β€œIt’s a lot of routes I never ran before, different concepts, just a whole new feel. It’s probably the most complex offense I’ve been a part of.”

β€” Davante Adams, to the Raiders’ YouTube page, on getting used to coach Josh McDaniels’ offense after years in Green Bay.

interesting comment. Does it mean he will catch more or less balls in Vegas?

Davante will be just fine for the Raiders. It was a great fit for both sides. But there is no chance he will be anywhere near as productive with Vegas as he was in GB.

-He had a couple of years of chemistry with with Carr at Fresno State. But he’s had the last 8 seasons refining the chemistry with arguably the greatest football thrower of all time.

-He’s learning a new, complex offense over the course of a couple of months. He’s been part of creating the offense over the past several years.

-To a lesser degree, he’ll be facing newer opponents. And by this I mean, he’ll be playing less games against familiar opponents. In GB, he played against a familiar Viking, Bear and Lion defense/defensive players.

DA will be fine for Las Vegas. And I’m happy for him to play where he wanted to go. But he’ll never replicate what he had with AR in Green Bay

Davante's success will depend on how much McDaniels has grown since his time in Denver.  He is hated in Denver by just about everyone, ex-players included.  And they'll talk about it on the record.  He was a total wreck in his first stint as a head coach, including overcomplicating the offense.  If a guy like Davante is saying the offense is too complex, I don't think that's a good thing.  Davante will make it work but what about the other 10 guys on offense?

D. Adams handled the whole situation with a high level of professionalism. I hope he does well in Las Vegas. The Packers got him for the prime of his career, he will be inducted into the Packer HOF someday, and he played through injuries at various times during his career without complaining. Then, after all that, the Packers got 1st and 2nd rounds picks for him and the Raiders got to pay him the big money for his declining years. He's likely to be great for another 2-3 years max and then the Raiders will take the cap hit in 2025 to move on or renegotiate.

He really only got a 3 year, 67 million dollar deal. In 2025, he has a 40 million dollar cap hit and only counts 7 million of dead cap. It's highly likely the Packers exceeded the "real" money being offered.

I think this is one of those cases, where everyone got what they wanted. Packers got great compensation, the Raiders get a star player for 3 years, and Davante gets to finish his career in the team he grew up cheering for.

Holy shit. Well, that's it for Carr.

Sure sounds like it. Get this:

@VicTafur:  If the Raiders sit Derek Carr Sunday, it will be the 4th game he misses in 9 seasons and the 1st not due to injury.
His salary of $33 million next year and $7.5 million in 2024 become guaranteed if he gets hurt, and front office met last 2 nights to decide on course of action.

Part of the reason Davante Adams wanted the trade was for long-term stability at QB. Safe to say Derek Carr is done in Vegas. Aaron Rodgers might still be the Packers QB for 1-3 more years. Tough situation for Adams, no matter how you feel about him wanting out of GB.

Yeah, all he got out of it was being closer to his grand parents and ton of $$$.

He could have had the $$$ and team success in GB. Hope paw paw and mee maw appreciate it.
