I just feel bad for the players who got drafted.  Joe Horn brought it up last Friday, that when his son was drafted, ESPN barely mentioned it then moved right back to Aaron Rodgers coverage.  Thanks Adam.

The problem with this "news" was that what Shefter dropped was not news but it was reported as news.  The initial article specifically mentioned "per team and league sources" which alluded to it being news.  Instead, it was Adam's interpretation of a bunch of events over the last few months.  The article should have stated that.  F*ck Schefter and ESPN.

That's exactly what I thought. GB had a good draft of good players and this should be their moment in the spotlight. They're an afterthought.

Shefter also cited "league and team sources told him Thursday", implying it WAS breaking news that day even though he's walking it back as a collection of musings/rumblings/rumors/whatevers he had heard over months. It was certainly a calculated story drop by ESPN. Gross.

yep.  this is exactly it.  the picture is bigger than your time playing, when you are as good as both ar and tb, you transcend, your legendary - bring home championships and you will be rich beyond your dreams, i think he's concerned with right now and not 10 years from now, when he's not playing anymore.  if he's truly legendary, he takes a hit for the betterment of the whole program...he raises the water line.  tb12 is the goat, you cannot dispute that - where he is really the goat is  he knows it takes a team to win at this thing and he knows when he's all done, he is in football lore, forever - now that's legendary.

Ignorance is bliss as they say.

As others have pointed out, them both having the same agent is really tough situation.  It could turn out better for both players but it could also cost Love some real money in a couple of years.

Assuming...

If the money doesn't go to Rodgers it goes to Love, and Dunn gets his slice. Or, if the money doesn't go to Love it goes to Rodgers, and Dunn gets his slice.

Or, perfect world for Dunn. Packers commit to Rodgers through 2024, and Packers decide in '23 to exercise Love's 5th year, and Dunn does the double-up.

Adam Schefter Admits He Had No Sources On Rodgers/Packers Drama Story

Don't know how to post a video, but this is interesting.

It didn't receive the media attention it is now, but he made much the same point when he initially reported the story.

A little over 90 days, and nothing has really changed.

Per a league source, Rodgers wants a new contract.

April. 29, 2021

Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team, league and team sources told ESPN on Thursday.

And the guy who said all 32 teams should blacklist Schefter for life (vitaflo).  Shit is shameful.

Haven't looked, but which media dolts are walking back their scoop on this or are defending Schefter?

Demovsky is defending Schefter and his own support for the Schefter story. Of course the other local guys who like Bob are backing him up as well like Wilde. They all seem to be pretty chummy and not looking to make enemies so its no surprise there is no issue with irresponsible reporting from national media. Suppose if you start ripping guys like Schefter publicly you will quickly become a pariah.

Yeah, I mean...the media would NEVER try to corroborate lies just to make themselves look credible...would they?

They both work for ESPN. of course they would. It’s a good ole boys club. This was Schefter terrified someone else would scoop his story. And complete bullshit about “I just happen to break the story on draft day.”

Fuck you bro. It’s a shame how many spotlights were taken from kids including every Packer rookie due to Schefters complete selfishness. This was these kids day to shine. He didn’t give a damn about any of that.

I AM retired.

Mrs. Kiel just calls me unemployed.

I have zero doubt that a lot of this stuff was in the breeze for awhile.  The problem is how Schefter chose to cobble all of this shit into an aggregate and drop it like a fucking bomb at the worst time for maximum effect.  It gives the appearance of a cataclysmic event when in reality all the individual bits and pieces examined aren't so poisonous.

Seriously, Rodgers calling Gunt Jerry Krause?  First, who gives a shit.  I can only imagine that kind of crap goes on in every locker room on a regular basis but tag it on with all this other collective half baked shit and it's RODGERS WANTS GUNT FIRED!  It's all so out of control!

Just like the Kumerow thing, which AJ Hawk stated was one of the death buy a thousand cuts, it's now RODGERS WANTS GUNT FIRED FOR CUTTING KUMEROW!

