I haven't heard any retirement talk from #12 yet. Too early to be using that high of a pick on a backup who could be gone before he plays a down.
Maybe, but with the fifth-year option Rodgers would be 41 before needing to commit a big contract.
Fromm? Don't get that at all. He needs to stay his senior year, he's not close to being a day one pick.

The Saints and Brees will be the template for how to handle the Rodgers situation if/when we get to that point.
Tua will fall into someone's lap.
Vikings should take him. They could redshirt him during Cousins last year then he's ready to take over in 2021.
But that would be the smart thing to do. Instead they will throw 100 million plus at Cousins for 3 more years and waste the remaining years of their outside shot of a Super Bowl. Then you tear it all down and start over. Make it happen, Vikes!

Especially since the heir to the throne is already on the roster...
We will go from 4 to 12 to 8. Mark it down!

I think you're joking, but I agree with that.
Have you boys been drinking already?
Boylermakers.

Draft mandate: get a fucking receiver. Get 3 maybe. These stiffs (aside from Adams) arenβt cutting it. Rodgers doesnβt make receivers great anymore, which is fine, so get him some talent so they can elevate each other. Oh find a TE too.
WR, TE, ILB need to be the first three picks...BPA at those spots.
Adams is only real WR...Graham and Lewis should be gone at TE...Goodson and Burks stink and Martinez might walk for bigger $$.

I think Tonyan would be decent if given a chance. Rodgers likes his guys and Bobby ainβt one of them.

G. Allison WR 26 $2,800,000

B.J. Goodson ILB 27 $730,552
I. Campbell SS 28 $720,000
Blake Martinez ILB 26 $680,848
Boo-lager will be back if he comes in at a reasonable salary. He may have a couple good years left. I could see them cutting him free.
Gotta think Tramon is gone based on aging out..though one year deal may be in the making
I expect Crosby to be back at a reasonable salary
Allison will be back, they just like him too much, and it will be at a reasonable salary
Adios Marcedes...although he's our best backup OT
Grant is cheap, but hasn't shown me anything yet
Fackrell will be gone...we have too much money invested in the Smiffs and Gary
Goodson I think will beback
Campbell will be back
Martinez will probably get way more money than the Packers are willing to spend...and that's probably a good thing fo us. We need a serious ILB upgrade in terms of athleticism
Allison is stealing money. He will be replaced by a cheap draft pick

Bryan Bulaga: I'd imagine GB will resign him. He's good when healthy.
Tramon Williams: It's probably time to retire.
Mason Crosby: Need to resign this guy.
G. Allison: He sucks. I wouldn't let him play for free.
Marcedes Lewis: Let him walk. There's young talent on the roster.
Ryan Grant: Not even sure what this guy can or can't do.
Kyler Fackrell: He'll get paid elsewhere. Can he play MLB??
B.J. Goodson: Don't give a shit about this guy one way or the other.
I. Campbell: Resign if its cheap. Dime a dozen player.
Blake Martinez: We can't afford him. Gute needs to find 2 MLBs.
Gotta cut Graham to create cap space too.
Agree Parkz. Need to resign Bulaga and Mason. Yeah, Bulaga gets hurt, but his production even playing 12 games is really hard to replace.
I think we sign 1 or 2 guys via Free Agency and then keep trying to plug holes via the draft. If Gute can hit another draft like this years with 2 immediate starters, we will be a lot closer.
Pressing Holes to fill:
- #2 WR
- Defensive End
- Two MLB's
- CB
Other Holes:
- TE depth, will be left with Turdberger and Tonyan
- Swing Tackle
- Interior OL (Depth or possibly supplant Linsley)
- RB. Both Williams and Jones are FA the following year.
PFF 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Tua Tagovailoa lands in Green Bay
Tua is a hard player to figure out. The results are there, but his supporting cast has been so great that it's hard to figure out who was making who better. I think he's a good QB in the mold of Russell Wilson and sitting behind Rodgers for the next 3 years would probably help polish is game as a passer. Tough call, I would say no just because I don't think he's actually an insane value here compared to 2005 with Rodgers. I don't think he's as good of a QB prospect as Mahomes and Watson were in '17, who went 10 and 12, and I don't think he's as good of a prospect as Lamar Jackson who shockingly went 32nd in '18. I think he's right behind them and 27 might be about right in terms of value, but I think there will be better values available later. If he's available in Round 2 then we're definitely on to something.

Availability is a trait you have to scout. He's started 24 games in college and has had to have high ankle surgeries twice and fractured his hip. This is while being protected by an offensive line that dominates most teams they play against and being surrounded by skill position players that are high NFL draft picks.
I'd be worried about his durability once he gets to the NFL. When his OL isn't light years ahead of the pass rushers on the opposing defense, he's likely to take even more hits.
If he doesn't get flagged by teams' medical staffs, he'll probably be long gone by the time the Packers pick. He's a great prospect, but I'd be scared he's going to spend a lot of time in the training room once he has to play regularly.
I agree.... too risky for round 1
We need an ILB and by our pick in Round 2 of the draft next Spring, many may be gone. At #27, I'd pick Kenneth Murray, of Oklahoma. A solid ILB with sideline to sideline coverage skills and speed, Murray could fill the void if Martinez or Burks is released or traded. As for WR, Jerry Jeudy will probably be gone by our pick. Laviska Shennault, Henry Ruggs or Cee Cee Lamb may be there at #27. All of these WRs will be gone before we pick in the 2nd round. Two O line guys who may fit the Packers are Calvin Throckmorton, Oregon and Trey Smith, Tennessee. Throckmorton and Smith play both OG and OT. They may be available after Round 1, as well.
I like Murray too.
Jeudy will be long gone by 27. Lamb and Ruggs could be too. But the quality depth is supposed go through to RD3. I wouldn't mind a ILB at #27 but he's got to be an impact looking dude. Is Murray that dynamic? Would he go higher if there weren't as many WRs and potential QBs going in RD1?
Are we trading up from #32 to #27?
always need cb, but remember we still have kadarr holmann on redshirt year.

