John FooteDick Dale & Gail Farrell's outstanding cover of this "modern spiritual" on the Lawrence Welk Show. 555 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRa_gC6y4CY
Holy shit, forget plaid, you've gone Fedya!
Man, how did they ever get Lawrence Welk's approval to do that song??!!
Larry got played...
Not this time. Straight forward HA!
long but worth watching
βItβs a lot of routes I never ran before, different concepts, just a whole new feel. Itβs probably the most complex offense Iβve been a part of.β
β Davante Adams, to the Raidersβ YouTube page, on getting used to coach Josh McDanielsβ offense after years in Green Bay.
interesting comment. Does it mean he will catch more or less balls in Vegas?
To be fair, at times the Packer offense seemed to be "Force ball to Davante". Not very complex, that.
Davante will be just fine for the Raiders. It was a great fit for both sides. But there is no chance he will be anywhere near as productive with Vegas as he was in GB.
-He had a couple of years of chemistry with with Carr at Fresno State. But heβs had the last 8 seasons refining the chemistry with arguably the greatest football thrower of all time.
-Heβs learning a new, complex offense over the course of a couple of months. Heβs been part of creating the offense over the past several years.
-To a lesser degree, heβll be facing newer opponents. And by this I mean, heβll be playing less games against familiar opponents. In GB, he played against a familiar Viking, Bear and Lion defense/defensive players.
DA will be fine for Las Vegas. And Iβm happy for him to play where he wanted to go. But heβll never replicate what he had with AR in Green Bay
Davante's success will depend on how much McDaniels has grown since his time in Denver. He is hated in Denver by just about everyone, ex-players included. And they'll talk about it on the record. He was a total wreck in his first stint as a head coach, including overcomplicating the offense. If a guy like Davante is saying the offense is too complex, I don't think that's a good thing. Davante will make it work but what about the other 10 guys on offense?
Sometimes I wonder if DA will read the defense differently than Carr and the pass goes one way while DA goes the other. A few to many of those and I will wonder if he thinks he made a mistake and wishing to be back in GB. And maybe the way the offense is run, the ball doesn't go to DA as often. Money isn't everything.
Adams will not be as productive in Vegas. Carr's a solid QB, but he's not Rodgers, and Renfrow and Waller are much better targets than their Green Bay counterparts.
Carr will make it all seem worthwhile with one of his special back rubs.

I'm excited to watch that offense this year. Add in Josh Jacobs to that list of weapons too.
Take the over.

This means Denver will kick ass twice.
In that interview with @PeteDougherty, Gutekunst also pushed back on the idea the #Packers didn't make a competitive offer to Davante Adams last summer.
β Peter Bukowski (@Peter_Bukowski) September 2, 2022
Gutey says it was "comparable" to what they offered in March, which was reportedly more than the Raiders gave Adams.
Just more confirmation that it was never about the money.
It wasn't. Man wanted to work with his old best friend, be closer to family.
D. Adams handled the whole situation with a high level of professionalism. I hope he does well in Las Vegas. The Packers got him for the prime of his career, he will be inducted into the Packer HOF someday, and he played through injuries at various times during his career without complaining. Then, after all that, the Packers got 1st and 2nd rounds picks for him and the Raiders got to pay him the big money for his declining years. He's likely to be great for another 2-3 years max and then the Raiders will take the cap hit in 2025 to move on or renegotiate.
He really only got a 3 year, 67 million dollar deal. In 2025, he has a 40 million dollar cap hit and only counts 7 million of dead cap. It's highly likely the Packers exceeded the "real" money being offered.
I think this is one of those cases, where everyone got what they wanted. Packers got great compensation, the Raiders get a star player for 3 years, and Davante gets to finish his career in the team he grew up cheering for.
Great analysis MP, and I completely agree. Getting those draft picks and rebuilding the D will surely help this year.

Great summary
Watkins showing something.
Some in the media (Wilde, I'm looking at you) had floated the theory that the Packers low-balled Adams previously and that poisoned the negotiations. That reporting would appear to discredit that idea.
I heard Adams got 32 nos when he wanted to be traded to Raiders.

No it wouldnβt. If they started with a low ball that could absolutely poison future negotiations.
Love the "only got a 3 year, 67 million dollar deal," Michigan! Those numbers are so incomprehensible to working folks like me.
It's all Monopoly money until you start buying the yachts...
Back in Vegas, playing ball with his best Buddy, loaded with cash, being on a losing football team? Meh. Itβs not about the winning.
You forgot living next to his butt buddy.
Bonus.
Raiders are benching Derek Carr and turning to Jarrett Stidham as their new starting QB.
β Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 28, 2022
Carr has thrown a league-leading 14 interceptionsβ including three Saturday night during a 13-10 loss to the Steelers.
Stidham has thrown only 61 passes and never has started an NFL game.
"Any time you change QBs from hall-of-famer to hall-of-famer it's going to be a little bit of an adjustment."
Davante Adams
Holy shit. Well, that's it for Carr.
and #12 has thrown 10 INTβs. Still canβt believe that.
@PackerHawk posted:Holy shit. Well, that's it for Carr.
Sure sounds like it. Get this:
@VicTafur: If the Raiders sit Derek Carr Sunday, it will be the 4th game he misses in 9 seasons and the 1st not due to injury.
His salary of $33 million next year and $7.5 million in 2024 become guaranteed if he gets hurt, and front office met last 2 nights to decide on course of action.
AR to Vegas, Carr to GB, Carr probably traded and Love at the helm next year.
Could happen.

Yeah, all he got out of it was being closer to his grand parents and ton of $$$.
He could have had the $$$ and team success in GB. Hope paw paw and mee maw appreciate it.
