I'm not enamored with Quentin Johnson. Yes, he had a great season, and he was big vs. Michigan and Kansas State. He disappeared in the championship, however. I'd say TE is a bigger need, and if given the choice between Johnson and Mayer, I would pick Mayer...he'll be a much bigger factor in the red zone, which is where this team has struggled.

Drafting a TE in the first round is risky business.

For Love?

Yes. If Rodgers plays 2-3 more seasons and assuming someone wants to make Love their starter next year.

Per Spotrac, his cap hit is $31.6 million this year, which is less than Mahomes, Allen, Watson, Prescott, Matt Ryan, Carr, Tannehill, and comparable with Jared Goff and Joey Bosa. Carr's and Ryan's hit will likely decrease after relocation, of course, and Joe Burrow is likely to enter the Mahomes and Allen tier at some point this year, as is Lamar Jackson.

That's not too bad, but escalates to over $40m next season and almost $60m in 2025. I suppose with a big enough rise in the cap they could ride through 2024 and he could retire after June 1st of 2025. He could exit with Bakhtiari, if he plays out his contract.

Even if they grab another QB in Round 1, three seconds is a lot to work with, though Gutekunst's track record leads me to think it's just as likely to end up as two first-rounders anyway. Seattle has 37 and 51, so a combo of two might get them in the 17-21 range, depending on which two. In theory, all three could get them to #9, but wouldn't increase their number of picks.

My friends at Fresno State telling be Haener has been balling out at the Senior Bowl. Used to think he was going to be a career backup, but watching Brock Purdy be successful, I think he's got a real shot with the right team.

Haener balling out at Senior Bowl...my guess is he will ascend to a round the Packers will have other needs in.

Happy for him, he was wrecked because of a garbage OL vs USC, was supposed to be out for the season, but battled back to take the team from 1-4 to finish 10-4.

Take him in the 3rd... he wouldn't be expected to play for a couple years, so by then the football gods will have forgotten he was a Gutey 3rd.
