Here's a tough one: Christian Gonzalez is easily the "best available player" the way this one worked out with all three OTs going early (Richardson was still on the board). They've hinted at Rasul possibly playing some safety, so if Stokes is healthy a backfield of Alexander, Gonzalez, Douglas, Savage and Stokes seems pretty solid, but it's another premium pick on a DB. Tyreque Jones is projected to move to safety by many, as well, and should be a good special teamer. Spears is dynamite, though not the biggest fellow, and could get a shot as a returner if Nixon isn't brought back.

Kicker, punter and long snapper aside, is there a position you're dead-set against taking in the first?

I have to admit, RB would be a tough pill to swallow but I guess I could be down with Robinson or Gibbs. Dillon is in a contract year and Jones perpetually is with  void years so I suppose there are worse things they could do.

A DB whether it be a corner or safety, I’m just sick of using premium picks on that position and have gotten very little out of it. Please try something different

I get it. Since TT took over they’ve spent 13 early picks on DBs and gotten good ROI on three: Collins, Burnett and Alexander. That’s a tough pill to swallow.

He had a pretty good week at the Senior Bowl, as well, and is a good tackle overall. He's not as good as Jones but plays with a solid base. He's probably better suited to the right side but has experience at both, and could be had later, allowing a different position in the first. He seems like one of those ten-year starters that gets the job done and has a high floor, unlike many of the linemen the Packers have taken of late.

I'd put Matthew Bergeron from Syracuse in the same category.

Thanks for the break down, thought you'd have one.

I think of the remaining positions, TE is the one I'd pass on, in the current 1st round. Depending on what compensation the Packers get for Rodgers(maybe the 13th pick), I'd go BPA with that 1st pick. Robinson would be a BPA pick. Gonzalez or Witherspoon would be fine picks. A solid Edge guy, like Tyree Wilson or Derrick Hall would also be good. DL depth must be addressed, as well, but not necessarily in the first round. I'd go TE in the second round.

So, now that Tonyan is a Bear, does this change GB's draft plans regarding TE? Our TE room is dang near empty, now that Tonyan left. Maybe they do go after a TE in round 1, now, where they wouldn't have, if Tonyan had stayed in GB.

i kind of like the idea of the running back from Texas. Packers are not going to the Super Bowl this year and will probably move on from Aaron Jones after this year. That kid looks good. Barry Sanders Good. Take him at 13 with the Jets pick, take the Best TE at 15, then take the WR from Tennessee with the 2nd round pick. ARs head will explode with all those pics on offense.

I would hope they'd not spend a pick on Ibrahim, but whichever. Kind of funny to draft a rookie QB who's a year older than Jordan Love.  It would be a bit like Pederson and Favre but hopefully without the general scumbaggery implications.

I still think there's a good chance they trade any picks gotten for Rodgers, at least this year. It's likely better for everyone in Green Bay, or at least TT was inclined to think.

Drafting RB high in this offense is dumb. If you’re OL is doing it’s job, you can turn Raheem Mostert into a star.

Also I’ve given up Jets will trade 13 for 12â€Ķright now they are looking to swap 13 with someone else in the 20’s, get an extra 3rd rounder and then trade us that 1st in the 20’s. That may not happen till draft day.

AJ did not light it up last year. And with the cap number of Aaron Jones, unless he gives up more salary next year I can see the Packers moving on from him. The kid from Texas is supposedly the best player in the draft and could take a ton of heat off of Jordan Love. Plus the  kid has the receiving skills of a great WR. Take him at 13 and we are good there for the next 6 years.

Dillon did not have a good year. Not sure if he had injuries or what but he definitely looked off. I just don't understand not signing Tonyan when the TE room is complete garbage and we have a couple of very young receivers and nothing else. We need at least 2 TE's and probably 3 WR's in addition to a safety, edge, OL, backup ILB and 2 new Dlinemen for depth. Not to mention a backup QB. Too many holes to fill but maybe getting the cap straightened is priority one this year. JL is still going to need a couple of weapons though.

What current top 10 offense has an elite RB that helps win games?  CMC is the only one I can think of.  Maybe Ekeler in LAR and Sanders in PHI?  Only CMC was taken in RD1.  It's a tough call because everybody gets in a lather when they see a RB bust big plays but the position is really undervalued right now and you typically see only 1 or 2 go in RD1 over the last 10 years.  But I agree, a productive RB can take a lot of heat off a young QB.

Both Jones(effectively )and Dillon are free agents next year.

Running backs are plug and play football players.  GB can worry about next year... next year.  There are way too many holes on the roster to fill right now other than that position.

Then the year after that GB might be in the market for a QB in R1.

I agree Dillon did not have a good year but that could be a combo of injuries and the OL was in flux a good chunk of the year.  One thing that will help JL is having the OL good to go from the start and having the RBs healthy.

I agree with the fact that the roster has a bunch of holes in it right now but I don't get too excited about that in March I think they will get those holes addressed somehow.  As for this year I also think that this could be a year that their main priority is to get the salary cap on track and if they win a bunch of games its a nice bonus.

There is zero chance that I would draft a RB high in any draft, in particular one where you have Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon still on the roster.

Even a runner with Bijan Robinson's abilities? I know we have Jones and Dillon as starters and even Patrick Taylor and Goodson on the bench, but wouldn't Bijan be one of, if not the BPA, at #13 or at #15?   GB does need TE, Edge, Safety, WR, and maybe CB, again--especially if they move Rasul to Safety. Our needs can be met, but if we get the Jets #13, a BPA pick could be in play. Kind of a luxury pick for GB. Unless Gute sees another player as being more of a value than Bijan, at #13. Witherspoon, maybe? Gonzalez? Tyree Wilson? Skoronski?
