good pitching options for sure.
Going to be some very dissappointed guys come playoff roster time. Not sure how you can put Vogelbach and JBJ on their the way Jace Peterson and Tyronne Taylor have performed. Same with pitching. At least one and more likely 2 of these guys will be the odd men out barring injuries; Norris, Gustave, Sanchez and Anderson. I hope they keep all 3 catchers on the playoff roster. Pena is a good player but beginning to wear down.
No way JBJ has done anything to stay on the roster.
CG will keep JBJ on
They have made so many astute moves. The JBJ signing (hindsight being what it is) is not one of them.
Peterson can play RF… and if they can get Taylor back and going again they’re set in the OF. Don’t think JBJ can hit in the post season- he’s an automatic out.

I would like to have JBJ on the roster and playing D late in games. Not loving the thought of Garcia pulling a replay of the SF Game and being this decade's Nelson Cruz...
Not a back in kind of guy but it looks like the Dodgers Bauer will be gone for the rest of the season.

I think you slap Peterson or Taylor in right in the 8th and 9th if you have any kind of a lead, especially if Garcia batted in the 7th. What the hell anyway, if they win it all JBJ and Vogelbach still get a ring.

Yes. He could be what Burnes was in the 2018 post-season.
Escobar leads off the 5th with a long homer to right and Cain finishes it with a GRAND SLAM!!! 9-2 Brewers !!!!!!
And Escobar homers again on the 1st pitch in the 6th, this time to left. 10-2 Crew.
Did not see this coming
.@LuisUrias03 has become the 7th player (10x) in franchise history to produce a 20+ HR season prior to turning 25.
