Agree. Too many picks wouldn't even make the roster. Rodgers decline was clear last year, and even in his prime, with Davante and Jordy, he couldn't get the team past the NFCC.

Yet that's been their pattern with O-linemen.

They also have very little viable depth anywhere, which also shows on Special Teams. The bottom of the roster is not good. It showed last year there was no room for injuries as (D-line aside) one injured turned any position into a weak one.

Move on from Aaron, Aaron Jones that is. He's got some mileage on him now and is owed ~$20 million in 2023.

Draft Jahmyr Gibbs.

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Best skill set of any RB in this class, will truly fit into any scheme
  • Great pass catcher with a more advanced route tree than would be expected of a RB
  • Strength to complement a power-back rushing attack if need be
  • Electric speed allowing him to easily burn tacklers on corners
  • Has the vision and confidence to hit holes without second thought
  • Will only be twenty-one years old by the time he is drafted leaving ample time for his prime years
  • Possess fluidity as a runner, can stop on a dime or turn on the jets at will
  • Has been clocked at 22.3 MPH on one of his 70+ yard touchdowns
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Pass blocking leaves much to be desired
  • Has less weight than expected of a power back, if he is adopted into an offense that uses him as a bell-cow, he would need to add muscle to compete with NFL defensive lines.

If Rodgers doesn't come back, I see the FO doing a lot of things they might not have done otherwise. Jettisoning Jones is one of them. As good as he is, he does have some miles (not as many as he might have if he were used properly), but he seems to be nicked up to where he can't perform to his best, especially later in the year. While all players are nicked up at the end of the year, it seems to affect Jones to the point the coaches don't want to use him much.

If Rodgers comes back, I don't think they get rid of Jones. They will, no doubt, screw around and half-ass it to try to keep everyone Rodgers wants.

Assuming there's any truth to the report linked in MI Packer's post, that's approaching absurdity. $8M/year is about right for Lizard's market value, as I see it.
As much as I love him, I'd be willing to let him go if another team offers him $9M-$10M/year. Anything over that is just not realistic.

Jones is a generational talent, and the Packers need to find a way to keep him. Of course, it will require an extension to make the numbers work, but he'll be worth it.

Gary may/may not be ready by the start of next season. I think it's a fair bet that he won't be practicing during TC/pre-season, and it likely could be October before he returns to the lineup.
So I hope the Packers take a good look at Edge rushers for the draft. Doesn't necessarily have to be a first round pick, but it does need to be high enough to get someone good enough to contribute from the get-go.
Likewise, he may not need to be a starter, but rather someone who can get in the rotation ASAP.

Who we get depends on who stays and who goes. ARod, Jones, Bakh, Cobb, Crosby, Lewis, Tonyan, Lazard, Savage, Amos could all be gone due to cap hits, trades or whatever. I can see Bakh, Cobb and Lewis hanging it up, if ARod leaves, for whatever reason. Others will be gone because they are due a big payday and they probably won't get it in GB and not with the big deal ARod got hanging over us.  Just with the guys listed, we have needs for TE, WR, OT, S and a K. Everyone says we need an Edge Rusher, as well, and the best ones may be off the board before the Packers second round pick, unless GB makes a trade, to move up the board, to get someone. The same can be said for OTs.  Will our young O Linemen improve? Will we get to see why we drafted Sean Rhyan, this camp? Or Caleb Jones? Rasheed Walker? Will we see an extension for Nixon? Ford? As I've said, the FO has some work to do and then, they may have some splainin' to do.

The FO for GB and for every team always has splainin' to do when this time of year rolls around, despite whatever they do or don't do. In GB, there are a lot of moving pieces with no money to work with and the uncertainty of Rodgers' decision hanging over everyone's head. This may be the FO's best moment or the worst, depending on how everything shakes out. It's probably the most uncertainty and biggest shakeup the team has had in more than 30 years.

But one thing is certain: some of us will complain and others will celebrate.

I'm not sure if I should complain or celebrate...

Not as fast as Sproles but brings a skill set the Packers can utilize...he won't blaze in the 40...but he is a low to mid-4.4 guy...but his ability to squeeze through tackles is closer to Barry Sanders than Sproles. He has tremendous hands also which is invaluable. What will hurt him with Gurt is his inability to pass pro at the NFL level...which is a problem if you look at him as an every down RB, but if you look at him as a gadget guy like Tyler Ervin he's aces.

Yeah, he eats up a roster spot if he can only be used on gadgets...but the Packers have played many a game with only 33 and 28 getting carries.

My guess is he ends up in KC, NE or SF.

Other teams with QB cap numbers larger than Rodgers’ are still gettin deals done, but yeah, how the first run of cuts and free agency shake out will determine quite a bit.

We fans know so little about the cap. The press don’t either. We need to shut up about it.

I recommend we all purchase the book, Crunching the Numbers, from Amazon. Then on, let's say, March 15th, we come back to the topic and all have an informed conversation about the Packers cap. We can send our meeting notes to Russ afterwards.

Tank Dell, because everyone should have a tank. And if not for the name, then for the hair.

"Arguably the winner of Senior Bowl week, Dell was uncoverable throughout all phases. His ability to separate off the line of scrimmage was evident in one-on-ones. While size will continue to be a knock against him—understandably—the ceiling in the NFL is overwhelmingly evident."
