Gutekunst has picked more than a few OL in his drafts. The decline seems to be aligned with the change in coaches.
Just imagine what it might look like at Lambeau today if GB was not blessed with a top 5 GM.
This ass whooping from the sub 500 opponent is happening on our home field.
This roster and coaching staff are really bad.
Smartest guy in the room
lets see what happens when they pick top 5 and he picks a project
Pick #13 from this draft is averaging less than 1 tackle a game.
Gute has turned this Org into the Raiders. A bunch of super fast athletes that can’t play football. Amazing high jump and a propensity to commit penalties.
And 3 years ago we were the slowest team in the league on both sides of the ball. How would you like to die?
Peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather, not screaming like the passengers in his car.
That's a sad catalog of jokes.
How else do you expect me to deal with the shitshow that the 2023 Packers are other than with dark humor?
I do have to be sober in the morning, after all.

The same group played much better last season.
Gute has been building for this season since the day he drafted Love. Let that sink in….. This shit show you see is his master plan.
Im torn on if I want him fired or not because that would just mean Murphy picks the next guy.
I think we’re fucked with no hope for a couple years.
ROBGT
Upcoming schedule
Rams
at Steelers
Chargers
at Lions
Chiefs
It's already ugly, but if they don't win next week against the Rams (and I don't think they will), they will likely be looking at a 2-10 record and a 9 game losing streak.
The last 5 games are all winnable, even for the shitty team they are this year (at Giants, Bucs, at Panthers, at Vikings with no cousins, Bears).
Probably the worst thing that could happen is to go into those last 5 games at 2-10 and then win 3 of the last 5 so that the narrative in the front office is that they have "momentum."
Unless the show some life the next 5 games, they need to burn the whole thing down and start over.

I think one more year and Murphy hits mandatory retirement.
Right. Thus the “couple of years”.
Maybe the best thing for our future is to retain Gute and staff for one more year. Then Murphy leaves and the new guy can pick his own front office.
5 picks in the top 90 and probably close to $50mm in cap space next year. No excuses.

Terrific. Now we find out our GM is dyslexic.
Brian Gutekunst wasn't looking to trade, but Bills called him couple days ago, and offer "too good to pass up." Asked if his outspokenness was factor: "Not at all. Rasul has been a very good leader for us, a very positive leader for us. It really had nothing to do with that."

Brian Gutekunst says Jordan Love has had "ups and downs" like rest of #Packers offense, but overall: "I think he's done a lot of good things. Really like how he's responded to the adversity."

Asked Brian Gutekunst if this was what he expected through 7 games. He says he tried not to place expectations on anything, still hopeful long term: "Everybody is frustrated, but at the same time nobody has stopped working. As long as they do that, the results will come in time."

Brian Gutekunst says youth isn't excuse at this point in season, but young players need "scars" in NFL: "We haven't had the results that we've wanted. We'd like the results to come fast -- don't get me wrong -- but at the same time the things they're going through are important."

There's some legitimacy in players needing to be battle tested. But not scarred. The Cleveland Browns have scars.
Gutekunst: “Josh Myers is playing the best football since he’s been here. He’s playing very, very well.”

How many GM's in the NFL had Josh Myers rated ahead of Creed Humphrey when Gutey took Myers and that team that knows nothing over in KC took Humphrey with the very next pick?
If fans expect a mea culpa from Gutey regarding Myers, they just have not been paying attention to how the "smartest GM in the NFL" conducts his business.
Probably overcompensating for his failure to draft Creed Humphrey.
If someone were to do a full analysis of every decision every GM has made. You would find a mix of good/bad moves across the board. If you considered everything (including relative draft positions) and came up with rankings I’d bet Gutey would still grade out pretty well overall.
It’s really easy to zero in on each decision but that doesn’t show the whole picture. It’s short sighted.
Gute’s and the scouts biggest successes from 2018-2021 were bringing in new experienced NFL players like the Smith brothers, Amos, Turner, Rasul, etc. They were excellent on that front when they had cap room.
The below average drafting sabotaged all the excellent work on pro personnel evaluation. With poor college talent evaluations, they weren’t able to supplement what they already had and also caused a huge cap problem. The only thing that could have saved them is if they would have hit the jackpot with Love being a franchise QB. Sadly, so far it looks like Love will fall significantly short of what it would take to make up for all the other poor draft picks.

yep, this guys is preparing us for his 're-signing' - get ready for it. smartest guy in the room baby!
Nice to see Brylcream is still in business.
A little dab'll do ya
To be fair, let's break down Gutey's sentence. "The best football since he's been here." A 1 out of 100 is better than a 0 out of 100, no? Maybe he's making sure he's wiping his butt sweat whenever he's on the sidelines. Surely that's worth 1 point.

the grade should be based on the team on the field. this team sucks and trading douglas for the equivalent of a fourth round pick doesn’t make it better

Agree. Gute is a big part of the problem.
