I think Tschmack and Herschel both made excellent posts.
Compelling, valid points, stated clearly, and a great example of a classic pro and con debate.

I don't know enough about most college player to have a valid opinion, so I didn't 'like' either one, yet I liked them both.

Besides, when have the Packers ever taken an interior OL in round 1?

The Packers take O-Line that's versatile. They've been doing that with consistency over most of the positions. Jenkins, Zach Tom, etc.

Versatility from X now that they have a real Safety. Moving Jaire around.

The versatility is what helps keep opposing OC's and DC's off balance. Well ...that's the plan/hope anyway. 😃👍🏼

Maurice Jones-Drew only mock has the Packers taking T'Vondre Sweat at 25.

"NFC defenses must find a way to stop the 49ers’ elite rushing attack. Sweat, one of my favorite players in the draft, has the ability to help the up-and-coming Pack up front as an enormous space eater with game-changing ability against the run."

R J Young of FOX Sports has Blake Corum as his #2 steal of the draft and Braelon Allen as his #1 steal.  Packers would be good with either of them in round 3.

I'd be concerned about the mileage on Corum. They ran him all the time in Michigan. Braelon Allen gives me strange vibes, like DeJean does. I like Jaylen Wright or Trey Benson in the 3rd Round. Others to look at in the 3rd and later rounds are Marshawn Lloyd, Isaac Guerrendo, Isaiah Davis, Dylan Laube, Rasheen Ali and Tyrone Tracy. Any of these may pair well with Dillon or Jacobs.

If the Packers want more versatility on the OL, the guy they want is Graham Barton and he will be off the board, before the Packers' 2nd round pick. So, if he is there at 25, they will draft him. Gute may move up a bit, to get him, too. Joe Alt may be a target to move up after, as well, but I do not see Gute going that far up (top ten) to get him.

The wild card could be Marshawn Kneeland. He's the only top edge rusher who meets both the athletic thresholds and the size thresholds Gutekunst has heavily favored, and he's likely a guy Detroit is also looking at so a trade back might not be viable.

Otherwise they'll likely have to wait for a Xavier Thomas, Cedric Johnson or a Myles Cole later to meet both.

IMO, Kool-Aid is not versatile enough to justify him at 25...he is athletic as hell, but a boundary corner only...that is all he will ever be. Now if the Packers can trade down into the 2nd and grab him, I can get behind that...or better if he's at 41.

This is the more versatile corner we should be targeting...you sacrifice some athleticism, however, you get a much more versatile guy. His toolbox is fuller than Kool-Aids...although he's probably hard pressed to be a boundary corner...he can play field corner, slot corner, possibly also the star (hybrid safety).

I won't be surprised if they take him in round 3 or 4. Where ever the other 31 have him slotted.

I say this every year.....

It doesn't matter how good or bad a player is, the only thing that matters is where the other 31 have him slotted.

If the other 31 teams have Marvin Harrison Jr. off their boards...why would you take him in the 1st round? When you can get him in round 7?!?

Brock Purdy....Nobody drafted him, until the Niners had the last pick and they knew the entire time when they were going to select Purdy because they knew NOBODY was drafting him. Smart!

Really hope WE don’t play that game. You can never have enough boundary corners. You can get decent nickel corners later in any draft.

Gutey is going to call me once I have my final CONSENSUS BORED done.

What if it's to take someone like Cooper D, who may not be there at 25? If they think he's the guy to solidify the secondary?

Not sure I like Cooper Dejean in this defense. I wouldn’t draft him at 25. There is no one in this draft past the top 12 I like enough to give up a second rounder for.

I'm waiting to see how he tests out next Monday. I get it...some think he's more of a zone player than a cover guy. There's no denying his athletic ability.

He is plenty fast, and if he runs slow I will just blame it on his injuries.

I just don't see very much evidence that he has the hips of an NFL corner and I am not sure he is a good enough tackler to be a box safety.

It might be interesting to see how he does in the agility drills. If he is really fast in those I might change my mind.

I have two late-round/UDFA's for strong/box safety/special teams:

Dominique Hampton of Washington

Trade up scenario....WAYYY up.....and take.....

Joe Alt.

You approve or no?

Here's an interesting article I found on YardBarker...doesn't reveal a whole lot, but it could be an indicator we're moving up to take someone...

There will be many smokescreens between now and April 25.  Gutey has been very secretive and close to the vest in years past. Even brought in several guys for visits to derail other teams and then drafted someone who they didn’t interview.

I would say trading up is certainly an option. Whether it comes to fruition or not will depend on a lot of things...

Alt would be intriguing...he's a top-10 pick. That's a lot to give up...

If Gutey drafts Dejean I'll say he knows what he is doing. If he doesn't draft Dejean I'll say he knows what he is doing.

He knows a hell of a lot more than me. Some say he even knows more than Herschel and Iowa Cheese. Blows my mind how much he knows.

DeJean is a solid football player.  As excited as I am they added McKinney their biggest issue on defense was their DB group overall was terrible at tackling.  That won’t be a problem with DeJean.

Nixon made some plays last year but he looked OK compared to the rest of the DBs they matched our there.  With a better group around him he shouldn’t be playing.

If Alt gets to 10, that scenerio could play out

He's probably not getting past 7 to the Titans. That's my guess.

Depends if the Giants want picks or not. We'll see

I'd be shocked if Wright make it to round 3. I can see a team nabbing him in round 1.