Yup,Blake and the 32nd for the 27th

You don't take John Michael with Tony Brackens on the board.

Kad, Chandon and Tony are great stories but if a guy like Wade is there, don't pass, IMO.
PackerHawk posted:Are we trading up from #32 to #27?
Just saying 27 is where the mocks have us drafting in the 1st round. 32 would be better, for sure!
King hasn't exactly ruled over his side of the field so I could see adding a blue chipper there if available in RD1. Just tough to do that with greater needs elsewhere.
YATittle posted:WR in second round and fourth round. Calling it. ILB first round. Bye bye Blake.
If they can land Murray from OK, I'm all for it. Any other ILB's you like in the 1st? I could see maybe Jennings from Alabama, but he has a recent knee injury....not a chaser like Murray is.
I would also be fine with Raekwon in the 1st, if he slides. A run-stopper like him would be a fine addition to the DL.
DH13 posted:King hasn't exactly ruled over his side of the field so I could see adding a blue chipper there if available in RD1. Just tough to do that with greater needs elsewhere.
I could also see a corner in the first, if the right guy is there, and no ILB or DL available.
Saw a quote from Pettine recently that made me think they don't think as poorly of King as folks here do. Said he had things he wants back and things he needs to improve on, but seemed to almost imply some instances were also Safety related. Said they put CBs in tough spots a lot and that was also part of it. King has 1 more year on his rookie deal, so I'm betting they don't pour another R1 pick into the mix this year in the hopes that he turns it on fully in 2020. King might end up being a good player IF he can improve on the mental side because I see his instincts and awareness as huge liabilities right now. When he guess right on the route, he can stick and plays well, but when he guesses wrong (which is often IMO) he can't keep up.
I imagine this year they will look at R3 at the highest for a CB and possibly free agency for a slot CB. Lavert Hill from Michigan is a CB I like in that area. Supposedly he will run in the 4.4's, seems to stick to WRs pretty well.
As far as WRs go, I like this Jalen Reagor from TCU. Reminds me of Randall Cobb with Brandon Cooks speed. Looks like the best athlete on the field at all times. Looks like a candidate for the late R1/early R2 area (unless he shreds the workouts). Might be a good year to wait on a WR until R2 because of the depth, certain to grab some value.
I wouldn't rule out them looking at a RB early honestly. Aaron Jones and Jamal are going into contract years and depending on how he finishes the year I worry about a potential holdout from Jones. Keeping both might be too costly. Swift might make sense if he's available.
Good post, as always, Diggs...
Who would be your faves at inside linebacker?
Kenneth Murray from Oklahoma is the top guy and plays like a missile. I like him, but I think he's going to workout and likely won't make it to 27.
Dylan Moses is a quality Bama ILB, but he's coming off a torn ACL. Hard to burn a 1st on him knowing you're probably not getting 100% player in 2020. Hard to say his value, maybe will get a high 2 pick like Jaylon Smith?
I love Joe Bachie from Mich St., but will he be the same player off the roids? Dicey.
Anfernee Jennings is classified as an ILB, but I think he's an ILB in the same mold as Ahmad Brooks. He could play ILB in the NFL, but I think his best spot is going to be as an OLB in a 34. Reminds me A LOT of Ahmad Brooks. I'm guessing maybe round 2 or 3?
My favorite ILB is Miami ILB Shaq Quarterman. I think he's a true ILB, not a tweener or a hybrid Safety type that draftniks seem to be enamored with and overrate. He's a dog in the middle, he doesn't get much love because he's not blazing fast (probably 4.6-4.7) and he's not elite in coverage, but he's going to be a good run defender in the NFL. With a good workout he's a potential round 2 guy, with a mediocre workout probably round 4 guy.
We already have a slow round 4 guy
So far this season...
Blake Martinez: 118 tackles (2nd in the league), 2 sacks and a forced fumble.
Bobby Wagner: 115 tackes (3rd in the league), 2 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Look up Roquan Smith...
I'm wondering if Seahawk fans think Wagner is the worst linebacker in the league and should be replaced? Seen any Bare fans burning Roquan's jersey lately?
Take a damn look at what other MLBs are doing in the league when you're proclaiming how shitty Martinez is. Outside of Kuechly and Schobert, very few offer anything in coverage (Evidenced by zero passes defensed and zero interceptions by damn near all of them).
No, stats aren't everything but they do tell a good part of a story.
But, but, but... Martinez sucks because damnit I said so. STFU.
