Edge guy.

"

Adetomiwa Adebawore

EDGE, Northwestern

I saw him push Notre Dame’s Jarrett Patterson 10 yards into the goal post in one-on-ones, and if there were any questions on his ability to overpower interior guys, all he did was answer them at the Senior Bowl. I expected him to rise, and any NFL club in search of an interior mover that can play all three downs should have him high on their board. He was fantastic."

Nikko will be a good player for someone...won't be the Packers. Listed there at 5'11...that is generous. Probably closer to 5'10"...wouldn't surprise me to see him measure at 5'9.5" at the combine. Won't fit the Packers size requirements.

Packers swung and missed badly on Amari...but I feel like size wasn't his problem, it was first off he never fully recovered from his ACL and came in fat, and then just lacked confidence and the ability to track the ball.

Size doesn't make you muff punts or fumble balls.

Myles Murphy.

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Murphy can also win going speed-to-power, with the leg drive to push blockers back.
  • A savvy, versatile and instinctive edge rusher who did a little bit of everything, Murphy was especially effective getting to the quarterback.
  • He has a lethal spin move and the pure speed to close quickly.
  • Impressive athletic skills -- Made Bruce Feldman's 'Freaks List' at number 3. He wrote: "The 6-5, 275-pound junior is viewed by NFL scouts as a β€œsignificantly better player” than former Tiger Clelin Ferrell, who went fourth overall in the 2019 draft. Murphy bench-presses 405 pounds, power-cleans 335, and deadlifts 505. He also has vertical-jumped 35 inches, broad-jumped 10 feet and consistently clocked in the high 4.5s in the 40"
  • Murphy has long arms and displays good power in his hands, which gives him the ability to slip off blocks. As a run defender, he has the speed to chase down ball carriers in pursuit.
  • His spin move is already NFL-caliber, and he displays a very good motor.
  • His hand use is excellent; he’s strong in the upper body and consistently swats away blockers.
  • Possesses the length and power to ward off offensive tackles.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Plays tall and gets upright off the snap. Wins with upper-body strength and needs to focus on leverage.
  • Murphy struggles to shed blockers and doesn’t show ideal lateral movement skills. He also needs to make better use of his length and hands in the pass rush.
  • He remains a bit raw, as Murphy is inconsistent with his hand use and lacks violence in his hands
  • Tightness in the hips when needing to corner or redirect with speed at steeper angles
  • Difficult to gear down and redirect with a lot of mass
  • Doesn't showcase as much explosion when attack is slowed

I've seen Jalin Hyatt projected as low as the 4th round...SMH. With a great combine, he may end up being first WR off the board. Kid is an absolute stud.

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Has elite speed - can eat up cornerbacks cushion in an instant and can beat even the quickest DBs
  • Hyatt recorded a 10.46 in the 100m and 21.14 in the 200m. He has run an electronically timed 4.31 40-yard dash and added 34.5β€³ vertical. He's probably even faster now
  • In 2022 he has shown he can totally dominate even the top secondaries in college football - he's pretty much impossible to stop unless double-covered
  • His long arms allow him to play bigger than his size and also displays an impressive catch radius -Hyatt has the frame to can carry even more weight.
  • Hyatt tracks the ball well downfield and consistently runs under long throws.
  • He is amazing as a catch-and-run threat, running hard and consistently picking up big yardage after the catch.
  • He shows elite initial quickness off the line of scrimmage, and he has enough strength to be able to consistently escape the jam at the next level.
  • A savvy, natural pass-catcher with reliable hands and very good focus. Snatches the ball out of the air and shows the concentration to make acrobatic catches look easy.
  • He’s a precise route runner, creating separation when used on quick outs and stop patterns in college. Hyatt has good stop-start ability and lateral agility.
  • Is an excellent blocker considering his relatively slight frame
  • It can't be ignored that he led the country in QB rating when targetted in 2022
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • His tape is limited and has had only one season (2022) putting up elite numbers. Prior to then, his performances were pretty none descript.
  • He’ll have to develop a better feel for sitting down against zone coverage.
  • His route tree has been pretty limited - will take some serious time to adjust to pro offense
  • Has played most of his snaps from the slot and therefore rarely has been challenged in press coverage
  • May struggle to convert his skills to the pro game where he has just been told to win footraces on deep patterns

That is a helluva draft but 13 new guys would be like 1/4 of the roster if they all stuck.  They'd probably bundle some later rounds to move up somewhere.

