Trading back out of R1 on one of the picks creates a ton of options. I think the sweet spot in this draft is R2 and R3. But hey, I’m just a fucking dumdum draft hack.

I agree that trading one of the 1's should be an option, if the right deal is there.

There is a lot of value in the mid rounds...we already have 5 picks in 2-4, though...

Lots of dreams about WRs in R1.  There are plenty on Day 2.  I'd be happy if GB took two defensive players on Day 1...  The safety from Michigan and one of the Georgia DTs would be just fine.

Lewis Cine S from UGA is definitely more in their wheelhouse over the kid from Michigan....bigger, faster and more twitchy. Some think he may not get past pick 14. If the Packers can get him, he's a no-brainer. UGA DB's in the last  couple years have had great success in the NFL.

Cine and Hill seem to have different play styles .  Hill seems more like a secondary coverage player, almost CB-like, while Cine seems to be more of a get in the scrum bruiser, almost ILB-like (sans the size).

Given the amount of pure coverage players they have now (Stokes, Douglas, Jaire) I can see them thinking Cine fits in better with his skill set even if he's not as good in coverage as Hill is.  There's no doubt Cine doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.  30 seconds of tape will show he's a hell of a hitter.

I sure like the way this mock turned out...one minor trade, picking up an extra 5th rounder from SF. Other than that....stood pat and got a good haul...

Somehow, Penning slides to 28. Going by the CHTV guide, it looks as though Penning doesn't fit the team's mold. Zion Johnson could be the pick there, instead. He was on the board.... Olave at 22 seems like a no-brainer.

Yep, build a top 3 defense.

I'd like that too, but right now we have the worst WR group in the NFL in need of serious rebuilding - there's that whole scoring points thing.  I think, unfortunately, it almost forces us to address WR with the first two picks unless there's an absolute no brainer at one of those spots.  Hate being in that position, but not spending high draft picks at the WR position (or IL) for like the last umpteen years will do that to you.  The chances of getting a blue chipper in round 2 or beyond drop off considerably.  Defense is the least of our needs right now, even though we can certainly use some good picks there.  But I'll be the first to admit I don't know shit about drafting, and it won't go the way we think anyway, although it's fun to speculate.  Packmeister may be the closest we have on this board to being a draft expert.

Thanks, bud...     I'm just a fan, too...and I've certainly been way off before, with my projections...lol As a matter of fact, rarely on par with whom or where the Packers pick. It's still a fun exercise.

What these mocks show, from my perspective, is that I think the team doesn't really need to move around all that much to wind up with a deep, talented roster of picks. I see enough decent players on the board where they don't need to lock in on any one player. If one guy gets drafted that they want, then they can find the next guy, or the next, depending on where they're ranked on the Packers' board. They may want to take a so-called reach on a guy simply because he won't be there by the time they make their next pick. I don't have a problem with that. For example, the Bo Melton pick at #172....he's not rated that high, but he's not likely there at #228, when they pick again. Without a pick in the 6th round, it's a long wait until the 7th. But, by that time, their lineup of picks should be looking quite good.

I'd rather we took Cine over Hill. He's plenty fast enough, and probably stronger against the run. There are good coverage safeties available later on...guys like Nick Cross, JT Woods, and Tycen Anderson...plus, there's Kirby Joseph and Leon O'Neal...a very good safety class, IMO.

There are a number of issues with Cine over Hill, though:

1. The Packers like their safeties to be interchangeable. Cine is less-so than numerous others.

2. The Packers have corners who are good blitzers. This means safeties will need to cover more then.

3. The Packers don't have a super athletic LB who can drop and cover, meaning the safeties have to account for that.

4. Darnell Savage has missed games two-of-three seasons and was dinged up last year, missing numerous plays.

5. Coverage aside, the knock on Cine is he gets sloppy going for the big hit and whiffs. Not ideal for a safety, though all too common for Packers defenders.

6. Slot coverage is lacking, unless you want to lock Alexander inside and expect him to be healthy for basically every slot snap this season, and then they're still lacking in dime. Even in zone, the lack of an athletic linebacker means limits in coverage.

You'd like Hill to be bigger, Pitre too, but they probably fit more what the Packers want from the position. If they want a missile specialist, they can take Sterling Weatherford much later as a special teams gunner and specialized blitzkrieg box safety.

In the last mock I did on Draft Network, Devonte Wyatt fell to the Packers at #22. Olave was there at 28. At #53 I was able to get LB Nakobe Dean. Then, at #59, I picked WR Jalen Tolbert. Tolbert fits the Packers, like a glove. Good blocker in the run game and can catch the ball, which is good, for a WR! Picked up Edge Rusher Tyreke Smith, at #92. #132 had Dare Rosenthal, OT. Some say Dare could be "the steal of the draft." #140 got us speedy WR/STs guy, Tyquan Thornton. #171 landed TE Charlie Kolar, of Iowa St., another good fit for the Pack. 7th round got Erik Ekunzanma, WR, Texas Tech at pick 228 and Safety Smoke Monday at #249. We'll see how Gute and Co see the board. Betting they do not go WR with #22, though.

You're hired!

NFL network guys speculating QB's will go earlier, I don't think it is the craziest thing I have heard.  This QB class doesn't seem to grade well, but.. QB's.  There are needs and I would love to see teams overdraft on them.

I also don't think Watkins changes the draft strategy.  I see the Pack moving up in the draft and taking the defensive guy they want.  WR will come in the 2nd and 3rd round.   A RB will come off the board earlier than anyone thinks it should happen.

The last few boards I've seen, have Olave, Jordan Davis and even Devonte Wyatt gone before the Packers Pick at #22. Daxton Hill, Jacquan Brisker and Lewis Cine, all Safeties, are still available, though. We do need a Safety, especially when both Amos's and Savage's futures with the team are up in the air after next season. Who do we like there?  By Round 2, I believe all are gone, by the time the Packers pick at 53.

Interesting. If that’s the case I can see Gutie moving around the board and looking for value regardless of round. I can’t predict if it’s up or down. Maybe it’s both.

That’s a LOT of receivers.

This is a very interesting situation. How many WRs do they want to break camp with?

Seemingly locks: Lazard, Cobb, Watkins, Amari

Garbage, but in camp: Winfree, Malik Taylor, Blair, Gafford

If they see Amari as their primary return guy, would they keep seven? With Watkins, do they take two, or three? At least one will almost have to be by the end of day 2.

I'd think GB will either have to draft 2 or trade for 1 and draft another.

I still like Burks a lot.

One scouting summary on Burks:

"Overall, Burks is underdeveloped as an outside route runner, but he is a dynamic weapon with the ball in his hands and boasts the unique blend of size, athleticism and ball skills to grow into an NFL team’s No. 1 receiver. He compares to a linebacker-sized Deebo Samuel in a similar scheme."

If you know we would take 2 WR with our first 3 picks in the 1st and 2nd round, what pair would you want?

Id be ecstatic with a Pickens/Watson or Burks/Watson combo. But I think Watson could be available in later rounds

imagine a Burks/Pickens combo in the 1st and Edge Rusher like Enagbare/ Watson combo in the 2nd
