I think the Rams want to keep him and Stafford wants to stay but they adjusted his contract before last season so his 2025 cap hit is $50 million.  They’re going to have to adjust his contract for β€˜25 to make the numbers work.  

Giving Stafford permission to talk to other teams will let both sides figure out what his market value is next season.

AR being a free agent is probably good for the Rams because AR could be the Rams plan B which might drive down Stafford’s asking price. The Rams would be fools to think that they’d be better off with AR next season as opposed to Stafford, but AR would definitely be a solid plan B.
