It's been about 30 years since going into a season feeling like Lions' fans feel every season.
Trust me, Lions fans don't feel like that anymore. I'm surrounded by them and they are thrilled to be dancing on our metaphorical grave. I only hope they can't live up to the new lofty expectations.
Really excited to begin the Love era and see what he can do.
I've posted these highlights before.
Sorry, not sorry.
Find Jordan Love one of these. This is what Rodgers had in just his 2nd year as a starter. This kid was Rodgers safety blanket.
Love needs his blankie like a fuckin' Linus did.
It's a very deep TE class. Figure it out Gute and get him one. Hell, get him 2.

I'm pissed at the Loins. No way I want Jamaal to go to the Bares or Queenies. I could tolerate him being in Detoilet.

I think he needs more than a tight end...
TE Tyler Davis
H-Back Josiah Degaura
WRs Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Samori Toure, and Bo Melton.
These are the current receivers on roster.
Gutey only has enough cash under the cap to add another Funchess or Watkins like talent and he may even defy 21st Packer history by using a 1st round pick on a TE or WR, but man (as of March 15, 2023) it does not look like Jordan is walking into a great situation when it comes to his pass catchers.
You forgot to put Bak on your list

I doubt that Love sees it that way. He got to work with these guys since Rodgers didn't practice all the time. Also, Watson came on last year and before Doubs was injured, he did well. There will be growing pains, and I'm not saying we don't need especially a TE, but these guys form a nice base to start and grow from.
Agree. Watson and Aaron Jones are special players. We also saw, when MLF ran the ball (or should I say, Rodgers allowed him to run the ball) the Packers offense was actually getting it done and moving the chains.
Was it ESPN highlight worthy? No. It wasn't hero ball either.
In 2019, when Rodgers said he wasn't a fan of being a game/time manager playing in what most believe was as close to a MLF offense as we've seen, Aaron Jones had 16 TD's rushing and 3 more receiving.
I don't think Jordan Love would have any issue sharing the spotlight with that kind of running game production. And I can't wait to see it again.
We will get to see how good of a coach MLF really his now...
Well, the offense will be starting at midfield every time with Nixon returning punts and kick offs.

Aaron Jones and A J Dillion would like a word with you. And I think you can mark it in stone a WR will be coming from the J E T S Jets Jets Jets. They won't need 8 when GM Aaron is done.
I'm looking forward to all the folks who are gonna turn on Love the first bad game, or bad spell he has as QB1. And then say "boo," when he performs well. Been a long time since they've worked those muscles...

You only have yourself top blame if you feel like that. I'm positive the Packer record will be better than last season.
I don't think I've seen this posted ...what Rodgers said about Love today

I'm giving him the whole year regardless of how good or bad he does. If we can win half our games and beat the Bears I'll be happy with the season. Even Rodgers only went 6-10 his first year and had 13 INTs. And that was coming off the NFCCG the year before.

Rodgers did indeed go 6-10 and throw 13 INTs in 2008.
He also threw 28 TDs and his D was so bad that the Defensive Coordinator got fired after the season.
If Jordan Love gets anywhere close to 28 TDs and 13 INTs in 2023 that would be fantastic.
And if Joe Barry got fired after the season, well it would not exactly come as a surprise.
But anyone expecting Love to match Rodgers 2008 numbers should also recall that Aaron was throwing to Donald Driver in his prime (74 catches for 1,012 yards), Greg Jennings in year 3 (80 for 1,292), James Jones in year 2 (though he missed several games with injury), and some rookie named Jordy Nelson who contributed 33 catches.
The Jordan Love Era Has Arrived
Good piece from Huber on Love. No idea if he'll ultimately pan out but lots of reasons to be (cautiously) optimistic.
Love the word era when talking about a new Packer QB, some other teams would have to use the word "season."
I wonder if Matt Ryan is going to be the veteran back up behind him. He knows Lafleuers system and I hope the Packers dont go with a rookie behind him. Nobody is beating down his door to sign him. that might work.
Bring Back Benkert.
If you look at the Packers schedule this year it’s not daunting. Their two toughest games (KC and Chargers) are at home. At MN is always tough, and playing in Detroit will be pesky, but I honestly think and expect MN and maybe the Giants and Lions to take a step back this year.
Still, year one is always a learning curve (see Rodgers and Favre) so I’m tempering my expectations.
i wouldn't write off the lions. that is a team on the ascent and they have two first round picks.
after 9 losses last year, hopefully we're on the ascent with 2 first round picks as well!
@Jessie Clark posted:i wouldn't write off the lions. that is a team on the ascent and they have two first round picks.
They also have Jared Goff. They're not winning a Super Bowl with him. They didn't even make the playoffs last year. I'm going out on a limb and say Jamal Williams isn't scoring 15 TD's again this upcoming season.
Let's see if they move in another direction at the QB position.
Jamaal Williams wont score even 1 TD for detroit, just a hunch
goff had a pretty good year:
Year | Team | CMP% | YDS | TD | INT | Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2022 | 65.1 | 4,438 | 29 | 7 | 99.3 |

There are those among us who think those stats are shit.

I've heard Mariota and that makes a lot of sense. He did have a season with LaFluer's offense in 2018.
So what will Love have to do to earn a spot on the X4 banner with 15, 12 and the others?
Follow up question, what will 12 have to do to earn being erased like 4 was?
I think Mariota is a good option. You can win a game or two with him as a stopgap and he knows he's not a starter anymore, so he's probably more willing to help a young guy. And he's only 29, so he's older than Love without being a fossil. I think he'd also come pretty cheap.
@PackerHawk posted:Follow up question, what will 12 have to do to earn being erased like 4 was?
piss off the owners of x4. he was definetely a dick but he didnt pull an OJ. He gave fans a wild ride for 15 years. I vote he be reinstated. I know that will carry as much weight as if I voted conservative in Los Angeles.
Fuck him. I don't want a guy stealing welfare funds in the banner. You don't have to be responsible for a double homicide to be a truly shitty human being and that's what Favre is.
But I don't remember when he was removed. Was it right after he went to the Vikings? Later than that?
What's the deadline for exercising that fifth year option on Love?
If they believe in him, I don't want us getting screwed the way the Giants were on their QB Jones after they neglected to pick up his fifth year option.
May 1st. Not much time and I bet they go that route.
@PackerHawk posted:But I don't remember when he was removed. Was it right after he went to the Vikings? Later than that?
I believe it was 2008 when the banner went up. Possibly 2009 as he was joining the Vikings.
Either way, Bert isn't getting on the banner as long as I'm part owner here. Rodgers stays as long as he doesn't do anything completely idiotic the rest of his life.
