Even though Aaron Jones isn't necessarily thought of as a "power back", he surprisingly does well when he has to lower his shoulder.
Dillon is supposed to be, and he has shown that he can be, but he hasn't shown he can do that consistently game over game.
If the Packers draft a RB, I'd hope he is as fast as greased lightning. That's what the offense needs after giving opposing defenses a steady dose of Jones and Dillon.
JMHO, others may vary.

That is why it is maddening to me why they appeared to prefer to use Dillon over Jones inside the 5 yard line. Of all backs with at least 150 carries, Jones ranked 8th in "yards gained after contact", while Dillion was 26th. Our o-line is not the like the Lions, who just use double teams that allow Williams to never have to face an unblocked defender in the hole. Jones has a much better chance to fluidly turn his body to find a crease, whereas Dillon has to practically stop his momentum to do so.
@Packmeister posted:Here are some running backs I like from the 4th round on (in no particular order):
Zach Evans - Ole Miss 6' 215lbs
Chase Brown - Fighting Illini - 5'11" 205 lbs
Tyjae Spears - Tulane - 5'10" 195 lbs
Eric Gray - Oklahoma - 5'10" - 211 lbs
Kenny McIntosh - Georgia - 6'1" 210 lbs
Chris Rodriguez, Jr. - Kentucky - 5'11" 224 lbs
Mohamed Ibrahim - Minnesota - 5'10" 210 lbs (injury concerns, but the talent is there - late-round flyer to develop him)
Evan Hull - Northwestern - 5'11" 210 lbs
Hunter Luepke (FullBack) - North Dakota State - 6'1" 236 lbs
I haven't followed the college players too much, this past season, but from what I've heard, Kenny McIntosh is a really solid receiver, out of the backfield. He would fit into GB's offense, well, if that's the case.
A big tight end that can catch and bulldoze. I don't give a damn who he is or where he's from.

Georgia Bulldogs. Initials D.W.
He's decent. I like his teammate Brock Bowers a whole lot better. I don't think he's draft eligible though.

If you really want to have an honest debate I would like evidence gleaned from scientific papers showing proper evidence and I would be willing to do the same. These days, thatβs my threshold. Too many bullshit opinions out there masquerading as facts. Otherwise, I donβt actually care. Nor do I consider myself to be all that learned on the topic. This I am convinced of though. You probably donβt know what you are talking about. But, your right to keep talking and my right to give you shit. Feel free to tell me to fuck off
I feel like you struggle keeping up with current events.
And plagiarism.
Itβs a bit wordy, but that is my mission statement going forward.
Darnell Washington is a "gettable" TE for the Packers. I did a mock draft that had him going to the Packers in the 4th Round. I really like Michael Mayer, but I see a lot of people here don't want to spend a 1st round pick on him-- and he will be off the board by our 2nd round pick. Some mocks have him gone at pick 14.
Here's a mock I did on Fanspeak: Round 1: Jalen Carter, DL Georgia. 2: Dawana Jones, OT OSU. 3: Christian Gonzalez, CB Oregon; 4: Darnell Washington, TE Georgia; 5: Jammie Robinson, Safety, Fla St. 7: Jake Moreno Cropper, WR Fresno; Tre Tucker, WR Cincinnati; Tucker Kraft, TE South Dakota State. The first 5 guys drafted were in the top five rankings, of their positions. I had a choice of Bijan Robinson, RB,Texas or Jalen Carter, the DL guy from Georgia, with pick #1.

I am no expert but I believe Washington will be long gone before the 4th round maybe even the 3rd. The guy is a freak but so is Bijan Robinson the ole "give'em a leg and take it away".
But I do agree we might need another edge rusher early if Gary does not come back right away.

This is where I usually ignore the algorithm. Unless Carter gets caught sniffing cocaine off of puppies he's probably a top-5 pick even if two QBs go. Will Anderson and Miles Murphy are edge guys that will likely be in the top-5 mix, as well.

