It appears Micah Hyde will hit the open market tomorrow. The versatile defensive back does not have an offer from the Packers, according to a source. Unless there's a last-minute change in Green Bay, he'll be a free agent. Expect multiple teams to be in the mix.

They better know what they are doing with the secondary.  It was an embarrassment last year.  Hyde made more big plays than anyone.  That would be a huge kick to the nuts if it is the same old suck.

I don't think Hyde is indispensable... his lack of speed was a continuous issue. He was a fine football player, but they have top picks invested already and a need for new blood.

It will be...Ted won't spend the money to fix the problem...we all know that.

I am also a handsome devil with a square chin, so yes.

And I too would eliminate the department of........um......let me get back to you on that one.

I'm going to miss Micah. He's like a big huge oversized recliner. It looks terrible. You probably got it cheap. And You don't know where to put it. But everyone loves it. It's damned near indestructable. Lots of great memories and its great knowing it's there. If recliners were racist.

Thanks Micah!

I'm fine with letting him go if someone better is coming. I don't trust Randall or Rollins. Their first year looked promising, but last year was bad.  I'm not writing them off, but it is too risky to depend on them at this point.

it's been said, but I'll say it again, R&R were the 2015 Davante Adams in 2016.  let's see what the two look like when healthy again this fall before being convinced their injury-riddled 2016 season means they suck.  kriste.

The Glennon deal really has no impact on Rodgers.  Following figures all from overthecap.com.  Rodgers' deal has over 10 million more guaranteed (54 million) than the currently reported value of the Glennon contract (43.5 million...and a good chance that less than half of that will be guaranteed).  Even though Rodgers signed that deal four years ago it still ranks 3rd in total value (Cutler, Luck...and Cutler is about to lose the back end of his contract), 1st in guaranteed value (even more guaranteed money than the Luck deal) and the average yearly cap number ranks 5th.  It was a fair deal, still is a fair deal, and Thompson probably won't feel bad for Rodgers when he'll be earning 19.8 million in 2018 and 20 million in 2019.  Yes, those numbers could end up being 7 to 8 million dollars less than what the top paid QB will be making in 2019 but Rodgers had already long collected that guaranteed 54 million which was a top number back in 2013 (still is the top number 4 years later which is pretty incredible).

I had Cook in the 7 million range but all indications this morning was that I overshot his value.  Sounds like he'll fit more in the 5 to 5.5 million range.  Will be very happy to see him back, another year of Richard Rodgers being the primary TE receiving target is just too hard on the eyes.

Will be very interested to see if the Perry deal tops 11 million in average value.

Hyde often had more opportunity to make plays because he was the designated target for opposing offenses.

Worth noting again:

These, including Hyde's, are some pretty gruesome numbers.

A spanking new corner in the 1st round, sign Davon House, and add a healthy Q Rollins/Gunther and I think GB's secondary is looking much better.

I thought Cook's value was going to be capped around $5m, only b/c he already has such a long track record of mediocrity with Tennessee and St Louis.  He had a pretty good half season with Rodgers but the league has already seen what happens to guys like Jennings and Jones without Rodgers.  So I figured he wasn't going to be in high demand.

And I saw Perry got $11-12m per year.  I was thinking it'd $9-10m but after all the premier pass rushers were tagged or resigned, Perry became the top pass rusher on the market.  And I know the narrative on him is a one year wonder in a contract year but he actually was a stud in the 2015 playoffs (3.5 sacks), so goes back further than just 2016.  I just think he struggled with injuries early in his career as wells as the position switch, so took him longer to realize his potential.  But he's played pretty well the last 22 games (16.5 sacks in 2015 playoffs and 2016 regular season and playoffs).  He's also a very good run defender and is only 26.  Yeah there is risk but there is also huge risk in letting him go and being left with no pass rush.

Arguing that any CB on the market isn't an upgrade over what we have ends with this graphic.  So yes, House would help our secondary in some capacity.

I'm ok with Hyde walking.  He's limited and isn't going to be worth the $4-5m he gets on the open market.

A little surprised they were able to keep Perry. Not really surprised the deal got done today. As noted, that's the way Thompson works. Little fanfare, and a deal that works for both sides.

Also, good to hear a Cook deal is close.

Perry signing is huge and it'll be interesting to see the numbers. Really good player and the only real question about him has always been his ability to stay healthy

That could be, and has been, said about CM3 as well the past few years.
