@H5 posted:The information posted on this board was that Gutekunst wanted to trade Rodgers to Denver for a Kings ransom after the back-to-back MVP seasons.
Thanks all for the clarification. The dates are starting to meld together as I age.
Need to also give Murphy credit for the #1 seed for two consecutive years....and a grand total of a single playoff win. Regular season MVPs are pretty meaningless when you shit the bed in the postseason.
None of it matters if he plays like crap against K.C.
You know the drill. Keep playing hard. It would be great to have Jaire and Stokes back for this game.
This post should be in the Carrington Valentine thread. For historical purposes

If he picks off Mahomes will Wayne or Larry say "it's Valentine's Day in Green Bay?"
Any chance the next SB is Feb. 14?

Helluva job by Gutenfarter in last year's draft.
I also like how Gute continuously churns the bottom of the roster to improve depth. This signing today could be interesting:

Something Ted didn't do often enough. Standing pat way too often...
Ted did just fine until he lost his faculties in 2014/2015 timeframe.
Gute has done well but TT would wipe the floor with him over same timeframe.

It is so rare for this to happen, but it sure looks like all 5 of top QBs taken in the 2020 NFL Draft are franchise quarterbacks.

• Joe Burrow: No. 1 pick
• Tua Tagovailoa: No. 5 pick
• Justin Herbert: No. 6 pick

Damn, these guys may rival the 1983 class.

Deguara????? Jake Hanson????
🤭
If *IF* Love completes the Favre/Rodgers/Him trifecta that is absolutely an A+ draft class.
Breaking: Pat McAfee just admitted he was wrong about Gutekunst picking Love.

I just about spit out my Diet Coke.
I hope he didn't say that to Rodgers. Wait, I hope he did.
I hope he did!
Boris is quick on the trigger! You beat my immediate edit!
I'm fired up for the Packer Bear game. I hope the Packers don't disappoint on Sunday.
The question is the same, it's just evaluated a little differently now that we know more about Love.
Was it worth BG spending his RD1 pick on Love when the team was so close to a SB in the next following years? Could a RD1 WR or OL gotten the team past SF or TB in the NFCCGs? Is that worth more than your new franchise QB? Probably not.
Is a SB win with AR in one of those years worth losing Love? Right now we probably say no but if Love never wins a SB,......?
Whatcha gonna say when Love wins 2?

Credit to him.
Why stop there? Beat Brady's record!

A lot of people point to Tee Higgins instead of drafting Love. The real selection would've been the Bears Jaylen Johnson instead of Love, thereby having Jaylen in the game instead of Kevin King just before the halftime.
NOW answer the question....is #14 worth more than J-Love? 🤔
Also don't forget BG traded up to get Love too (4th rounder I believe)
Outside of Burrow and Herbert there is not a single player in that draft I would choose over Love. Drafting another young WR for 12 to ignore for a whole year doesn’t change my mind on that.
Some people are too much of a pussy to admit they were wrong.

I'll answer the second question. No.
Thinking we were ever one rookie away from a Super Bowl is fools gold. It's one of the dumbest takes in all of sports. People have the benefit of hindsight with all these picks (including Love). The *only* reason people say "We could of had Tee Higgins!" is because he happened to turn out half way decent. We just as likely could have drafted Isaiah Wilson (OT, 1st round, 29th overall in 2020) who only played in 1 game in his entire career and is already out of the league because he was so bad.
With all the vets we had on the team back then, you don't expect rookies to start over vets. Rodgers would have much rather thrown to the guys he trusted, and he was never a guy later in his career that threw to rookies much unless he had to.
Yes, a rookie would have contributed more than Love did. But they also would have made rookie mistakes that could have cost us games well before the NFCCG. It goes both ways. We'll never know.
Now what happens if they don't draft Love, Dillon and Deguara and go for need instead?

Yes. 14 would be worth it. You would have had that pick, the 4th rounder and probably wouldn’t have drafted Dillon early either.
If Rodgers retired we could have brought in a different vet to groom a different QB for 2 years. Rodgers is a total piece of shit according to 90% of you, so wouldn’t it be better to have a quality human mentor a new QB? Oh, the piece of shot human opinion doesn’t apply to this scenario. Sorry.
May I suggest therapy?
Jeezus @BrainDed I don't think 90% think he's a POS, egocentric, my way or the highway....yes but most at that level are 🤷♂️
I don't begrudge the guy anything. Just happy we won a title with him and all the fun along the way. Happy he's a NY Jet now too. Enjoy life and smile a little more. It's too short
Boris, in hindsight maybe Johnson would have been worth it at that time. But there equally could have been a revolt if Gutey spent another 1st round pick on a DB. Everybody then was thinking another offensive weapon and in hindsight there really wasn't one other than Higgins.
at least we can't say 23 teams passed on Jordan Love if he turns into a hall of fame player.

Rodgers isn’t a douchebag. He’s just a dumbass. Best description I’ve heard for Rodgers is, Rodgers is what dumb people think a smart guy sounds like.
I know that I am not dumb and I think AR is a pretty smart guy. Total recall of stuff that happened 15 years ago. Pretty smart in my book. He would definetley beat me in Jeaporday. Even if I was given the answers ahead of time. But maybe Times four is filled with Savants. Who knew?
