Gee, how did this year's great white hope not end up being claimed by 31 teams?

I like McCaffrey, mind you, but he's about maxed out from what I have seen.

It will be interesting to see which WRs make the PS. Me, I'm taking Clark and Dupre before any of the others. A lot more potential there, why not take developmental guys at what is arguably the team's deepest position.

EDIT: Just saw about Jayrone. I agree with Henry, which is basically what I said yesterday.

Now let's get a vet OL or two. I wouldn't be surprised if they are considering a signing after week 1 so as to avoid the veteran's guaranteed salary business.

Max, Clark, and Dupre are different recievers. Different skill sets. Dupre probably has the biggest upside of all the young recievers. Looks like "total package" material. Clark is intruiging. He doesn't know how to play WR today but you have to try and develop 6'6" guys with that kind of wingspan and speed. Max is a possession guy that runs clean routes. You need a Max on the roster. And it's not like he totally lacks athleticism.

Its great to have them on the PS (assuming Clark and Max agreed to sign) it's not crazy that those three are all part of the revamped WR group in GB in a couple years with Allison and Adams.

Surprising move. Colts cut veteran C Brian Schwenke. That's the kind of OL depth GB needs. Ted better jump all over that.

Colts cutting an OL who can still play? Reign of fools. Andrew Luck may go down with Greg Cook as the greatest modern-day QBs ruined by injury.

I think it's more that the Colts have a lot of depth on the OL. I think they were carrying three centers. I wouldn't want Schwenke as a starter. But he's good interior depth and has started a lot of games. He will be picked up by someone though.

I get the angst over Janis v Max but let's not forget we kept Jarrett Bush for years for the same reason.  Dude couldn't play DB but he was very important on special teams.  The hope eventually is he will either figure out WR or one of the younger guys like Jones can take his place. Every roster spot matters and Max looked pretty good at WR.

Good point. If Janis makes one play a game as a gunner on special teams that saves 10-15 yards of field position on a punt return, that's probably more of an impact than the 6th or 7th WR is going to ever have.

Same thing with a 3rd string QB like Hill. If Rodgers ends up missing some games, Hundley appears good enough to give them a chance to steal a couple games when Rodgers is out. If Rodgers and Hundley both get hurt and miss a large number of games, they probably aren't going anywhere come playoff time anyway.

In the end it almost always comes down to keeping your star players/difference makers healthy. If the majority of the group that includes Rodgers, Nelson, Daniels, CM3, Dix, Bennett, Bahktiari, Burnett, and whoever their top CB is stays healthy they'll probably be a Super Bowl contender. The most important factor in not going deeper each of the last 4 years has been an injury to one of their key players. In 2016, it was Sam Shields. In 2015, it was Jordy  Nelson. In 2014, it was Rodgers' calf injury (if Rodgers was healthy that Seattle NFCC game isn't even close). In 2013, it was Rodgers' collarbone which kept them from a better playoff seed. Of course, in 2012 it was some problem with Dom's coaching that allowed Kaepernik to run for what seemed to be about 400 yards in the playoffs.

I will never understand how Goodson on the PUP makes more sense than Gilbert or Donatello Brown. Gilbert and Brown look like they could actually contribute. Goodson can't cover anyone and he's even worse on ST. IT. MAKES. NO. SENSE!!!!

That's because you don't focus on special teams players.

The best overall ST player in GB last year was Jayrone Elliott. Banjo was right behind Jayrone. Both gone now.

I don't agree with the argument that GB needs to continue to protect key ST contributors (see Elliott, Jayrone) It's not like ST were at a level last year to the point you're looking to keep that core in place.

The year Ted signs 5 Free agents, he's still taking **** from the haters. Spoiled babies, all of them.

Actually, Ted has signed 6 veteran free agents so far this year not 5 in Brooks, Francois, House, Evans, Kendricks, and Bennett.

Now word on the street is that former 49er Quinton Dial is coming in for a visit tomorrow. Should he sign, that would make 7.

Love it, bravo Ted.

Remember when we used to hear that Ted was the best because he rarely, rarely signed free agents?

My how the worm has turned.

Here's the thing though...all of those you mentioned but Bennett, were technically street FA's. Ted signs those guys fairly regularly. It's the unrestricted FA's he won't typically touch, all because he doesn't want to mess with his precious(to him)compensatory draft picks. I'd be willing to bet anything if Elliott is his successor, the philosophy regarding FA's and trades(including draft picks) will change substantially, and that will be an incredibly refreshing change.

Elliott's dad knew when to make splash FA signings, and was never afraid to do so, and it won the Packers a Super Bowl. Imagine that.

Letting Favre go was done because Ted was never afraid to do so. You sound like a Brett guy. Let it go. It worked out. Unless your a Brett guy.

If only Ted had won a Super Bowl. Sad!

This is like all those native Louisiana residents blaming Obama for the mess that occurred after Katrina.
