From Rick Gosselin at the Dallas Morning News

"The Packers have a fourth-round rookie (David Bahktiari) start at left tackle and he shut down DeMarcus Ware straight up Sunday. The Cowboys drafted David Arkin in the fourth round, made him a two-year inactive and then cut him. The Cowboys need better drafting and better coaching."

Top-5 money is probably too rich for Bakhtiari on the surface but a: it is the latest contract, b: he's young and theoretically ascending to his prime, and c: imo, continuity with a good line is HUGE and you never want to change more than one lineman in a year, preferably every couple of years. Add in that he plays at the premier O-line position and it's a solid deal, imo.

Chad Clifton started 160 games for GB at LT over a 12 year career that spanned from 2000-2011. Bakhtiari has already started 47 games at LT at the beginning of his career (2013). If he plays out this contract, he'll be there until 2020.

Stability at LT is a key. It will be nice to have two borderline Pro Bowl level guys at that position for what looks like 20 out of 21 years.  Not sure Bakh will ever get to the Clifton level, but he's a guy you know is good enough to win with.

2012 is the outlier with Marshall Newhouse there (although it was probably supposed to be Sherrod).

You would have to think Lang is next. There's no one else on that list where you look at it and think "Wow, we really can't afford to lose that guy." However, the Lang extension may depend on what their thinking is with how Spriggs and Bulaga are going to be handled in terms of playing time and position. You have to figure they didn't trade up to get Spriggs to have him sit on the bench for 3-4 years.

I think Tretter is next. Nice to have two NFL caliber Centers.

Esspecially when they can probably both play Guard.

I think Eddie comes before Lang as well.

Spriggs may end up our RT of the future.

Sadly, because I really admire the guy, this may be Hydes last year in GB.

But I hope I am wrong and they find a way to keep him.
