Oh really. Maybe he would. More likely he wouldn't. Chances are he would be more like a slightly beefed up Abbrederis.

All I can say is that he looked good against the same caliber of DB's that Janis and other marginal WRs torch every preseason. Did McCaffrey ever run against legit 1-4 CBs this past preseason? There are always a lot of Mr. August's.

One of the Milwaukee reporters (cant recall who as I was driving and flipping channels) was saying he thinks the Packers coaches saw MCCaffery as very polished and reliable but was'nt going to get much better.

As far as the angst guys like Henry showed about the bottom of the roster, it just goes to show how complete this roster is when we are debating the #3 QB, #10 OL, #4RB, #6/7 WR, etc,,, although, still sad about losing Price(sniff).

The year Ted signs 5 Free agents, he's still taking **** from the haters. Spoiled babies, all of them.

Actually, Ted has signed 6 veteran free agents so far this year not 5 in Brooks, Francois, House, Evans, Kendricks, and Bennett.

Now word on the street is that former 49er Quinton Dial is coming in for a visit tomorrow. Should he sign, that would make 7.

Love it, bravo Ted.

Remember when we used to hear that Ted was the best because he rarely, rarely signed free agents?

My how the worm has turned.

Here's the thing though...all of those you mentioned but Bennett, were technically street FA's. Ted signs those guys fairly regularly. It's the unrestricted FA's he won't typically touch, all because he doesn't want to mess with his precious(to him)compensatory draft picks. I'd be willing to bet anything if Elliott is his successor, the philosophy regarding FA's and trades(including draft picks) will change substantially, and that will be an incredibly refreshing change.

Elliott's dad knew when to make splash FA signings, and was never afraid to do so, and it won the Packers a Super Bowl. Imagine that.

And Elliot's dad won how many more super bowls than TT?

Until it's not so complete anymore.

Until it's the end of the season, all the starters are down and we trot out 2 projects at WR. Like would never happen.

CORRECTION: Like just happened 2 seasons ago.

I think it comes down to a question of what you want as backups: actual backups, or projects with the proverbial "potential" to be "stars." TT and MM have repeatedly made their preference clear.

I get it, it's just, the risk is, the potential doesn't get realized and your Hall of Fame QB ends up out there pointing where to line up and shaking his head in disgust. Like would never happen.

CORRECTION:  Ah, **** it.

Unusual year, I agree. But the upside of the guys on the PS now is higher than McCaffrey. If our top 5 (Cobb, Jordy, Adams, Geronimo, and gulp, Janis) can stay healthy any length of time, the guys on the PS develop and can step in. They may not be as assignment-sure as McCaffrey seemed to be right away, but they also become better than McC quicker.
