I asked earlier, why did he wait a year to bring this up? There is something missing.

Nothing is missing. AR went out and had one of the top 5 seasons a QB has ever had in the NFL and the Packers FO asked him to restructure his contract for more cap room and pushed back on an extension guaranteeing him more money/security.

He played good soldier, he said nicey nice, he had an amazing season, and the FO told him they don't want him after this year.

For everyone angry with Gute.  I can't explain why he moved up and picked Love and yes it looks like an unforced error,

but given the state of the roster when he took over and the cap situation, I think he has done a good job.  .

I generally agree with the second part of your statement above.

Gute quickly re-stocked a roster that had deteriorated badly while Ted was slipping, including by splurging in free agency.

However, regarding the first part, it is far more than just the Jordan Love selection. There have  been hints of a rift with Rodgers and the post-Ted front office for some time.

Remember how the Pack was rumored to be so enamored with DeShone Kizer that they were going to pick him at the top of round 2 in 2017? (While Ted was still nominally in charge, most observers believe his underlings including Gute were really handling things by that point).

In 2017, 33 year old Rodgers had just come off an incredible run in the 2016 season in which he carried a team with no D to the NFC Championship game and yet the front office was looking to spend its top pick on a QB. Weird.

Then there was Gute's apparent serious interest in Drew Lock in 2019 -- right after Aaron signed his big extension. Again, weird.

Gute then follows up in 2020 by trading up to take Love. Once again weird -- unless you actively want to move on from #12. (And let's hope Gute's opinion of Love's ability is better than it was with respect to Kizer and Lock).

There has been a lot going on behind the scenes that is now coming to the fore.

Going to get interesting.

I have a different take ....yes AR has a massive ego, but so does Murphy. It is Murphy's job to manage AR's ego, but he let his own interfere with that and that is how we've gotten to this point.

Murphy's job is to hire a GM, set ticket prices and make sure they don't run out of beer. He is not Jerry Jones or Marc Davis.  If he owned the team, he could do what he wants.  If there is blame, it is on the board that allowed him to change the management structure of the team and get involved in the ego massaging business or whatever.

I’m hoping he actually said “oh my word I’m just so unsure about how this all happened!” 😂

Me too.....

Priceless

Rodgers looks really thin, like he isn't eating meat again. Weird

Rich Eisen trolling Gutey ...?
Mike Clemens @MikeClemensNFL
Did the #Buccaneers give Tom Brady a heads up they were going to use a 2nd Rd pick on QB Kyle Trask, Florida? "Oh ya. We're in contact with Tom all the time texting back-n-forth. He just wants to know what's going on. He just wants to win." - Bruce Arians on @nflnetwork

Taking a QB at the end of round 2, when your starting QB is 44 fucking years old vs. trading UP in round 1 to take a QB when your starter is 37.

Apples & fucking Oranges. Jeezus fuck.q

Ron Wolf's legacy is surprisingly getting Brett Favre early on and a Super Bowl.

Ted Thompson's legacy is surprisingly getting Aaron Rodgers early on and a Super Bowl.

Brian Gutekunst is going full JJ Abrams.

Wasn’t it Wolf who said you should draft a QB every year?  Thompson mentioned it and often did.  Gunt drafts a QB and all hell breaks loose.

on one of the zillion articles out today, it was said that GB offered to guarantee 2021 AND 2022 and Rodgers team turned it down. I don’t know if that was Dunn or Rodgers himself.

At this point, I'm absolutely done speculating. Seemingly every sportswriter and blogger has an inside scoop. It's simultaneously comical and nauseating, because 99.9% of them have no more clue what is going on than we do.

This is all going to resolve itself, one way or another. Either Aaron Rodgers is our quarterback in 2021, or he isn't. The truth will come out of all this smoke, and then we can point fingers. All I know is that the off season has really just begun in earnest, and I'm already sick of it.

Nope. Just doing everything possible to move on from the best player in Franchise history as quickly as possible.

Because when you get the opportunity to push out a sure fire Hall of Famer coming off one of the best seasons in history just so you can hand the reins to the 6th best QB in the Mountain West Conference in 2019, I mean, you gotta do it!

by the way, whoever pegged yoko - that's brilliant, love this place.

That was originated with Olivia...of course since she's half-Asian, it was racist.

It never stuck with Danica.

Jolene Woody can have it...I think at most she's 1/8th Asian

That's what a man does!  Puts his stamp of failure right on it with authority!

So I am confused.  Isn't 'holding out of camp' a sub-set of 'won't play if Gutekunst is still here'?  Why would they be mentioned separately?

I’m just the messenger. Thought I would post it out of possible interest.

If this article is true “if” the GM totally pissed him off to the point  of that article says.

If that's the guy trying to sink the end of your career that's who you go after.

And your doing a wonderful job.  I was just talking about the article itself.

What a dark cloud over the franchise after what was viewed as a solid/Successful draft. And thank you !!!

Sink his career?  The only person that could sink his career is himself? If the Packers moved  on from him after 2021, he can go win a Super Bowl with the Broncos like Manning did.  Gute made a decision to hedge his bets that Rodgers might drop off in his late 30's.  He didn't and hasn't pushed him out the door or traded him to a lousy team.  It's not the move most people would have made, but it is not sinking the guys career.

As pointed out before, wanted to draft Kizer, traded for Kizer, wanted to draft Lock.

Zero fucking reason to look at Rodgers "down" years and think he was anywhere close to done.  Gunt has obviously been looking for his replacement the day he took the job and had zero fucking communication with Rodgers about it.  Makes it pretty easy for serious misunderstandings when you can't even manage to manage.

The funny thing about people talking about Rodgers diva/prima donna/ uber ego/eats waffles with a scapel is this fact.  Communication is pretty much the absolute base line of management.  Go fucking figure.  Kinda maybe shoulda figured that out Gunt.  Pretty fucking simple thing to do unless you're a lying shitheel or on a power trip.

Seriously, the clown completely lost me after reading that quote from that yutz.  Kinda maybe shoulda done my job.  Are you fucking 12?

On a side note, Gunt getting giddy over guys like Lock and Kizer doesn't exactly bode well for his ability to judge QB talent.