It's not as if that's stopped him before, though. He's drafted more CHUD offensive linemen lately than could be kept between the roster and practice squad. The depth is pretty poor at most positions and a single injury to a starter outside of maybe D-Line can derail the team.

Yeah, it's one of those things that will sort itself out after the combine, I think. He doesn't have elite size, nor is he as smooth as Olave was, but otherwise he's got a heck of a skillset and showed out with some decent QB play.

Of course it's all theoretical, but it would be interesting to see what the Packers do if they get either the Raider's or Jet's first round pick.

My guess with a pick that high is likely a pass rusher (since Gary is on the shelf for a bit) or OT that can step right in and play a la Bulaga. Possibly an impact safety.

Texas Tech edge Tyree Wilson, Ohio State OT Paris Johnson, Northwestern OT Pete Skoronski, Clemson Edge Myles Murphy or Bama S Brian Branch are names to look for at #7 (Raiders).

Texas Tech edge Tyree Wilson, ...

I have to admit, I don't see the Tyree Wilson as a top pick OLB hype. He's big (listed 6'6" 276#) and he's strong, but I don't see an elite burst or bend in him, even in highlights. Maybe it's an illusion due to his size, but I don't think so. He never seems to get lower than his blocker. He could just bully most college linemen, but pro blockers will be stronger and have better technique.

Lukas Van Ness (listed 6'5" 275#) appears to be similar guy, not quite as strong, but a better get off.

I prefer Isaiah Foskey to both of them. He gives up a good ten pounds, but he's still listed at 6'5" 265#, still has very good power and has a better burst than either of them.

First Round is going to be interesting; my "guess" would be one of the following ;

1. One of the edge rushers talked about above ; Wilson , Van Ness, or Foskey  (Anderson / Murphy should be gone by 15).

2. Safety Branch from Alabama.

3. If Bak comes back, and Tom looking like tackle may be his best position, I don't know if taking an OT with this pick is best

4. If rated fairly evenly, and Gut thinks he can get one of them later in the round, I could see him  trade back into later in round to get higher in second round to guarantee he could get the TE he wants?

....of course this means that Gut will actually trade up in the First Round to get an OT.

@Pakrz posted:

I think he's going to Vegas and the #7 pick is in play.

**But agree that Bak may get moved as well if 12 is traded.

I think all of Rodgers' buddies will probably be gone, if Rodgers leaves, for whatever reason. Cobb, Bakh, Lewis, Tonyan and maybe even Jones, could exit GB. Now that the SB is over, and the next big thing is the Draft, we should see who stays and who leaves the Packers roster. Everyone says we need an Edge Rusher and a TE, this draft. I agree, but those ideas may change, if we need to restock our O Line, again, due to holes all over it. Myers should be forced to compete for his job at C. Sean Rhyan should be forced to compete for anything. Same goes for our rookies, in Caleb Jones and Rasheed Walker, who did not, or barely saw, the field last season. Hoping that Gute brings some magic to the off season, as we will need it.

In the 1981 draft, we took Rich Campbell overt Ronnie Lott....

In the 1979 draft, we took two running backs in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Eddie Lee Ivery was a good pick, but his career was cut short due to injuries. Steve Atkins was the second running back taken ( a shotgun draft at RB?). Atkins never really did anything as a pro.

Joe Montana went at the end of the 3rd round.
