Agree, he has talked about "energy", "swarming to the ball", etc. many times. He is looking for a motivator and will put a premium on personality over scheme.
Kevin Greene type.
This will get Leonhard some "Cred"
I thought white men can't jump
Think those long extended drives against the defense frustrated MLF as much as they did the fans.

LaFleur is starting to inform candidates they didnβt make the finals. Differing opinions from people with limited knowledge seems to indicate Leonhard, Evero and Barry are top 3 with second interviews being conducted today. This is not the final word, just some sourcesβ feel.
β Tom Silverstein (@TomSilverstein) February 5, 2021
The old 'feel' report.
Only thing I really know about Barry is that he was the DC in Detroit the year they went 0-16.
I don't know much about Leonhard's coaching style. Is he one of those young, energetic type dudes that fires people up?
Leonhard is the best candidate of those 3, but would he really leave and would #Packers be willing to make it worth his while? π°

Of the other 2, Evero is the type of up-and-comer that would make sense. Barry's awful 4 seasons as DC in Washington & Detroit is hard to get past. https://t.co/3xqBoEM2KO

Heβs not a loudmouth but leadership is his strength. I donβt gather he raises via voice often unless it has a purpose. Doesnβt strike me as one who thinks βyelling is coaching.β I have been around enough of those asshats in my life.
And maybe he can return punts.

Extremely intense is not to be confused with yelling.

You know you might be on to something. At 38 he could be the designated late season old fart DB addition. Take the place of Tramon Williams and probably give us a nice discount as player/coach.

Hey Michael Rodney,
Why the fuck do you think heβs interviewing? For shits and giggles?
Only reason you agree to second interview is; 1) You will take the job if offered 2) You are looking to get something in either a raise or perks / promotion at your current job.
Considering he turned down a bunch of top tier college programs I gotta think the leap to the NFL, with the Packers no less, isn't just a promotion/raise bid. Guess we'll see.
Not Andy Reid's son that is for sure.
Britt Reid, the son of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and the team's outside linebackers coach, was involved in a multi-car accident Thursday night that has left a 5-year-old child with life-threatening injuries, according to a team statement and the police report.
According to an incident report provided by the Kansas City Missouri Police Department police, a car ran out of gas on an on-ramp to Interstate 435 in Kansas City on Thursday night. After the driver called relatives for help, a second car arrived, also parking on the on-ramp.
According to the police report, a third car, which Kansas City television station KSHB says was driven by Britt Reid, then came along and struck first the left front of the disabled vehicle and then slammed into the rear of the second vehicle, where the 5-year-old child was in the backseat along with a 4-year-old child, who also was taken to by ambulance to an area hospital but with non-life threatening injuries.
The station said Reid admitted to police he was driving the car, according to a search warrant.
"The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle accident involving Outside Linebackers Coach, Britt Reid," the Chiefs said in a statement Friday. "We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved."
None of the persons involved in the multi-car accident are identified by name in the police report.
The driver of the third car received non-life threatening injuries and was being investigated for impairment, according to police.
If we offer Leonhard and he turns it down because Russ Balls and What Me Murphy don't want to give him a big enough raise I'm driving to Green Bay with a pair of pliers and a blow torch.
Medieval doesn't even cover it...
@RochNyFan posted:... Were the defensive lapses on Pettine, or on the coach of the secondary, where the majority of mistakes occurred?...
JMHO, if it happens once or twice during a game, it's a player problem.
If it happens multiple times, it's a scheme or game plan (coaching) problem.
In that case, I'd blame Pettine before I would Gray.
Leonhard gets paid pretty well by the Badgers, doesn't he? Like just into 6 figures?

Wave to MiLF as he heads out of town.
The Badgers just might have to offer Leonhard the Head coaching job.

$1,128,534 this past season

Wink Martindale at Baltimore is highest paid DC in league at $3.25M
If MLF believes JL is the guy to get them to the next step, isnβt he worth $1.5M-$2M a season?
We cheaped out on ST coordinator, and look where it got us.
Coaches salaries dont touch salary cap money. There is no reason other than Russ Balls ego for not paying coaches more.
Available cash.

Its not for lack of cash, its because Russ Balls loves to count beans. It gets him hard.
From Silverstein:
LaFleur has played this search close to the vest, but numerous sources around the NFL, including associates of some of the candidates on the long list, are convinced it is Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhardβs job if he wants it.
Anyone know what Pettine's deal looked like? Only thing I can find on him is what he got paid to suck as the Browns HC.
@PackerHawk posted:Anyone know what Pettine's deal looked like?
According to Silverstein's piece, it was about $3 million per. From the piece:
Leonard has turned down other reported opportunities, including the Illinois head-coaching job in December and the Rams defensive coordinator position in 2018.
Wasn't aware he was offered the Rams job.
I think JL is a very viable future Badger HC.
But, why not go be a DC in the NFL for a few years and when PC retires or takes over for BA as AD, come back to WI.
Being a NFL DC with a Super Bowl or two under your belt sure couldn't hurt recruiting.
I just realized that's a lot of initials.

I doubt Badger HC is an available job for quite awhile

Pick me up on the way. I've got a fistful of feathers.
I'm curious as to how much Leonhard plays into the recruiting process. UDub could throw some serious cash his way.
Still the proverbial home town boy becoming DC for the Packers would be hard to pass up. I gotta think even Barry and Chryst would understand that.
As Bongwater stated, HC at Wisconsin isn't going to be available any time soon.
The more they build out the TitleTown District the better overall. We can look down at the sledding hill, but the Packers need revenue streams beyond the NFL typical options of TV $$ and apparel sales.
