I'll defer to your expertise. I just remember the offers weren't that far apart and he went for the bigger money.
release Preston "I only play good every other year" Smith and release Dean "the difference maker" Lowry to be the monster he is

I actually have good things to say about Ohno. Itβs fish with a texture like chicken and was very good. I just happened to eat some that maybe wasnβt cooked enough or sat in the sun too long and got some minor food poisoning out of it.
I think it is ono.
I hope they keep Preston. If we lose him and Z we will only have Gary really at OLB and we need to focus on DLine as well.

Thanks for the correction, you are 100% right. I guess thatβs why I went home crying after I lost at the Wisconsin state spelling bee in 1980.
Well, you were 35.

Another one: the Packers have converted $11.58M of LT David Bakhtiari's 2022 compensation into a signing bonus, creating significant cap space for this season, per source.
A busy week for the Packers' cap continues.
The Pat M show is coming up, I wonder if any big decision will be revealed?
I keep hearing that Rodgers wants an Adams deal done before he commits to coming back but how can the Packers sign Adams if Rodgers doesn't rework his deal and thus commit to come back? Someone has to be the first domino.
Man this team is going to be a wreck once cap hell arrives. Look at the Saints cap situation right now because the Packers are doing exactly what the Saints did the last few years. The Saints actually can't get under the cap this year by just releasing players due to the dead cap hits. By constantly restructuring to free up cap space for the Brees years, the only way to get under the cap this year is to restructure more contracts. That just extends their cap issues into next year and they don't even have a QB. Gonna be interesting to follow because like I said, this'll be us in a few years.
Once the new Sunday ticket deal is signed I hear cap increase will be huge. Good news for packers if that is the case
If DirecTV loses it, do they go bankrupt before the contract expires? I think that's probably about the only advantage they have over better-priced alternatives and AT&T spun them back into their own entity last year to sink or swim on their own.
β(The Packers) are doing things that have Rodgersβ fingerprints on them. I just donβt see Clements coming back if Rodgers is out the door.β β @CharlesRobinson to @robertmays.

Charles has been hooked into this story from the very start.
Tom Clements worked wonders with 12, but could you also make a case that he could help 10 as well? I guess I donβt see that move as some slam dunk that heβs set to return.
As for the notion heβs waiting to see what Adams may do, well, it could go either way. If Iβm Adams, not sure Iβm interested in staying in GB if 12 isnβt there. If Iβm the team, Iβm not sure I sign Adams to a record breaking deal without 12.
It all starts and stops with Rodgers.
I guess what I donβt understand is if he were set to return why not announce it already?

Heard Florio on Dan Patrick driving in today. While Florio can be full of it much of the time, he had a good point about Rodgers. Florio thinks he's going back to Green Bay and they are negotiating the contract. He thinks Rodgers isn't going to announce anything until the contract is finalized because he loses leverage once he says he's coming back and other teams move on to Plan Bs.
The other thing Florio was pushing today is Brady to the Niners. He thinks its already in the works and that it will come down to whether the Bucs let him leave.

Clements has zero connection to LaFleur. Bringing him in has Rodger's fingerprints all over it.
If Brady does indeed go to the Niners that makes them the odds on favorite out of the NFC even if Rodgers returns to GB.
The Packers are a distant 3rd to SF and LAR. Or basically in the same category as Dallas or AZ. Which means maybe one playoff win and thatβs about it.

Wonβt that apply to the 2023 cap?

Other than that Mrs Lincolnβ¦.
I finally finished the Lincoln documentary. The ending didn't change.
I don't think 17 is coming back...Packers can't honestly afford him...wonder if 12 is putting that into his decision process?

If Jaire Alexander isn't on the field for that last drive, the Niners likely have 4th and 7 at the 38 with 1 minute left and an interesting decision on whether to try a 55 yard FG or go for it. Instead, he whiffs on the tackle to avoid hitting him with his injured right shoulder (see screen captures below) and the play ruptures for another 9 yards and a first down. You really have to go out of your way not to hit Samuel with your right shoulder based on where Alexander was positioned. Yet another poor decision by the Packers coaching staff on which injured guys to bring back to play and which guys to sit.

The problem was Barry had his "pass" package in. Not only did Alexander whiff on the tackle, but Z Smith was lined up as an interior pass rusher and offered no resistance on that run. Problem was not having these guys suit up , it was having them on the field having to defend the run. IDK about everyone else, but did anyone (other than Barry) really think SF was going to let Jimmy G pass the ball there? Now perhaps if we had come out with our "run" defense they would have passed?

Iβd play Jaire with one arm and one ball over most of our other corners. The other guys would miss that tackle too.
The 9ers gave up 3 first round picks and a 3rd to move up and get Lance. Does anyone honestly think he doesnβt start this year?
Everyone losing their shit that we gave up a 4th to move up and get Love but the 9ers mortgaged their entire future for Lance. No way he doesnβt play. They are not signing Brady. Get that crap outta here.
Niners without a 1st Rounder this year and next. What do they have to trade to TB for the rights to Brady??
Prestige.

@ammo posted:Bill Micheals reported the same thing on his radio show today. He got the info from a guy he really trusts he said. Micheals' guy did not get it from Rodgers directly but from those representing Rodgers.
He also said no team has won a Super Bowl in the cap era with any player taking up more than 13.9% of the cap. So while the $50 million would not be the cap number for next season it would certainly be more than 13.9%. But he also said Rodgers may think he is the guy who would do just that.
This is technically true but the Rams just won a SB with Stafford and Goff using up $45 million of their cap in 2021.

Supposedly the Brady camp is floating the idea that the Bucs "owe" him for brining them a Super Bowl title and they should just let him do what he wants. I've read this from other sources other than Florio, so there is probably some fire with that much smoke.
You could tell Arians was sick of it this week to when someone asked him what it would take for them to allow Brady to play for someone else he said 5 first-round draft picks.
So much for the "Brady always does what's best for the team." Brady does what's best for Brady and his brand. He got his money which is why he is going to cost the Bucs 15 million in dead cap this year and 9 million in dead cap in 2023.
@Herschel posted:I think teams retain player rights through void years (unless cut or βofficiallyβretire) iirc.
I don't think that's right. Everything I've seen shows guys with voided years as free agents. Kevin King for example. I think he had two voided years on his one year deal but he's a free agent later this month.
