Luckily the Bustin Harrell experience didn't prevent us from taking Kenny Clark.

If you recall, the Packers had their choice of D-linemen in that draft, and Kenny was not really the consensus top tackle. The Packers made the best choice, though.

Note: Upon further review, Sheldon Rankins went to the Saints with the 12th pick. Kenny was the second DT off the board. Chris Jones has also had a nice career, but I'd still take Clark.

Wow...Tyreke Hill was a 5th rounder in that draft.

The guy I'd really like is Zaven Collins. He's likely to be a better Preston in pass rush, coverage and run defense. Plus, you really want at least three pass rushers and Preston may well be gone. Using Boris' PFF link:

Of course I think Keith Taylor is long gone by then, he'd probably be in the Dyami Brown spot, at the latest, but the general idea of the early/late handcuffs is likely to be at corner and one other spot, I'm guessing

I’m okay with an edge rusher.  I’m okay with any defense at this point.  It would also make Preston expendable.

I’m betting CB early.

I also am okay with defense at this point.  I I agree I think it could be CB early but wouldn't be shocked to see them go ILB.  they have to get a couple of CBs and I think they really need to finally address ILB.  If you watch Tampa's defense you see how they can wreck another teams offense if you have ILBs who can run, cover, and be physical.

I also wouldn't complain if they went DE early.  You cannot win in the NFL if you are putting players like Lancaster and Lowry on the field.  Gutsy guys but you need difference makers.

Offensively, depending on what happens with Linsley they will need some depth on the OL and another WR playmaker.  I wouldn't mind a pick of a tackle so they can replace Wagner soon.

It'll be very interesting to see how the cap moves affect the draft. For example, if Preston is a cap cut, Edge 'backer could be #1 or #2.

1. Zaven Collins - My favorite. Seems to be the most versatile guy with the fewest question marks, ala Josh Allen from KY in '19, though probably between Allen and Zack Baun as a pure athlete.

2. Gregory Rosseau - Freakish talent who opted out of Miami for 2020 so he's raw. Might be more Z/Gary type and need some time.

3. Jaelen Phillips - Another freakish talent who played great for Miami this year, but he was sidelined by injuries and concussions at UCLA prior to transferring.

4. Azeez Ojulari - Already playing 3-4 OLB at GA, though may get dinged for being shorter than desired.

5. Jayson Oweh - Another freakish-but-raw talent

6. Patrick Johnson - Another ridiculously versatile guy like Collins, though like Ojulari, might be a bit shorter than desired.

Collins and Johnson are my favorites as I'd think they'd be the best chess pieces. Phillips' injury history would give me pause.

Thinking the Pack will have 10 picks to start the draft due to comp picks for Martinez, Bulaga, and Fackrell.  My wish list:

CB, DL, OL (2 each); WR, RB, LB (1 each); last pick can be a ST demon, preferably a WR or LB

Need at least 2 legitimate contributors from these picks.  Dillon and Deguara will provide nice contributions in 2021, so that will make 4 impact players needed to reload.  Factor in guys like Kamal Martin, Barnes, Runyan, Stepaniak, and a few other draft picks in this draft to be nice contributors, massive success is completely doable.

Yeah; first we have to have the combine, where everybody here will pick their favorite player they'll spend the next five years bitching about Gutekunst not drafting.

There will be no combine this year. Covid-19 rears it's ugly head, once again. This time, the combine would fall just when the new African variant makes it's way across the country.

Fun scenario: Rodgers wants security/clarity and he wants the team to go all-in BUT it is obviously a business and he can't fuck up the QB market or screw himself by taking less money. What if GB takes his existing contract, which looks like:

YEAR202120222023
BASE SALARY$15,050,000$25,000,000$25,000,000
SIGNING$11,500,000$11,500,000-
ROSTER$6,800,000--
WORKOUT$500,000$500,000$500,000
RESTRUCTURE$2,852,000$2,852,000$2,852,000
MISC.$870,000--
CAP HIT$37,572,000$39,852,000$28,352,000
DEAD CAP$31,556,000$17,204,000$2,852,000

Restructures the whole deal, adds 2 years, guarantees the whole show (ala Kirk Cousins) and pays out a fuck load of money up front to spread the whole amount over 5 years. Looks more like:

YEAR20212022202320242025
BASE SALARY$5,000,000$5,000,000$10,000,000$25,000,000$25,000,000
SIGNING$66,276,000---
ROSTER-----
WORKOUT$500,000$500,000$500,000$5,000,000$5,000,000
RESTRUCTURE
MISC.-----
CAP HIT$18,755,200$18,755,200$23,755,200$43,255,200$43,255,200
DEAD CAP$18,755,200$18,755,200$23,755,200$43,255,200$43,255,200

That reduces his cap hit in '21 by $19M and reduces his '22 cap hit by $21M. GB says "we're going to take this money and go all-in" re-signing Linsley, Jones, maybe trading Love to recoup some value and maybe trading for a guy like JJ Watt (just an example), adding a starting CB, etc. Basically giving Rodgers everything he needs to get at least 1 more championship. 1) Do you think Rodgers does it, is it beneficial for him and 2) is that a beneficial situation for GB or is it a bad idea to commit long term to a QB basically in his last couple years?
