Carson Palmer had a pretty solid career after sitting behind Jon Kitna, as well, and guy made Drew Bledsoe look mobile.
Jalen Hurts sat most of the year until Wentz went down, IIRC, and only started a few games.
Run the system.

He protected the ball (close pick 6), hit a few holes and had a nice run but still nothing yet to make me say "wow!".
Didn't care a whole ton about the loss so long as he keeps growing. The last drive was a little disappointing. He was cool and collected but I didn't see much urgency either.
What would make you say "wow!"?
He is going to have to learn to bring the team from behind to take the lead then watch the defense or special teams give that lead up and lose the game before I say wow.
If the offense played all gas and no brake, it wouldn't be an issue
If MLF had continued calling plays in the fourth quarter that kept Love in the rhythm he had going earlier, I think it's a W. But MLF turtled up and took the ball out of Love's hands. Then after Atlanta's long drive to take the lead, Love had to come out cold and try to win the game with no TOs, a long way to go, on the road in a loud dome, and in only his third start. That's a really tall task for anyone not named Rodgers or Brady. I'm okay with it as long as Love (and MLF) learn from it.

A completion would have been promising. Any complete pass.
This is where the great ones are defined. He was good today, but when he had a chance to be great, he went 0-4. Shit, did he have a complete pass in the 4th? I believed it was 2 three n outs prior to last drive, which was a 4 n out
No Watson, Jones, Bahk, or Jenks is huge. I would argue our four best offensive players. So he gets a pass. But still. Hit for 1 completion?
Rodgers eyes?

I agree that great QBs make throws in the fourth, but GB had only 10 offensive plays in the entire fourth quarter. On the first possession, it was two passes and a Dillon run; three Dillon runs on the second possession; and the four passes to end it. Love should have completed at least one pass. Totally agree. But, that second possession of three straight Dillon runs was a momentum killer. I know MLF was trying to kill clock, but Dillon was not doing much all day. And, I saw a young QB who got anxious and ahead of himself trying to win. He knew he had to score after Atlanta came within two. If there's one thing we see from Love, it's that he does get anxious to start a game and today we saw him get the same way when called upon to win it. He does have to learn to channel his emotions and keep his wits when the screws get tightened. Let's see how he does next time he's in the same spot.
To add on and in contrast, Atlanta had 23 plays in the fourth quarter alone, not including the kneel-down, and they had the last two plays in the third sandwiched around two GB penalties. That sucks.

Not encouraging. Need that killer close out. Saw it in Chicago, but they might be the worst team in the NFL.
Went into the game highly optimistic about the situation at QB and that hasn't changed. Love needs to play better at crunch time but it's his third start and it's just part of the growing process.

Once the Falcons made that 4th down conversion the Packers were dead unless they missed the FG. That drained the clock and any time outs the Packers had. The Falcons have an aggressive defense but even better when they don't have to honor check downs, underneath passes, and the running game.
The turning point clearly was the defense not getting a stop after going ahead 24-12. Even just allowing a FG keeps it a 2 score game. Falcons were dead and the defense gave them momentum.
I think Love is going to be just fine he just needs experience in tight game situations. I think it is pretty typical for most young QBs to get jittery at times and that is part of the learning process.
I am actually pretty happy so far because even though he has been in the Packers system for a few years now he is still basically a rookie based on playing time.
The Packers are 1-1 after 2 road games and could easily have been 2-0. I think plenty of people thought they would be 0-2 and maybe not even competitive. That was a tough loss but I'm happy where the Packers are, tied with DET after two games, no worse off than we were 2 weeks ago.
Love didn't lose the game yesterday.
Love didn't lose it, but neither did he win it. So far, he's been a bit better than I expected: more poised, good decisions, and better in the pocket. The tape will show in the fourth Q that he missed the wide-open Doubs and that he made a couple of bad throws at crunch time. He came close and if Toure had caught that ball -- a tough catch but not impossible -- it would have been really interesting to see what Love could have done. The next time he's in that spot, I want to see what he's learned.
Had that last throw been completed, that would have been a "wow" moment. There is video from the end zone on that play. He threaded that ball through 2 tight windows with a rusher in his face. Part of that is on Toure.
One thing, โฅ๏ธ will never make that mistake again when calling for a sneak eh??

Totally agree. It was a heck of a throw and certainly not an easy catch, but when I watched the replay I couldn't figure out why Toure had his hands about 15 inches apart?
He could have been trying to cast a wider net for the ball because his view was blocked by the defender in front of him - wasn't sure exactly where that ball was going.
