With the loss, the Packers are locked into #15 in the draft.
Add Love and Mayer to the offense and I'm very intrigued. Otherwise go OL
They can trade that and Rodgers to the bears for the #1
Very real possibility Gutey goes OLB or Safety in round 1 in order to add an 8th first round pick to a defense that finished in the bottom half of the NFL in 2022.
They do need a S, possible 2.
I wouldn't complain going D again @15 if it was truly BPA. Hopefully not an outlier but Gute showed last year you can get O talent in middle rounds.
"In the 2nd round of the 2023 NFL draft, the Green Bay Packers select Luke Schoonmaker, TE from Michigan." I would love to see Schoonmaker going up against Hutchinson twice a year for a few years.
They need to get a reliable receiver with size from somewhere. Home run balls are great for highlights when they work, but this year showed they need a grinder when they get in close because they didnβt have the horses to.make teams pay for selling out against the run near the stripe.
@FLPACKER posted:Don't like Washington ....he is 39 year old Mercedes Lewis. From what I have been able to find, workouts place his forty time in the 4.75-4.80 range.
This is disappointing. I know UGA was featuring their other TE as a move/receiver and entrenching Washington as a Marcedes Lewis clone on their OL. I hadn't seen any reports on his 40 or estimated RAS and thought he was just underutilized because I did see him make a few nice catches. But now the bigger picture makes sense. Regardless, I have seen him in RD01 mocks.
#15 overall picks from the last 8 years:
2022 - Kenyon Green, OL, Texas A&M
2021 - Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
2020 - Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
2019 - Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State
2018 - Kolton Miller, OL, UCLA
2017 - Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State
2016 - Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor
2015 - Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
Doesn't mean much. Have to look at the next 10 players still available.
WR slot guy from OSU, DE/OLB/Pass rusher, then TE + S - i recall that S and TE don't carry the high draft price tag, so round 2,3
Looks like a very deep DB/CB group in R1. Given issues with Savage and uncertainty with Stokes returning it would not shock me to see them take a DB if the WR isnβt there.
S, LB probably in the first, lots of offensive lineman and a te or two.
Need more in the wide receiver room even with Doubs and Watsons improvement
kicker
Trade 12 to Denver (or anyone) and get more draft picks. Turn the page and build on Love.
They're not going WR in RD1 at #15.
I dunno, people like that TE from ND, he seems real clumsy to me, big guy, but not real athletic?
maybe they could take a highly athletic linebacker who can shove trainers from opposing teams during critical times in games. thatβs what they need! thanks gutey! youβre awesome!
We are totally trading down from 15
Barring the unexpected, I think the Packers have to look at OLB/Edge if they pick in the first round. Of course, this assumes that such a player that fills that bill is available.
There's always a need for CB and S, but if the need for pass rush opposite Gary is greater. We can work with what we have on the DL, ILB, and possibly the backfield, so the immediate need at those positions isn't there.
On the other side of the coin, if they made a pick for offense, the most immediate need is at G and TE, but I don't know that either of those positions are worth a 1st round pick. And the same assumption about player value/availability applies.
This kid is a possibility
I hope not at 15. Wilson lacks top end burst as a pass rusher. Great length and strength, just not that twitch you'd like to see in the top half of Round 1.
Will probably need a good receiver or a lot of money. Looks like Lazard doesn't see himself back in Green Bay.

I totally agree. The needs of this team are many and an extra pick or 2 will help.
Iβll go with the guy at 15 nobody has mentioned yet because there will be so many risers and fallers over the next 3 1/2 months.
I think heβs a pretty good pick, should be able to contribute immediately.

