That was just a by product of package we opened up in. Smith still got 11 more snaps than Gary
Taking away 1/3 of the field for the running game is making big plays. If the Packers got the same attention to detail from the other end(s) the sniff test for the Packers D would be a lot sweeter.

They played the same package all game on 1st down. 2 DL and 2 OLB. They gave the nod to Gary on snap 1 and I think it had nothing to do with package or matchup and everything to do with reward / punishment.
Not what LaFeur and P. Smith both said independent of each other in their presserers..... and they played 3 interior defensive line-man some on First downs, at least on Philly's second possession they did.
I just watched every snap via All 22. There was nothing different about the first series, that Gary started, compared to the snaps when Preston came in. Well, except for the Eagles noticed he was in and ran wide to his side as often as they could because he refuses to play disciplined in the run game.
Same personal & alignment for Eagles on each of them?
So maybe in year three of a five year deal the Packers will get an every game player. Sweet.
2019 Draft class is looking pretty damn good the past couple weeks.
Since we'll get almost zero from the 2020 class, those 2019 picks need to come on strong heading into the post season for this team to have a shot at the ring. They're the best candidates for developmental emergence and acceleration. You don't usually see older vets suddenly getting better in January.

A lot of it depends on Gary's health and availability.
I think things may have clicked for Savage. It took Nick Collins a couple of years before he was able to use his speed at the pro level due to what are likely adjustments in the angles you have to take when most WRs are faster than what you see in college.
Jenkins is a franchise cornerstone and Keke is as good as you can expect for a lower draft pick.
I don't have a lot of confidence that Sternberger is going to be a major contributor, but Tonyan has given us what we could have expected from Sternberger anyway.
Savage has been dinged a lot too. Everybody needs health.

I think it's the position of TE. for whatever reason, that position just takes 2-3 years to for guys to develop. TJ Hockenson, a top pick in the draft for the Lions, is finally coming on this season. JerMichael Finley took a couple years here. And Sternberger due to injury his rookie year is still getting it together.
Unfortunately for him, Tonyan has had a break out year and that leaves his playing time in 2021questionable at best. For several games this year, Sternberger was only getting playing time on ST's. And there was also a rumor that Gute made it own he was available via trade before the deadline. Not a great sign for his long term job security here.

who?
Sternberger won't get a 2nd contract from the Pack...on top of Tonyan playing really well, Josiah Deguara seems to be highly liked by the organization too.

Kingsley Keke was a 5th round pick.
But who is Jenkins?
Future ProBowl Guard, er Tackle, I mean Center.
For the uninitiated. Leroy is the man!

Backup point guard.
Really played well against the Titans.
Gary is showing promise at the right time
Collinsworth mentioned that Gary’s additional playing time was really helping P and Z. He really is becoming that guy who has to be accounted for because he’s bull rushing LTs and collapsing the pocket even if he isn’t picking up the sack numbers. He did a lot in containing Henry as well.
That was a complete performance by the D and Gary may actually be the answer to the shit in the middle of the field simply because he’s freeing up Z and P more and Clark isn’t getting double and triple teamed. Z, P and Gary are big boys that can be shuffled pretty successfully. Gary coming into his own really gives you hope for a Super Bowl run.
Gary may cover for the fat body they need.
" Gary coming into his own really gives you hope for a Super Bowl run."
Gary and Savage improving as the season winds down along with Martin and Barnes getting more PT is what gives me hope that we don't give up 50 in the playoffs.
Gary is so good. Puts a ton of pressure on QBs. He just needs to develop into a finisher like Z.

One of the most encouraging results is that he stopped running past the QB.
Now - once he gets even with QB , he stops and redirects instead of just flying harmlessly by as he was before.
Coach Smith along with Z & P are continuing the education of young Gary and its starting to pay dividends.
Another big part of the D's success sunday was the O. Jumping out to that lead put the D in a great position.
I don't think the early Packer lead changed the Tennessee game plan at all. The Titans ran the ball on 1st/2nd down frequently to set up the PA on 3rd. That's their normal MO... and GB stuffed it right up their ass.
GO PACK GO!
Of course it did. And it rippled through the second half. The D loaded the box early knowing they could risk some deep throws because of the lead. Our secondary shut their passing game down without having to flood passing lanes with extra DBs. And had help from our pass rush. Everything was working together sunday night.

Agree. After the Titans scored on the 1st drive of the 3rd quarter it was 19-14. They were still run heavy on 1st and 2nd down throughout that quarter and the reason we were able to build that lead is because we shut Henry down and gave the ball back to #12.
Yep, defensive success on 1st and 2nd down was huge. There was a good number of 3rd down plays where Henry was on the bench. It's a different offense when they don't have the PA fake to Henry.
It's nice to have RBs who not only run well but catch the ball well. Titans: Henry in the game = run; Henry out = pass. Packers: Jones/Williams/Dillon in the game = run or pass. So many more options when your backs can catch AND run well.
Dillon did catch a pass, didn't he. It would be huge if he is an option to have the ball thrown his way too.
He caught a couple and look soft and sure handed. You know, catching away from his body and all like a WR.
My bad.
If I'm not mistaken, MLF and Gute mentioned that they liked how he was a good receiver when they drafted him as well as his running. So far, he's been pretty sure-handed.
None of it mattered. They happened in garbage time. 1st and second quarters, I believe.