Yep, it's way early to do any drafts, but since the Packers season is over...I think Carter is a stud, and will be long gone by #15. Thinking our only chance of getting Anderson, Carter or Murphy is if Gute moves up the board. Who knows? Several months of draft pick speculation coming and who knows who on this team, now, will still be on this team, when it's time to deal with the cap, etc.
There is always a certain player that could be traded for a high draft choice.
Currently Darnell Washington is all over the board. Some have him as high as late RD1, some RD3. He is built and has been used almost exactly like M. Lewis has been used in GB, mostly as a 6th OL. His 40 right now is listed in the high 4.6's, only a blink slower than Mayer. His teammate Bowers was out of his mind at the end of the year and he rightfully got more looks. It's hard to tell what Washington's abilities are as a receiving threat. Bowers is only a sophomore.
Here's some highlights of Washington. He could definitely be a red zone weapon with his height, strength and hands. Between the 20's, I'm not sure, because he seems to run high and a bit slow. It doesn't seem like he will be a guy who threatens the defense like a Travis Kelce or a George Kittle.
I really do like his hands, though. He wouldn't be a bad pick...it just depends on where we can get him.
If he doesnβt threaten the D he sounds like he is just our type. Trade up!
Right now all the information we have on where prospects go in the draft comes from "experts," and our own eyes. A lot goes into where guys are drafted...how football smart they are, if they are good citizens, etc.
As we get closer to the draft, and the processes like the Senior Bowl, Combine, pro days, etc complete, we start to get more info to better shape where guys will go.
Even "experts" get it wrong. I remember seeing Indiana WR Whop Philyor get mocked everywhere from 2nd round to 5th round...dude was an UDFA to the Queens and didn't even make it out of training camp and is making a living with the Michigan Panthers right now.
To me, UGA TE looks like the best one on the board from his highlight film...but WTF do I know? He may be the most physically gifted, but may be an absolute dum dum pushing him way down draft boards.
Right now all we can do with any sort of certainty is talk about Packers needs...we need a TE, we need an edge guy, we need a swing tackle, we needs another offensive weapon for QB1 to throw to.
I do know this...most of the top TE in the league were not taken in R1. You can find Kittles and Kelces on Day 2 and 3.

Said this before, I will repeat it again. Andrew Brandt said the Packers FO with Ted had a long-standing mindset that the TE position never warranted a 1st round pick.
Other positions like pass rusher, CB, OT, S held much more value to them. Pretty sure they also felt the same way with WR as well. Gute is a disciple of Ted.
Never say never, but past behavior predicts future behavior.
You can find them there but you can also find HOF QB's on Day 2 and 3. They, just like TE's that start with K, are hard to find. Isn't there a TE Kincaid coming out? I don't care where they get him, they just need to improve the position.
Well...you can miss out on some really good players out of stubbornness, too, simply because of their positional value. We need weapons on offense, and the TE position has not been very productive in putting points on the board, gaining yardage, or making first downs.
TE is a weird position. For some reason the athletes in round 1 end up being just "solid" guys while players taken later end up being the best in the league. Probably depends on the offense and QB too.
Without knowing what the board looks like, I'd prefer an OL or WR in round 1 over a TE.
I prefer to take a player that makes the Packers better in R1, regardless of position.
Kincaid is the best receiving TE in the draft, Washington is the most physically imposing and probably the best blocker but only had a total of 4 catches in his last 4 games and "pre-combine" workouts have him running a 4.80 forty, which is not going to get him open in the NFL (curious to see what he runs at the combine). Mayer is the best all-around TE.

Well Iβve never seen someone take so many swings and misses the way Ted Thompson did with the CB/S positions and Gutekunst is following right in his footsteps, using 9 1st and 2nd round picks on the defensive backfield since 2014 and have Jaire to show for it is downright brutal
Ha Ha was good until he got paid more. Same with Savage.
Jury is still out on Stokes, but your point is well made.
Yep, hard to argue that. Then couple the poor choices with DC's not using them the right way as well. A double whammy.
All of you fantasizing about getting a TE should know that he will come in the 3rd round.
Here's a question for you...do you feel Lukas Van Ness is worth the #15 pick? I know this is pre-combine, pro days, etc. However, PFF has bumped him all the way up to #16 on their draft board. Look at the video footage and make an assessment...

What's @PackerHawk think?
That was Aaron's trade value two years ago to Denver.
Van Ness looks good for sure but is he a tweener?. He may be an Edge over DL in NFL.

Van Ness' assessment varies wildly from board to board. I've seen him all the way from top 15 to third round. Tough to say where he will be by draft time.
