No love for the Donkeys but how much does this story dropping the night of the draft play into them not drafting a QB with one of their 2 1st round picks? I know they are higher on the food chain and wouldn't make a decision based upon just this report, but it could have influenced them into thinking along the lines that they have a real chance to land AR, why draft a QB and be in the same position the Packers are in. I still see the Donkeys not taking a QB as a bad sign that he could be gone.
What about Schlereth saying:
“[I have a] very reliable source outside of Denver, someone who has never steered me wrong. Told me this thing is heating up and close to a done deal.”
This even caught AR out cold and asked Schlereth about its reliability.
I find it also interesting that everybody, particular teamates, ex-teamates etc, that AR has actually communicated with have given a different impression of what is going on and where it stands. What a circus.
I thought it was a stretch that this was a Rodgers troll, but maybe that isn't so farfetched.
He wants a commitment, sure, he basically has said that. Beyond that, everything else is unverifiable crap.

Latest drama to hit the air waves
Take a guess who Schefter's agent is? That would be CAA.
Adam Schefter | Speaking Fee, Booking Agent, & Contact Info | CAA Speakers
Take a guess who Rodger's agent is? That would be CAA.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has signed with CAA Sports for off-the-field representation, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. His players agent remains David Dunn at Athletes First.
So now the story goes that either Rodgers or Dunn told Schefter to leak this on draft day. And that Rodgers "not wanting this to come out" on draft weekend is a load of crap. And that Schefter had the inside information via CAA and sat on it until he or Rodgers told him to drop the bomb thereby making that entire draft mostly about Rodgers.
And it's being said that if in fact Aaron didn't want this reported, especially during the draft, he could have easily squashed the story with a tweet, a statement, a leaked statement to one of his goons, or told Schefter via the same agency to keep his mouth shut. He chose to do none of that.
Hard to see at this point, even if the Packers kiss and make up, that Rodgers comes out smelling like a rose. Because right now, many are saying he's as selfish a prick as Schefter is.
Who is they?
I mean this is a huge avenue to reconciliation. Reach a 3 year guaranteed contract and announce it on June 2nd at a huge press conference in front of Lambeau. Unite against the media, proclaiming that they had some issues but worked them out and are exited that Rodgers will playing in Green Bay through his 40th birthday. Leak to Schefty that a deal to Denver is imminent and let him flail in the wind. Can I be GM now?
Need to run your GM hiring past AR.
Get in line behind Boris.
@Henry posted:Let's also remember that Paul fucking Allen was a big catalyst to this shit with his 9ers trade crap.
What Paul Fucking Allen did is worse than what the Whiners or the Donkeys may have done. If anybody is charged with tampering it should be the shit show in Suckqueens land. They did shit with TOG and now this. Isn't Allen employed by the Vikings? What would happen to the Packers if Larry McCarren said he heard Cousins molested little boys?
@Goalline posted:3-4 years is a lifetime, for the rest of a 38 year old's football career. Aaron hasn't been Tom Brady like in any way, yet we seem to think he'll be winning Super Bowls at the age of 43? He won't. Not without a supreme change in his approach.
It is about longevity not money., You've got to be fucking kidding me. You mean, if Gunt cuts him in 2022 his career will be over??? They will be lining up around the block suck that MVP dick.
This, plain and simple is about ego and butt hurt. The ego and butt hurt that came about because the GM fell in love(Love?) with a young QB.
Longevity with the Packers is what I'm talking about. 12 has said numerous times over the years how much he admires players across all sports that can say they played their entire career with 1 franchise.
Also, fuck Tom Brady. He was extremely lucky last year to be in the goddamn Superb Owl much less win it.
For someone that was so butthurt about Love, he sure didn't act like it. Seems like he tried to be the opposite of what Bert was to him when he was picked. Not buying that at all. Now is he ass-mad Gunty didn't reach out to him or communicate about it? 100%...but from what it sounds like, this was the only lack of communication issue the personnel savant has been challenged with.
Can't wait to hear Kornheiser and Florio spin their way out of this new development of this "story".
I suggest every one should R E L A X. We don’t know where this is going, plenty of smoke out there. Even Kuuuuuuhn says there is just a 70 to 75% AR plays for GB.
Let’s let this beautiful mystery unfold.

