Savage played a good game too.
Savage played a good game too.
But Savage sucks according to several posters on this forum
Savage has been way below par for the two previous seasons. This was his best game in years
Finally using him correctly plus he's healthy.
Contract season! He could be another HaHa ClitDix or maybe....just maybe he's going to put together a nice career starting in 2023
I swear every 2 or 3 minutes this game a 1st or 2nd year player was making a big play yesterday. Guess we better get used to that since there's like 30 of them on the team.
Best moves are often the ones you don't make. Fortunate the Bears got Claypool and the Packers got Reed.
Was Claypool even playing yesterday? Never heard his name.

I heard his name called when I was listening to the radio…he dropped a pass

He may be only playing for a contract, but there's a big difference.
HaHa's 40 time when he was drafted was 4.58.
Savage ran a 4.36.
Savage can recover from his mistakes much better than HaHa could from his.
Gutey's previous two drafts and UDFAs are looking very, very good.
2022 draft picks or UDFA that contributed yesterday: Quay, Wyatt, Doubs, Zach Tom, Enagbare, Ford, and Toure.
2023 draft picks or UDFA that contributed yesterday: LVN, Musgrave, Reed, Carlson, Wooden, Brooks, and Valentine. Also saw appearances by Wicks and Heath.
Not to mention the obvious breakout by Gutey's biggest pick: Jordan Love.
And I know I'm missing others.
Make no mistake about it: we have a team that is hungry and competitive - even while we are carrying a considerable amount of dead cap space - because Gutey & Co. have done a great job building this roster.
I said before the game. GB's roster is still better than CHI's, as is the coaching staff. They should win this game unless Fields goes off.
The newer younger DL did a really good job of keeping him contained and providing pressure up the gut.

Just a point of clarification. There are 2 guys named "Ford" on the team. DL Jonathan Ford is the draft pick and he is on the PS and did not play yesterday. S Rudy Ford is a pick up from last season and he is the one who played.
It was mentioned that Claypool dropped a pass. According to the gamebook (from NFL), Claypool was targeted 2 times but with no catches.
Claypool also missed/half-assed a few blocking assignments on WR screens.

PFF had a segment on the game where they said there was a player on the Bears who should never be let back onto the field because he put in zero effort and didn't even try the entire game. They wouldn't say who it was but it was obviously Claypool.
If you watch the highlights of the game he is literally doing nothing. Even his routes in the pass game he was basically just jogging and half assing his cuts. How he is out there over EQSB I have no idea.
I was looking for that info. Thanks Boris!
A little history.....hindsight always 20/20

Sometimes the best moves....are the ones you DON'T make.

This is interesting to say the least.
So the Packers better tell the Jets we will relinquish the 1st round pick if you guarantee the 2nd and a 4th or 5th. .
Nothing to relinquish

Lot of dominoes to watch for a month+
Semantic grey zone.
Read it. We eventually get the 2nd.
True, but Jets can't trade the 1st before the trade deadline unless Packers agree. So make them pay if they want to do that.

Yea, me too on that one.
Best GM in the league... For drafting for other teams.. pic.twitter.com/9wrL0akTSk

Blah, blah, blah, FRONT OFFICE, blah, FRONT OFFICE, blah, blah, FRONT OFFICE, blah.
Murphy drafted Gary.
Micah Hyde, IMHO, was the biggest mistake. If they just would have moved him to safety and gotten rid of Ha Ha we would have still been reaping the benefits! Of course that was Ted and MM's doing.
Ted really liked Haha. Unfortunately Haha could play very well at times but he was like Roger Dorn (Corbin Bernson) of Major League movie fame.
"I'm not about to ruin this property (points at his own face) for a collection of stiffs."
Haha was collecting a paycheck. Bounced around to the Bears and Redskins etc at the end continuing to collect a check as long as he could without killing himself.

He played meaningful snaps for the Bears in 2019. Out of football in 2020 then was on the Raiders in 2021 & Denver where he was mostly inactive.
The dude is only 30 years old right now. Turns 31 in December. If he dedicated himself to the game he'd still be playing.
Haha would still be playing or convincing the media he'd be available to the team by the playoffs. Injuries happen, players make business decisions, and life goes on. Hopefully he's found his life's work.
Several year into his tenure and he is looking like a massive flop. His grand plan to draft Rodgers replacement and build his legacy has produced one of the worst rosters in the league. We were SB contenders and he drafts a backup QB Love, a backup RB Dillon, and a complete waste of space Dequara. So this shit show you see is his master plan for life without Rodgers. Sorry, but like Rodgers, I would have preferred players who could contribute to the SB aspirations.
Then, to compound his horrific drafting and alienating the franchise QB, he is too much of a pussy to trade him while his value was highest.
He couldn’t have flubbed this situation any worse. He built for the future while we were contending and ended up building a pile of shit.
MLF isn’t looking great, but he is good enough to lead a team with #12 to back to back 13 win seasons. Point being, we have seen that he is capable of letting a talented team win. (Rodgers, Adams, Jones, Bahk) This is clearly not a talented team.
Not totally defending Gute, but they have the youngest roster in the league. Their entire receiving corps (TE included) have hardly had any real game experience. Losing the franchise LT after one game a Jones for the past four has only exacerbated the offensive woes.
Today they lose by two and their rookie kicker misses a very makeable FG. I’m more disappointed with what seems like lack of preparation. And that would seem to be mostly on coaching. But young players are gonna “young”.
Recall all the angst AR would have about lack of preparation, mental mistakes, and simplifying the playbook. Yeah, he covered a lot of warts. You can’t plat high school offense against NFL defenses.