Of course a lot will depend on what moves they make for the cap and what if anything happens in free agency but I wouldn't be one bit shocked if they went defense in the first round.
They will need a DE/Edge because you always need a pass rush and they need some desperate help at safety. I don't care what position it is as long as its someone who can help stop the run and actually tackle.
They also need to figure out the right side of the offensive line and get more help at WR and TE. Right now they have Watson to stretch the field but they need some other threats.
GB likes young, elite athletes, and only target a few positions in R1. Doubt we see them look at TE or RB or interior OL in R1, probably not WR either unless there's a fall or a juicy trade opportunity. Guys I feel like are most realistic at this point in the draft process:
15-20
Myles Murphy/Edge/Clemson
Quentin Johnston/WR/TCU
Brian Branch/DB/Alabama
Jaxon Smith-Njigba/WR/Ohio St.
Paris Johnson/OT/Ohio St.
20-32
Felix Anudike-Uzomah/Edge/Kansas St
Antonio Johnson/DB/TAMU
BJ Ojulari/Edge/LSU
Drew Sanders/Edge/Arkansas
They will rise and fall, but this feels most realistic (right now) for 15 and any potential trade downs or trade ups into the 20's/30's. Maybe they trade up into the top 10 for a guy like Skoronski, but I doubt it. Branch feels like a guy that could rise out of our range, but feels like a Gute pick. Drafting Branch or Johnson will tell you which Safety is going to be released, because they're each a replacement for Savage and Amos respectively. Doubt they cut both Safeties, but one will definitely be gone (probably Savage). Drew Sanders is one to keep an eye on in workouts I think, he has a heavy Clay Matthews vibe. He's been an off the ball LB, but I really think he's destined for the edge and will be elite. If he has elite workout numbers he's going to rise into the top 20 and I think GB will target...elite instincts and vision, huge frame.
Branch totally feels like a Guter.
Musgrave missed almost the entire year. Something not right there. No explanation was given by the team regarding his absence.
I could see Kincaid in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Kincaid looks great, 2nd rounder for sure. Reminds a lot of Travis Kelce coming out.
@DH13 posted:Currently shows #9. But I think ARZ and CHI will finish with better records than GB. The other teams look just as bad.
There are reasons I never make predictions on this board.
Thanks, jackass.

I did a mock, already, on FanSpeak and Quentin Johnston,WR of TCU, went #2, overall to the Texans. He'd look good in Green and Gold, wouldn't he? Lots of OTs were off the board by GB's pick at 15. I think the Packers pass on an OT, in the 1st round, especially if Paris Johnson, of Ohio State, is already gone, though, because of Zach Tom, Rasheed Walker, Caleb Jones and even, dare I say it, Royce Newman on the bench. The guy I got at 15 was TE Michael Mayer, of Notre Dame. This pick was based on need as I feel Marcedes Lewis will hang it up and that Lazard, our best blocking WR, wants out of GB, and also for BPA. Mayer was off the board by the time our 2nd Round pick came around. An interesting note was that, with the last GB pick, in the 7th round, I was able to select Stetson Bennett IV, QB from Georgia. He might be a good back up for Love, if Love starts, next season. Admittedly, I know little about most of the college players in the draft, but I followed the top boards I found, for each position. I like Drew Sanders as an Edge guy, too. He may be available at #15.
I genuinely would hope that if a guy like Paris Johnson or Skoronski are available to GB that they would not pass on them in favor of guys like Tom, Walker, or Nijman. This year's WR group is actually pretty good IMO, I think GB will be able to find some keepers on Day 2 and Day 3, but guys like Johnston and the OSU kid are available at 15 then take them. They're true #1's.
I would like to have a legit TE, but I don't believe GB values that position enough to invest a R1 pick. I don't think RB, TE, OG, or C are positions that they value in R1 seemingly.
Seems like GB's theory is that they want to take the youngest athlete with the highest athletic ceiling and trust their program to unlock the talent. Worked with Jaire, Gary, and Clark, but maybe not so much with Savage.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba/WR/Ohio State is a name that will be thrown out a lot. A bit of caution on him is that I think he only played about 2 games all year and then was out with a hamstring the rest of the year. A guy who would fill the need in the slot and at WR but I have to wonder how healthy he is.
I still say they that Edge/OLB will be their pick but going with someone at RT wouldn't shock me one bit. Gute to me has show one track record and that is he values defense and offensive line in the draft.

He got fucked up in the Fresno State game...came off gimpy. My guess is it was an MCL and/or high ankle sprain as he did eventually return.

Skoronski is the real deal...I think he will be long gone by 15. The Packer tie-in would just make it even better.
He can step in at RT, and in 2 years when Bakh goes, he can flip on over to LT.
Why do people think Offensive lineman can just flip from right to left or left to right?
