It's a broken thumb, not a broken arm or leg. I have a hard time believing he's going to be out for several weeks because of it.
I'd guess if the break is on or near one of the joints, they'll perform surgery. If it's something in the area of the nail, they'll just wrap it up and let him play. What's worrying me about that is the fact that he came out of the game. When Favre got that hairline fracture just under his thumbnail in 2003, he was able to stay in the game and only found out it was broken afterward.
Some guy named Patrick Willis played with one..
You try pulling your hair back with one hand.
Hose clamp it.
I guess I'd rather he have surgery and get the thumb right than club it for the rest of the season while the damn things never gets better. I guess I worry how he will get rides home if he doesn't get the thing fixed.
Thumbs are over rated. Cut the thing off and keep playing.
Ronnie Lott and Captain Chad Fleming agree.
Wonder if Matthews was trying to "save" a pizza.
Rub some dirt on it.
Oops, I forgot..... it's pink month.
Rub some boobs on it??
Next thumb up
from PFT:
Bears coach Marc Trestman just announced that defensive tackle Nate Collins suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the rest of the season.
Collins was replacing Henry Melton, who was lost for the season with his own ACL tear last month.
Hmmmm...... too much stretching for sure, maybe Extreme Yoga
If you thought the Falcons were done after last night's loss...
hammer toes
Haven't seen the other worst brother around lately. I think he liked Jonathan Brown and Joey Jamison more than Anthony "Hammer Toes" Lucas.
Jones may be out for the year. IIRC, Roddy White is nursing a hammy (fire the S&C guy now please). Steven Jackson is out for a couple more weeks. Their OL sucks. Matty Choke is wildly overrated. They have no pass rush. They're 4 games behind the Saints and have already lost to them once, so they're basically 5 games behind after 5 weeks...
Another part of the Jones debacle in ATL is this:
It is same foot that required surgery by Dr Anderson after fracture discovered at Combine in 2011. Falcons drafted anyway after big trade up
From the comments:
Wow. Teams that do well one year don't always do well the next? Great insight, Len. Thanks for the article.
Looking forward to the follow-up, about how teams that do poorly one season sometimes do well the next.
Have I missed something or is no one giving or asking about Brad Jones' injury status? With all the talk focusing on CMIII, Jones' injury is also important.
Since they lost an ILB (Francois-achilles) and an OLB (Matthew-thumb), and then brought up a CB (Nixon) I'd guess they are not all that concerned about Jones (Hamstring).
Gonna get crowded on the DL.
glad he's excited, glad he's ready but that would be pretty incredible recovery time.
I actually forgot about Worthy. Will be a nice addition to the rotation when healthy.
Jerel Worthy sounds considerably more confident than Derek Sherrod that heāll be back on the practice field as soon as the window opens for him to come off the physically unable to perform list and start participating again.
{snip}
"Derek Sherrod, he's definitely going to play this year. He looks great," McCarthy said on his TV show earlier this week. "It has been a long process for him coming back. I'm glad we took the extra time. He's ready to go. He's not available until after six weeks (per PUP rules). He looks good. I'm excited to get him on the practice field."
{snip}
A third player, safety Sean Richardson, is on PUP with a neck injury and doesnāt know if the Packers will activate him or decide that his neck poses too much risk and will release him, as they did with Nick Collins.
Encouraging.

A CT scan showed that Jones, who had a fracture in his foot after the 2011 NFL scouting combine, suffered a fracture in the same location, sources told Mortensen.
"Unfortunately, Julio's appointment with the doctor today confirmed our initial findings," Falcons coach Mike Smith said in a statement. "He is scheduled to have a season-ending procedure on Monday."
Good thing they have Matty Ice and a top Defense.
DJ Williams of the bores most likely gone for the season with a pectoral tear.
the Bostic era begins.

The whole Bucs team will have a staph infection by the end of the year. CRAZY!!!!!! I'm sure Freeman is happy to get out of that place.
Just wondering if there's enough bandwidth left to keep this thread open.
possible spinal stenosis for David Wilson. Season and carrer ending

so with Jones and Cobb hurting, can we expect Myles White to make an appearance?
I still wish we had kept Tyrone Walker. Is he on the active squad or the PS with Seattle?
Just wondering if there's enough bandwidth left to keep this thread open.
We have unlimited bandwidth here "Views" are the big thing now. We're allowed 2 million views per month
Will Randy Moss or Chastin West or Tori Gurley or Terrell Owens make an appearance in Green Bay?
I love you bro, but I ain't watching Whoppi Goldberg for you once, let alone 2 million times.
Just envision her with Elizabeth Hasselbeck's wig.
Getting warmer.

Randy Moss has a TV gig now...so I doubt it. TO...I just don't see TT having any interest in a guy who's a known malcontent, and old as sin to boot. Gurley...a legend in Packer fans' minds, but not in any other personnel director's mind, apparently.
What about that Burrell guy?
