Going to be an interesting camp. Ted went all in on Sam Seale as a scout for years. Didn’t work out great. Gute is going down the Charlie Walls board.

Draft is a brutal business.

You realize that shoulders move in more than one plane, right? Benching is but one movement.

No I don't realize that, I skipped that day of anatomy where they went over what is and isn't used in the shoulder during bench press. I've never had a torn labrum, I will take your word for it. Point is I don't think the shoulder harness is an issue.

We’ll see, but I'm not taking the word of that ****ing coaching staff.

I did not initially like this pick at all.

Two weeks have passed and lots of commentary and opinion on the pick and player.

i have reached the conclusion that I still hate this pick.

I'm still leaning this way also. Take whatever trade back you can get at 12, take Savage there, Deebo at 30, Jenkins and Sternberger are cool, then Max Crosby, Isaiah Johnson and Marvell Tell or David Edwards. That defensive backfield is still way too thin.

I hated the pick at the time but have come to the conclusion it won’t do me a lot of good to hate it now.  The pick is the pick.  I hope for him (and the Packers) it works out.  This team needs for a player taken that high to make an impact.

Maybe Gary really is the real deal and will live up to the hype.  If so, we should be a decent shape.  He should get plenty of chances to prove himself.

The real frustration for me is still the Kevin King and Vince Biegel instead of TJ Watt move.   For this to ever come close to turning out King needs to 1) stay healthy and 2) play at a high level.  The odds of both happening at this point are  low at best.

I think Pettine will turn Gary into something fierce.

Come back in a year or two and we'll see.

I don't think he's Datone Jones or Perry.

I would be absolutely thrilled with that...

One of the more polarizing picks in recent memory. Packers are obviously gambling on the potential (unrealized at UM) that made him the top HS recruit in the country. Like the fact the team is willing to take the risk and only time will tell if the move was a good one.  It's a roll of the dice with any player and even the ones viewed as really "safe" picks often don't quite pan out (see: Hawk, A.J.).

It’s over. King is made of single ply toilet paper and Biegel is playing special teams in New Orleans.

Pretty much my take on every Packers pick.  I mean I talked myself into Donnell Washington, James Lee, Joey Thomas, etc. so wasn't that hard to talk myself into Gary.

But seriously, I would have preferred a trade down to 20ish, nab Savage with that pick then pick a guy like Dalton Risner or whatever OL Gute liked best at #30.  Then 2 second round picks (with the trade down) to pick a WR and another OL.  But it takes two to tango and apparently Gute had a hard on for Gary, so we'll see.

By they way, if you want to get depressed go look at the 2004 draft.  Ahmad Carroll, Joey Thomas, Donnell Washington and BJ Sander in the first 3 rounds.  Can't imagine a team has made 4 worse picks in the first 3 rounds in an NFL draft than this.  Only saving grace of the draft was Corey Williams and Scott Wells in the 6th and 7th.

Is he single and ready to mingle?  Prettiest man I ever saw.

i would gladly date the guy if it meant removing the stink that is Kevin King and Vince Biegel draft combo.

Speaking of King, please stay the hell away from Gary as he might blow out his shoulder just talking to you.

TJ - 13 sacks, 21 QB hits, 68 tackles, 6 forced fumbles

KF- 10.5 sacks, 42 tackles, 12 QB hits, 0 forced fumbles

As a situational guy Fackrell made some nice plays but I hope people are not suggesting he’s as good or makes as much of an overall impact as TJ Watt.

I am lukewarm on Gary but there is hate buried somewhere deep inside waiting to be released if he turns into Nick Perry 2.0.  Perry was a decent player, but other than his contract year, I don't ever remember him NOT being hurt during a season.  He was physically gifted but certain body parts on him were fragile as glass.

Perry was a pure 4-3 DE that tried to be wizzer-ded into a standup OLB and he wasn’t completely terrible. Perry is Randall is Rollins is Hayward is Hyde.

One of the biggest mistakes a front office can make is thinking the coaching staff is better than they really are and can coach up draft picks that aren’t a great fit for the position the brass envisions.

Gary was picked for Pettine. So was Savage. Difference is Pettine has history with players like Gary and Savage. Same goes for the two Smiths.

Its not square peg round hole thinking. Plan to player is a completely different thing than player to plan.

Not comfortable with a guy who knows he needs surgery, but puts it off to make more money.

Who the **** wouldn't?  I don't like the pick because it was too high of a slot for his production, has nothing to do with character.

I will be more than happy to say I was wrong about Gary being picked at 12.  In fact, I absolutely want to be wrong.  I hope he’s a future Packers HoF inductee.  But as of today, still hate the pick at 12, and the choice in player overall.
