Because it happens all the time? Not every player can handle it, but players with elite mental and physical tools can handle it. Skoronski is not doubt bound for the top 10, maybe top 5, my point was just that if legit OT options are available I donβt think GB would pass simply due to the existence of Tom or Nijman or any other player on our roster. BPA
Edge rushers who don't look like they are wearing concrete galoshes half the time and offensive lineman who don't forget how to block a week after being dominant in a game would be my preference.
@Chongo posted:Not everyone can, but Skoronski has shown the flexibility in his college career.
I just see college football and the NFL as 2 different worlds. The Packers seem to think anyone can play anywhere even if a player says they don't want to.
Not only is Skoronski a solid OT from NW, he is a GB Packer legacy, if you did not realize it:
So he is already destined for the HOF before even playing in the NFL
like adderly's grandson/nephew
I'm waiting on combine results before I place a lot of these players, Skoronski being one of them.
The results of the long jump or cone drill?
@GBFanForLife posted:Why do people think Offensive lineman can just flip from right to left or left to right?
All they need to do to learn the technique is look in a mirror.

For some people looking in the mirror is a good thing.

For a Tackle? How about strength and agility, and the length of his arms?
@mrtundra posted:I did a mock, already, on FanSpeak and Quentin Johnston,WR of TCU, went #2, overall to the Texans. He'd look good in Green and Gold, wouldn't he? Lots of OTs were off the board by GB's pick at 15. I think the Packers pass on an OT, in the 1st round, especially if Paris Johnson, of Ohio State, is already gone, though, because of Zach Tom, Rasheed Walker, Caleb Jones and even, dare I say it, Royce Newman on the bench. The guy I got at 15 was TE Michael Mayer, of Notre Dame. This pick was based on need as I feel Marcedes Lewis will hang it up and that Lazard, our best blocking WR, wants out of GB, and also for BPA. Mayer was off the board by the time our 2nd Round pick came around. An interesting note was that, with the last GB pick, in the 7th round, I was able to select Stetson Bennett IV, QB from Georgia. He might be a good back up for Love, if Love starts, next season. Admittedly, I know little about most of the college players in the draft, but I followed the top boards I found, for each position. I like Drew Sanders as an Edge guy, too. He may be available at #15.
Everybody's mock has Mayer going to Green Bay and they have for some time. If he isn't close to BPA I would pass.
Maybe Gute can finally hit on a third-round pick? Or just trade the hell out of the third.
He (Mayer) has two solid years of production at TE, plus his freshman season wasn't bad, either, and that's against a lot of good football teams. He's the clear #1 TE in the draft, with prototypical size, good hands and route running, and a plus blocker. That's' round 1 material, if you ask me. Again, his combine and pro day will help determine where he goes, but I'm fairly certain he goes top 20...maybe 25. In some mocks he goes #11 to Tennessee...
I think it's R1 material for most teams...not necessarily for the Packers. DB, Edge, OT would be what I assume Gurt will go after. He broke form last year taking ILB and DT in R1.
I think 2023 he goes back to form.
S Brian Branch from Alabama
OT Paris Johnson from Ohio St
DB Joey Porter, Jr. from Penn St
DE Derek Hall from Auburn
Some early names to consider at that spot.
Guaranteed there are going to be some fast risers after the senior bowl type games are played. Always are.

As 1940s actress Maria Montez said, "Every morning I see myself in the mirror and scream with joy, I am so beautiful!"
If she wanders into Kielβs neighborhood she better be on the business end of a mop.
I think that each time someone makes a post about:
A - Who they think the Packers will take, or;
B - Who they think the Packers should take;
Their reply should have a running tally, just like mock drafts. Think when people get to βI think the Packers should draft ___________7.0β before March, we might realize trying to predict this before the combine is pointless.
A couple of edge guys who may be had for a decent "price":
Nolan Smith is interesting to me. He's pretty dynamic and part of that Georgia defense Gutekunst obviously likes, but like Nick Bonito and Myjai Sanders last year, he comes in smaller than you'd like on the edge, listed at 6'3" 235#.
Andre Carter from Army is also intriguing at 6'7" 260#. He's a Gary-like freak athlete, but will be 23 before training camp. He'd also likely need a service deferment, but I don't know that's a big issue.
Our fine government recently put into legislation they can no longer get deferment
Only issue with Smith and Carter (aside from the deferment) is that they are older than GB has tended to draft under Gute. I don't know if that is a hard and fast rule, but its happened enough that it makes me think they only want underclassmen with high ceilings in R1. After that they've drafted all of the place in terms of age and H/W/S.
Have to believe they look at an interior OL in R2 unless they believe Rhyan will actually be a viable option (not optimistic). Meyers especially is going to be in for competition, possibly from a rookie.

Devonte Wyatt was 24 years old when they drafted him with their top pick last year. It was one of the reasons that many people were worried about him being a bust when he wasn't able to get on the field right away. He was already physically mature relative to younger draft picks that are likely to get more physically strong as they mature from 20 or 21 year olds.
Yeah Wyatt is the outlier. I think they just really wanted him or wanted a R1 DT. Jaire, Gary, Love, Savage, Quay all fit the profile.
Wyatt came on strong later in the season once DL went to the DL.
If he commits to the off-season regiment like Rashan Gary did between Rookie season and year 2, we could see a real force emerge.
Looks like they drafted a new bill that would grandfather current Military athletes
Want to see a TE worth taking at #15 overall?
IKD where they get these combine stats from but if Washington doesn't run under a 4.7 there is no way he is worth any First Round pick. In his last 4 college games he had a total of 4 catches.

So he fits the Packers mold of TE.
The Jets say goodbye to their OC, a guy named LaFleur.
First Mock
I will say this about Haener...he has all the intangibles you could want in a QB, and he will be a solid backup for someone. Smart, will be like an extra coach. I would wager he will have a very good Wonderlic score.
But his hands are small...playing for a team where it's cold will be an issue.
it didn't affect Brady

Matt wanted him when he was the 'Niner's QB coach, wasn't it? Or was he the OC?

That's good. It puts him back on the draft board.

No kidding...his RD 3 has been horrendous.

That looks how I felt after the Detroit game...
- 22. Michael Mayer TE Notre Dame (trade down)
- 54. John Michael Schmitz OC Minnesota (trade down)
- 55. Nolan Smith EDGE Georgia (trade)
- 78. Xavier Hutchinson WR Iowa State
- 87. Keeanu Benton DT Wisconsin (trade)
- 113. Ronnie Hickman S Ohio State
- 201. Sydney Brown S Illinois
- 210. Viliami Fehoko EDGE San Jose State
- 216. Braeden Daniels OT Utah

Watson was too, as he'll be 24 just after the draft. Both guys likely would have to be at a "discount" position because of age, though.
