Wilson is actually smaller than Olave but isn’t afraid to mix it up in traffic.
I didn’t realize Olave was 6’1” he plays smaller than that.
I’d be thrilled if they got either of them. I think both guys will be solid players.

I like the Greg Jennings comparison with Olave. He may never be an elite WR but he’s got a chance to be in the next group sort of like Jennings who was very good, not quite great.
Maybe the Pack downgrades Olave on their board as he may not help much in their running scheme?

If he's not going to be an elite WR you don't draft him in round 1. Now, I get drafting at 28 is not much different than the high 2nd, but I'm still a fan of BPA in the 1st because there will always be needs, and the 5th year option thing is important truly elite players.
Depends where the drop off is in RD1.

I tend to agree with you with pick #22. I’m not convinced they’ll pick a WR there. I think their hand is sort of forced to take a WR with that second 1st rounder though. I fear a run on immediate impact WRs by the time the Pack picks with their first 2nd round pick.
Maybe the Pack trades moves that second first rounder up or down in draft order depending on what they think matches the value. I definitely don’t think they move it too far down if they do trade back into 2nd round.
When do the Packers ever draft someone the fans expect them to draft?

Probably the last one I can remember in the 1st tound might gave been HaHa Clinton-Dix. In hindsight, he was nothing special but he was highly regarded going into that draft and helped fill a need.
A guy like Kenny Clark, I think being from UCLA many of us including myself feared he’d be another Datone Jones, but he turned into an excellent pick.

Tony Mandarich...but I wanted Barry Sanders

Mandarich
I knew they were going to make a mistake and draft Gary

Ah, you beat me to it.
Our highest need is at receiver, but other than that, we have needs all over. I think that kind of forces us into taking a WR in the first round in order to get a receiver that can have some impact year one, and another one in the first if there is another impact receiver there, but I wouldn't trade up for anyone since there are no guarantees. Other than that, BPA and a ST player or two in the late rounds. That's my totally unqualified opinion.

When I was a kid I remember I really wanted us to draft Paul Hornung. Years & years later he dropped me a note that said " To the Grinder ; Good Luck " True Story !

I was against that pick. If only they had listened to me…they’d have drafted Darqueze Dennard who was an even bigger bust😉

Quite a few times, actually. Vonnie, Barnett, Rodgers, Matthews, Rollins, Madison, Jake Hanson and Van Lanen
@vitaflo posted:Honestly the only WR's I would put in the 1st Round are Wilson and Williams (even with the injury). Probably neither make it to the Pack, but when I see a guy like Olave that everyone is clamoring over I just see another Lazard-type possession receiver.
Wilson and Williams bring talent that we simply don't have at WR. I think 1st rounders need to bring something special to be considered 1st rounders (at any position). Outside of those two I don't see anything special about any of the other WR's that warrant them being taken over some other position with similar special abilities.
To me, Olave is one of those guys that peaked in college.
Living near Columbus i have seen Olave play a lot during his time at OSU. He is very fast, very agile, great hands, and seems like a really hard working kid. My knock on him is that he isn't that big and I would worry some that he needs to block on the NFL for the running game.
As for the Mandarich pick I so badly wanted them to pick Barry Sanders. But I still believe it was that draft pick that eventually had the team turning it around and getting the right FO pieces in place.

Totally agree. I believe they would have had enough success with Sanders that they never would have overhauled and brought in a new GM, HC and ultimately trade for Favre.
Besides Sanders, didn't the Packers also have chances to draft Montana, Marino, and Ronnie Lott? There may be others that escape memory right now, but those seemed most obvious.
Lott was the miss I didn't realize until yrs later.

I say that about myself all the time. <sigh>
I think Olave is near the top of the Packers WR board and should be available in the 1st Round. Karlaftis should be available at #22, as well.

I'm also always a little concerned when there are 2 top WR's from the same team. How much of defenses trying to stop Wilson meant Olave was more open or had an easier time getting open? Of course you could say the same about Wilson.
Packers hosting Jameson Williams
So cross him off the list.
CBS Sports says we trade up with Baltimore to get Drake London and then take Olave at 28

"They give Baltimore the 22nd pick along with some late picks."
To move up 8 spots in the 1st? These people are really desperate for clicks.

Hmmm? So now they have Olave falling that far? I could see Olave falling out of the first.
Lots of dreams about WRs in R1. There are plenty on Day 2. I'd be happy if GB took two defensive players on Day 1... The safety from Michigan and one of the Georgia DTs would be just fine.
Just wait til they take a RB in the 3rd
(extra games make RB's more valuable after being devalued as dime a dozen for awhile)
Some Jameson Williams Highlights
Best move they could make is secure back to back picks in the first so 22-23 or 21-22 then pick 2 guys we have way too many picks
Trading back out of R1 on one of the picks creates a ton of options. I think the sweet spot in this draft is R2 and R3. But hey, I’m just a fucking dumdum draft hack.
