@BillyM_91: UGA TE Darnell Washington is visiting the Packers [today]
Could be a lot more shuffling before Gute picks. We don't know if we'll have #13 or if we'll even be at #15 after all is said and done. I don't know much about Bijan other than that he's RB1 for the draft. I've also heard the cream of the crop in this draft dries up after about #10. If one of the elite prospects drops because 4QBs are taken in the top 10, it would be hard to pass him up regardless of his position.
I wouldn't rule out a RB in the first three rounds this year if they really like someone. They took Dillon in the 2nd with Jones and Williams on the roster. But I'd prefer they wait until day 3 for a RB.
Thereβs an article out there that says GB drafts a high percentage of dudes they have come in for pre-draft visits under the Gute regimeβ¦
You must be new here. Fart will chock.
One guy who intrigues me as a potential Packers pick is Cedric Tillman from Tennessee. Pros: heβs big and a can be a monster blocker. Where heβs different: has solid hands but not as explosive. I think he can be a good βdirty workβ receiver and get downfield some as he has that long stride.
Doubtful π
βAs part of the pre-draft process, NFL teams are allotted 30 official visits where they bring potential draft prospects into their facilities. When Thompson was in charge, there wasnβt much that could be gleaned from these visits. However, that hasnβt been the case with Gutekunst.
None of the Packersβ pre-draft visits in 2021 ended up on the team, but in 2020 there were two. In 2019, three, and in 2018, six.
Then, in 2022, six of Green Bayβs top 30 visits ended up being draft picks. This included Romeo Doubs, Rasheed Walker, Christian Watson, Devonte Wyatt, Samori Toure and Tariq Carpenter.β
So, according to the pattern, it's three this year?
Dang - That visit - draft pattern is tough to cipher on.
Because even if the player visits AND GB wants to draft them - they might get snatched earlier by another GM simply because that GM saw the player visit GB.
Need a few more gozintas.
Draft offense, offense, then more offense. Even if the Packers had the players from the great Pittsburgh Steel Curtain defense, I would not trust Joe Barry to put it together effectively or for the players to know what they should be doing. So draft offense and hope the Packers outscore them.
That one from SI isn't bad. I am a bit concerned with Bresee's knee. I think he's a risky pick at 15. Here's one I did today:

Was hoping for an OT to slide to 48, but no such luck so took Bergeron at 75. It was him or Blake Freeland then I felt the talent drops off. Tanner McKee and JL Skinner went just before, also.
That also cause me to miss some guys I was looking at. Tucker Kraft, Sydney Brown, Jordan Battle, Chris Smith, Kyu Blue Kelly and YaYa Diaby all went before 121.
At 121 and 125 I was hoping for Tyjai Spears and Zack Kuntz, but the sim nabbed Kuntz for KC at 122. I really like Spears and Jones and Dillon are both potentially free agents after this season so I wanted to take a back with a starting skill set. Plus, I was getting nervous about the defensive backfield. Brown looked good at Penn State but that 4.65 at the combine with no 3-cone or shuttle was scary as far as baseline speed. He did improve to 4.57 at Penn State's prod day today. Still not great, but obviously better.
Some people live in a fantasy world.
βThat is not true!β

Not sure Beef would hit that.
I did this one on PFF, with no trades: 1) Quentin Johnston, WR ;2) Luke Musgrave, TE; 3) Michael Wilson, WR; 4) KJ Henry, Edge; 5) Viliami Fehoko, Edge; 5) Stetson Bennett, QB; 7) Mohammed Ibrahim, RB; 7) Brenton Strange, TE; 7) Hunter Luepke, HB. I got an "A" grade on this one.
Bennett is interesting. He's a year older than Jordan Love, he's under 6 feet tall, yet he's kind of got that Russell Wilson thing going, though with less mobility.

This is how the fine folks at Draftek view the Packers needs heading into the draft
Color coded chart and everything. Seems decent, I'd swap out the 3T and 5T levels of need but the rest looks good
Iβd like to see an olineman earlier, but I always want to see a fat boy picked early.
Hate the idea of a first round te
My gut feeling has been Broderick Jones at #15, with Johnson (pure LT) and Skoronski (more versatile) going earlier. Building that "San Fran" offensive line would seem like something LaFLeur would be lobbying for. Darnell Wright's the other guy I think they'd like if they're looking for more straight up right side guy.
With Jones, Jenkins and and Tom it would seem they'd have options for a post Bakhtiari line, as well.
My wish list is Isaiah Foskey, Darnell Washington and Tyjai Spears in the draft.

(Although why you'd want to eat anything at Sbarro is beyond me.)
Unless a "wow" type player falls in the draft, wouldn't shock me if the Packers trade back (assuming there's a partner) in the first round. I see this as even more likely if GB gets a couple of the Jets picks.
Looking at mocks and player rankings, there's seems to be a boatload of players that seem to grade out the same in the teens (and further down the draft). Would love to see Gute get a deal like he did with NO a few years ago: swap picks in the first and add another first next year.
Packers are in the market for another QB. Is Hooker from Tennessee an option in the 2nd round if he is there.
It needs to be said:
Hookers from Tennessee are always an option.

They are playing rugby in Tennessee these days?
Short of someone else drafting him first, is there any chance Van Ness gets by the Packers first pick. The dude is Taylor made for a Packers' edge rusher. He's so big and fast, and the Packers are willing to wait for guys with his tool set to develop.
If they pass I promise to VaTJ Watt all over the board for years Ad nauseam
He actually has some VaTJ qualities.
LaPorta would be a nice R2 pick. Nor Bubba Franks Washington. The cheerleaders want.
βHe may not be 6-5,β Ferentz said of the 6-foot-3 tight end. βBut he's a heck of a football player, outstanding tight end, outstanding player. Unbelievable temperament. Just loves to compete.β
The Highland, Ill., native was one of three finalists in 2022 for the John Mackey Award, which goes to the top tight end in college football. His 58 receptions last season, despite tearing his meniscus in November, outpaced Iowaβs top two wide receivers combined.
LaPortaβs participation in the Music City Bowl, especially after suffering an injury in November, made a lasting impression on Ferentz.
βTalk about an anti-2022 college football player,β Ferentz said. βHe never even thought about not playing. We werenβt sure he should. We were like, βAre you sure you donβt want to think about this?β Thatβs just how heβs wired. β¦ That will continue to serve him well.β
So much bigger and more athletic than TJ Watt, but he is not as advanced. So young though. Heβ ll come along.

And since Iowa never has a good QB who knows how good LaPorta could be.