AR also had a front row seat to "how NOT to do it" with Favray/Cook. Because of that fiasco - he has gone out of his way to become a WI resident and to retire a lifetime Packer, just like his hero Bart Starr. He also bought ownership in the Bucks as part of his commitment to WI sports fans.
His beer chugging was pathetic, so he has a ways to go - but he's certainly made significant efforts off the field to show his commitment and desire to be a lifetime WI dude.
he needs to take chugging lessons from Bakh.

Florio already had a story bashing Schefter’s walk back.

Partially. In typical scumbag fashion, he also reports his own intuition as some credible truth.
"So what’s the truth? The truth, as best we can tell, is that Rodgers and his camp wanted this to come out last Thursday, and that they made it happen. Regardless of whether they specifically cajoled Schefter to report it or simply lit the fuse by leaking the story of the 49ers making a trade offer to the Packers, they wanted it to happen."
"Does any of this matter to the question of whether Rodgers wants out of Green Bay? Nope. Does the notion that Rodgers didn’t deliberately drop this story on the first day of the draft tend to paint Rodgers in a more favorable light (and thus position Schefter for any and all Rodgers-related scoops to come)? Abso-freaking-lutely."
Denver sports radio has already sold themselves that Rodgers will be their starting QB. They haven't gone more than 5 minutes without talking about Rodgers coming to Denver. They spent 15 minutes comparing the Broncos roster with Rodgers to the Chiefs, coming to conclusion that of course the Broncos are better. God I would to love to have Rodgers stay in Green Bay and hear Denver sports radio pout for an entire season.
A level headed article without all the histrionics.
The saddest thing about this, from afar I've felt like Gutekunst has done at worst a pretty good job and maybe even a very good job considering the Pack has gone to the NFC Championship game 2 consecutive times for the first time in 23 years.
As more has come out about the details of why the Gutekunst/Rodgers relationship is toxic, I can see Rodgers' side a bit on this, but geez I wish he wasn't offended by every fricking thing Gute has done that he perceives as a slight.
Rodgers needs to let the GM do his job, and Gute maybe needs to at least make a better attempt to try to keep his star player motivated and content than he has been. It will take both of them to fix the fractured relationship, if they can't fix it, one of them will be gone by training camp.

The rest of the media doesn't want that story to go away. The tawdriness of it all just makes everything spun off of it more reality tv like.
It's sports, so there isn't life or death implications here but it just shows the sickness in this culture.
Does it matter if there is a mea culpa or any kind of effort to set the record straight? No. I can't remember which politician it was but he was talking about town halls, etc. When there was someone screaming and heckling in the audience were they removed? Nope. He brought them into the front row to "ask questions" when in reality the drama would get him much more attention.
Stories like this aren't an issue of truth being secondary because truth was never the goal in the first place. Why? Because this culture values salacious conduct and propaganda over truth. We are a liar nation.
I laugh at the media frenzy about the Packers looking for QBs. They are too freaking dense and lazy to realize that you need camp arms because they only have two QBs right now.
The media to me are behaving like social media these days. They only are looking to report the bad things and work everyone in to a frenzy over nothing.

No, because they didn't volunteer it. I'm sure due to the situation every team that drafted a QB with an entrenched or planned starter was getting the same question.
From @89JonesNTAF on NFL Now on @nflnetwork on his friend and former #Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers: "It's not about getting the GM fired. It's all about making sure we have the key guys we need to win championships."
James has repeatedly called this situation "fixable."
Fixable if the Ginger Windbag decides to be a leader.
Bad enough that the man has no soul. Now you call him a windbag. It is tough being a minority in America.