Is there a problem?  Yes.  Is there a possibility Rodgers could leave?  Yes.  Is this being handled in a way that's completely different from the fairy tale Schefter spun?  Yes.

Fucking unbelievable.  Nice “reporting” Schefter.

This reminds me of the Malika Andrews “story” after the Bucks got beat by Toronto in game 6 from 2 years ago.  ESPN published an article from her literally right after the game ended with open speculation from “inside sources” that Giannis may not be inclined to stay in Milwaukee.  The best part was she asked him a question right after the game, and since he knew about the article, he walked out of the presser!

No wonder the Packers are upset about possible tampering and other shenanigans.  I mean, Schefter should be fired.  At a minimum, they need to issue a formal apology.  Or just boycott those ESPN fucks.

I can see Wilde backing up Demovsky who is backing up Schefter due to the 4-letter network connections.

I recalled AR being on with McAfee last year and he ripped the media for click-bait stories. Couldn't find the video, but here is the story.

{snipped}

“Is anybody surprised? All the fucking media does is write stories to get clicks... "

In that story there is a link to another story, with these AR comments:

"What I laugh at and do not spend any time watching, but unfortunately, it's usually ESPN's on here, the [NFL] Network's on over there in our cafeteria, it's just four guys, four men or four women, however it shakes out, and everybody's trying to say the most outlandish thing possible to get the most clickbait."

{snip}

"All they're gonna read is eight words on ESPN's front page and that's what these people are trying to get people to click on. If they get one second on that page, that counts as a page view. And the more page views you get, the more ad revenue you get.

"And I think it's really low-class journalism. Some of the headlines that get put on some of these articles that have nothing to do with what's actually, content-wise, in the article. I think it's poor journalism. I think it's a total lack of integrity."

He calls out ESPN a couple more times.

As @tsr86free mentioned, the Packers are looking for QBs for OTAs.  Being they have all of one QB on the roster besides Rodgers, that would make sense.  Yet, in all the new stories coming out, Schefter's fantasy is now the cornerstone to spin out any other story.

The rest of the media doesn't want that story to go away.  The tawdriness of it all just makes everything spun off of it more reality tv like.

It's sports, so there isn't life or death implications here but it just shows the sickness in this culture.

Does it matter if there is a mea culpa or any kind of effort to set the record straight?  No.  I can't remember which politician it was but he was talking about town halls, etc.  When there was someone screaming and heckling in the audience were they removed?  Nope.  He brought them into the front row to "ask questions" when in reality the drama would get him much more attention.

Stories like this aren't an issue of truth being secondary because truth was never the goal in the first place.  Why?  Because this culture values salacious conduct and propaganda over truth.  We are a liar nation.

I for one am relieved that this was all BS and we can look forward to 4 or 5 years of AR at the helm.  I also think that Murph and Gutey are due some apologies for the things we have said.

I thought Murphy and Gunt were dopes before all this broke so they can fuck right off. Murphy needs to get gone.  He's been fucking up for over a decade now.  The handling of the Love pick is obviously true because Gunt said so and it was obviously a major driver of the problem as it stands.

I'm willing to give the FO the benefit of the doubt on how it's all being handled now but the bad press was all about Rodgers, not the clown car FO.

Not to mention...now Schithead's "I connected the dots," reasoning behind his story throws shade on every other "journalist," who had "sources," of their own. Well fuck...maybe some of them had sources, maybe some of them just embellished some shit...who knows...the whole thing makes the media's handling of this en masse look like a real slimey shit show motivated by clickbait.

Sadly, that is what "journalism," in this country has become. Been that way in the UK for decades, except there they have the decency to distinguish between legit media and tabloids.

And people wonder why newspapers are on the verge of bankruptcy. Shit like this doesn't help their cause.

If one good thing came out of this, it's that it shined a light on what a lightweight Gunt is as a complete GM...he's a talented film monkey/roster builder...which has great value, but does not a GM make.

Time to give MLF the authori-tie to manage the roster...he's fucking earned it with his record, and let Gunty run the scouting which is his forte.

Packer Board needs to put the Ginger Windbag on notice...enough with all this dumbfuckery!
