I don't want to see him fired midseason but if he was it would probably be Capers that takes over. He has been a HC in the NFL twice before.

Deep fryer cleaning with his tongue, hopefully.
I think Thompson gets a chance to hire one more HC. It will be interesting if McCarthy goes to see what happens with the defense. Lets see how many different coordinators Nick Barnett can have in his career.

A mess created by who?
Actually, I'm ready for MM to go if he insists on keeping guys like Campen and Philbin around.

Talent is there (except oline THANK YOU ZBS HYBRID OR WHATEVER IS BEING RUN), coaching isn't.
I love it when:
1. barnett misses the tackle on the blitz, gives up a 30 yd pass, then celebrates the next play.
2. when the gun sounds and Driver is all smiles yucking it up.
3. giacomini and barbre fight for the starting spot, not Lang, Sitton, or even Meredith.
4. we lose to an 0-7 team with a rookie QB getting his first start.
5. we lose every conceivable way, blocked punt, kickoff return, ad nauseum.
6. jennings gets his big payday and disappears.
7. our running game is adequate but we have to keep airing it out behind our OL.
8. t. williams kickoff return for 4 yards.
9. bush sits back 10 yards on a 4th and goal play.
10. harris gets all lippy and gets burned the next play.
11. Kampmann cannot cover a back out of the backfield.
There's more to love but I'm sick of typing.

MM gets fired now, because TT and Murphy know that if they wait any longer it will be them alongside. Capers coaches the rest of the season and TT hires someone new to start next season. With TT under pressure the money starts to flow in the off season. I don't see them ditching MM and TT together. No name coach is going to come in and try and stomp out this flaming bag of ****, no way.
He'd get an OC job pretty quickly I'd think.quote:Originally posted by Randy Moss:

Nice summary.
Hope it's the queens and they can suffer.
MM just isn't the offensive genius I thought he was. Eight games into this season, it's pretty f'n apparent the offensive line can't pass protect worth a lick, yet MM is still calling all these deep pass plays. It's inexcusable, IMO.
I'm not so sure HCs would be climbing over themselves to hire MM as their next OC, personally.

MM OTOH is done. It's quite clear he cannot coach a football team.
I'm beginning to wonder if Farve just flat out disobeyed MM on certain occasions during the 13-3 season
Why's it matter? He's had 5 years and the team at this point is no better than it was 5 yrs ago. What's he make/yr? $3 million? With all the money he's saved the franchise in cap room it shouldn't be a big deal to absorb his contract.
Keep him another year just delays the inevitable.
Many of the flaws we have repeatedly seen under MM from year one to now showed up in spades today:
Poor special teams coverage
Lousy punting
Shoddy offensive line play
Penalties
Questionable play calling
That these occurred in a game with the worst team of the league only puts an emphatic stamp on how unbelievably poorly this team is coached. MM says it was his fault for today's game---he didn't go far enough

I'm with you. The last two years on his resume is poison.
No top notch coach will come here knowing the GM has maybe one year to fix this team before he’s gone. A New GM will want to hire his own coach.
I think TT will make it through. MM and staff are done.
If he stepped away from the supper table a little more often and get to the film work and break down his own sh?tty coaching, we'd be better ...
His downfall was getting married, getting comfortable, letting up, getting fat&happy ...
In the end, IMO it will cost him his job.

The other tidbit we need to revisit is the fact that Thompson was often credited for building the Seattle team that went to the Super Bowl in 2005, a reason to believe in his mantra. However, since that Super Bowl, the Seahawks have gone 9-7, 10-6, 4-12, and now stand at 2-5 this season, with perhaps the worst offensive line in the league. If you were building a team through the draft that was intended to challenge every year, wouldn't you think they should have avoided the bottom dropping out from under them?

Monroe, when TT was in seattle he'd draft somebody and everyone would go "who"? Finally they end up with enough "whos" that they're in the SB. He did a great job there. The guy who replaced him was inadequate. Losing Hutchinson for example.

One of the big reason is Rodgers just doesn't seem to want to let go of the ball. Hard to tell if WRs are just not getting open, or he feels like the WR must be completely Wideopen before he is willing to let it go. Over the last several weeks I have continued to yell at the screen...."Throw the Damn Ball!"

That's a pretty poor argument. Ted Thompson is responsible for the Seahawks sucking the last two years? Really?
From an outside perspective I think they should just fire Ted Thompson within the next two weeks and then try and get the new GM in place prior to making any coaching decisions.
Not that McCarthy needs an endorsement. I do think it's less his fault but he is certainly fair game for implementing schemes that don't fit the talent they have. I said this last week but the fatal flaw in his strategy is taking a guy like Aaron Kampmann who has been a force for several years and neutralizing his effectiveness by switching to a scheme that just doesn't fit.
The play calling stuff that people complain about is not even in the top ten of what they do wrong but overall it is a lack of key personnel and screwed up rotations on the line would be right at the top. Regardless of having bad linemen, there's no excuse for having a depth chart which changes everyone's position with one injury. Did they really think that was the best use of what they had?
Problem is you fire the coach and then there's an extra time period before the next GM would get the guy he wants. Otherwise you hire a guy who is doomed to be fired and now you have 3 coaches in 3 years instead of just two. The GM has to be the one to take the fall for the whole thing.

My point is the draft is great but you get the best players available in F/A
Thompson should go. He sucks. Even if you think MM is terrible, he is TT's boi.
Do not throw out the Baby with the Bath Water.
Fire MM....Keep TT. Even the often worshiped Ron Wolf made a couple of mistakes in hiring a coach (see Ray Rhodes).
If coaching is so bad....how do we really know TT hasn't gotten the talent needed on the OL? Everyone needs some coaching....good coaching.

good point
Maybe Bob Harlan was more important than anyone thought. Things have gone south pretty quickly after he retired.
Harlan's the guy who handed GM duties to Sherman and then Thompson. He doesn't come out unscathed.
I say can 'em both. Is the TT talent as bad as they look, or is it just the coaching? Not sure... but at this point maybe it's best to just get rid of the both of them so the Favre thing is more quickly put in the past.
The proof is in the pudding. Five years of TT and we lose to Succaneers. Now either he hired the wrong coach or he didn't bring in the right players. Either way he is at fault.
The problem with not firing TT with MM is that you then guarantee TT at least 3 more years. Nobody wants to come in and be Head Coach with a lame duck GM, because a new GM will want his own man as HC. So, TT secures his position for a few more years if he gets to hire another head coach.
That was exactly the dilemma we faced when Wolf canned Rhodes, hired Sherman, and then Wolf retired the next year.
If we hired a new GM, then Sherman may have been gone---making it 3 coaches in 3 years. So, Sherman became GM and we know how it turned out......

just the fact that you called them less talented kind of contradicts your point

Huh? I think we have a justified reason to be pissed off after losing to an 0-7 team. This mess was a ticking time bomb and the "perfect storm" developed against TB. In a way I am glad they lost because this will accelerate the firing process
Rodgers, Jennings, and Woodson can't cover for a bunch of other personnel moves that have been either poor, mediocre, or still of uncertain value.

Should of stopped there. Nobody gives a sh*t what you think.
Don't forget Donald Driver. I'd hate to think where they'd be this year without him
