I don't know Doc Benni

Unfortunately, Doc Benni isn't a friend of mine

And you sir, are no Doc Benni

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FinnLander is right - not everyone wants to be in GB.  CB Charles Woodson didn't want to be in GB.  But there were no other offers so if he wanted to play football he had to take the Packer offer.  He has openly said this a few times.  So he came to GB and resurrected his career.  WR Donald Driver said GB wasn't his first choice either.  But they drafted him and things worked out so well that his wife told him she wanted to stay in GB for his last contract.  Over the years there have been others.  Here is a short list of reasons given:

1.  The cold.  The weather in December and January can be brutal at times.  Some players don't like it.  And closely tied to this is the lack of a dome.  But the Packer organization and the fans love their traditions - and playing out doors is among them - ice bowl or not.  Brockers just got a chance a couple of months ago to try out that weather - may he did not like it.

2.  The small town atmosphere.  Most people are Packer fans and know who the players are on sight.  They get asked questions, people want autographs, etc.  One player said it was "living in a fish bowl".  Some players want to play in a big impersonal city.

3.  The lack of a "night life".  Your just not going to find what NO, LA, Chicago, etc. has to offer along those lines in GB.  Players have to travel down to Milwaukee to find anything comparable.  That is not very appealing.

4.  The lack of a national press presence.  National writers have to fly into Milwaukee and the drive up or fly in on a smaller plane - not the way to endear the team to writers who think they are also entitled.  The players get plenty of attention from local Packer beat writers.  But getting the national press to come to GB?  Not unless it is a nationally televised game.  Some players come to like the relative quiet.   But some players think they need it to sign with GB.

We always find out after the fact about these things.  The clear message is GB and/or the Packers are not for every player out there.  If they have choices they will go where they think the fit is best.  Some find they love it in GB after they get there, but they had to take a chance first - and many won't do it.

And I really don’t want em if they don’t like or want to come to Green Bay, guess they’re NOT Packer People anyway.

I was thinking Jay Glazer is his "source", with which he won't share anymore.

I have never heard the fainting story. Who was it?  Randy Wright? David Whitehurst?

Randy Wright.  In fairness he was recovering from the flu and was dehydrated.  Fainted before a play in the 1st quarter and Vince Ferragamo had to finish the game.  42-7 loss.

Let’s thank whatever governs the universe that the Pack was able to come out of that death spiral in the late ‘80s/early 90s and become the truly great organization they are today.  I still think they’re great despite not being able to land Michael Brockers like the Loins did.  😀

KonKrete, thanks for the kind words.  I like to think of myself as friends to everyone that roots for the Packers and especially those on X4.  Unfortunately, my inside sources are drying up.  The only one remaining is Mason Crosby.  He lives next door to my parents.  My brother is an acquaintance of Elliot Wolf so that's gone.  Also, we are close friends with the radiologist that read all the MRI's for the Packers; however, he has retired.

Akiem Hicks available for trade. Have to take on his ~$10M cap hit, but Chicago’s D is just different when he’s out. Probably won’t trade him in the division, but man he would be a great piece next to KC!

Now that, is an end to an era.

In '86 Brandon was still some starry-eyed kid sitting on grandpa's lap watching the Packers go up and down from season to season.

in '89 I was watching games at County Stadium in Milwaukee, pouring Secret Stadium Sauce on my chest & writing the word "Majik" in the sauce.

Same dude who didn't want to sign with the Packers last year because he didn't want to play in cold weather.

He's just happy to have a contract. He would've played on the Jets if they paid him.

Agreed, but he's had trouble staying on the field.

Letting Boyle walk is just another sign that Gute is committed to Love.  Won’t be long until Rodgers is sent packing!

Do I have that right?  I’m trying to follow the logic I’ve seen in this thread.

Small cult.

Boyle is at legendary status for one statistical thing.

As a Packer, he completed 3 of 4 passes for 15 yards and was credited with 18 rushes for -16 yards.

In other words, in 22 offensive plays he's at -1 yards of offense for his career.

I would guess he might have the most offensive plays in NFL history for a skill position player while having career negative yards from scrimmage.
