Worth noting again:

These, including Hyde's, are some pretty gruesome numbers.

A spanking new corner in the 1st round, sign Davon House, and add a healthy Q Rollins/Gunther and I think GB's secondary is looking much better.

Arguing that any CB on the market isn't an upgrade over what we have ends with this graphic.  So yes, House would help our secondary in some capacity.

I'm ok with Hyde walking.  He's limited and isn't going to be worth the $4-5m he gets on the open market.

If you believe the Jacksonville papers, the QB rating when throwing against House this year was 153.3.  So there is a pretty decent chance he could actually be a downgrade.

Linsley is a better center than Tretter IMO.  Don't get me wrong, I like Tretter and think he has real value as a swingman (maybe one of the best in the entire league).  But if the coaching staff only thinks he'd make an average RG, then the smart move is to let him go and take the compensatory pick.  If that contract averages 5.25+ million per year it will likely be a fifth round pick.

Yah, as one comedian put it "the NFCC game was watched by 46 million people and the Packer secondary".

That is the funniest thing I have heard all day. It still stings but I had to laugh at that.

I am very torn on Hyde.  he seems like a high effort guy who did the best he could based upon his abilities and just isn't quite good enough as a corner.  He is versatile but really what impact has he had?  I am thinking that TT's plan is that they are ok with Randall, Rollins, Goodson, Gunter, and maybe a FA and drafting at the position.

Browns have a SCHIT ton of cap room (never a good sign). Makes sense they would pay him a load of money. Hope he enjoys the money, because that will continue to be the Factory of Sadness.

This is what concerned me going into free agency.  So much money that teams have to spend, no matter who they get.  Tretter fits the bill too, a guy who was a 4th round pick and needed to cash in on that second contract.  Plus, he gets to play with Joe Thomas and Joel Bitonio, so not like he's playing on a terrible unit.

And re: House and Jacksonville, that place was such a disaster that it's very hard to make definitive judgments.  IMO, getting House would be buying low on a player who has played well in our defense, who's stock was crushed by one of the worst franchises in the NFL.  I mean isn't that one of the Patriots main strategies, buying low on guys on crappy teams?

Here's a breakdown of Nick Perry's contract with the Packers: Five years, $60 million. Includes an $18.5 million signing bonus (the only guaranteed money). It also includes roster bonuses of $4.3 million in 2018 (payable the third day of the league year) and $4.8 million in 2019 (third day of the league year). Base salaries are: $1.3 million (2017), $1.9 million (2018), $5.2 million in 2019, $9.6 million in 2020, $9.4 million in 2021. There's another $5 million in per-game roster bonuses and workout bonuses.

More details on Nick's deal.

They gave Nick Perry $18.5 million plus $1.3 million this year and $1.9 million next year to prove he's earned the right to earn the rest. Call it $10.8 per for two years. If he's injured, sucks, not productive they'll eat the $4.3 roster bonus as dead money and cut him loose.

GB just signed the best available edge rusher in Free Agency. If he was signed from another team nobody would be talking about the contract. They'd be talking about Ted signing the best edge rusher available in Free Agency.

It's always about guaranteed coin. The Packers essentially gave him a 2 year deal. By year 3, if he's worth 9 mil a year, fine he'll get it. But the geenyous in this is also by that time CMIII is likely gone. They'll dump that annual salary and money committed to OLB isn't all that big and if Perry isn't worth it by then, its little to no cap hit.

I'm fine with letting him go if someone better is coming. I don't trust Randall or Rollins. Their first year looked promising, but last year was bad.  I'm not writing them off, but it is too risky to depend on them at this point.

it's been said, but I'll say it again, R&R were the 2015 Davante Adams in 2016.  let's see what the two look like when healthy again this fall before being convinced their injury-riddled 2016 season means they suck.  kriste.

Isn't that what I said?  Kriste, please read before you type.  They did suck last year period.  As I mentioned above, I am not ready to write them off.  I hope they turn into the best corner duo in the league, but last year does not leave me confident.

Troy posted R&R sucked.

Tdog posted their play may have been limited due to injury like Adams was in '15.

If anyone thinks they were good they should watch a different sport because they don't know what the hell they are watching.  I have never said they suck and always will suck.  They sucked last year and that is a fact.  Injuries could have played a major part.  They did look pretty damn good their rookie year.  I hope they have a comeback season like Davante.  I just can't be confident in it at this point.

**** it!  I blame Capers!

#Bills and #Lions Have "strong" interest in #Packers TE Jared Cook however Green Bay is also in the mix per reports.

I think Cook is trying to get a bit more money, but in the end, I see him staying in Green Bay.  He liked being on the Packers -- more specifically, playing with a HOF QB like Aaron Rodgers -- too much to move on after one season.  I fully expect the Packers to retain him.
