Two weeks ago conservative killed us. Loss. This week a blitz burned us. Loss There is no compensation like overcompensation, I assume Dom will break out the 11 drop back in zone (10 on the perimeter, 1 shadowing the QB. He'll call it the inverted "U") defense next week. It will cause 7 turnovers and the Pack will win by 30. Dom commits to it because it works, defense will get crushed for the rest of the season. Side note, I think Fackrell will be a player for us. Re: Playoffs

If you're just looking at numbers next to their team names, sure. But who have these teams played? What are their strength of schedules? You will see that WSU got beat by E. Washington and doesn't have a single good win on their record- I don't even know how they're ranked. They fattened up on the weak underlings of the conference and lost every game against a team that didn't suck. Utah has losses to Cal and Oregon (both really bad teams) in addition to losses to Washington and Colorado.

And the note above blaming it on young UDFAs ignores the fact that Hawk and Bostic, the two responsible for the biggest stupid plays, don't fit that category. Brad Jones on the field goal doesn't either.

While Treadwell continues to get nothing accomplished Jason Spriggs is learning how to play guard. Might have been a good selection for Minny Rick has free wheeled his way to 9 first round picks over the last 5 years. His team sucks. He has no first rounder next year. I hope Rick gets a nice extension. Its also important to note the Vikings have never won a Super Bowl.

Re: Are you "feeling it" NOW? +/- Seahawks WIN!

DocBenni ·
I have to admit, I didn't see this coming. At 4-6 I was all about losing out, getting rid of all coaches/GM, and hoping for a great draft. I'm not sure they will pull it off, but I'm all in after this. I just wonder where this type of play was during the skins/colts/titans stretch. (I'm sure someone can pull up that previous post if need be) I stand corrected and I guess it just goes to show that Dr's don't know as much as they think. On a side note, I was at the Schitcago game at Lambeau...

Were the non-believers actually 'non-believers' or just commenting on how bad this team has played for a very large chunk of this season? Regardless, it was maybe the clubs best performance in years and I will say the conclusion of this season has a familiar ring to it so far. Schedule also couldn't be set up any better. Obviously the major concern is 12's leg but maybe one-legged 12 is better suited for these conditions? Note the above is sarcasm.

Note to self. If you ever decide to open a cable provider company. Middle of Montana is a great target market. I picture thousands of residents wandering the middle of Montana in Viking Super Bowl Champion hoodies thinking they play in an outdoor stadium that was paid off 30 years ago. Tragic.

Grave Digger ·
I'm just thrilled receivers are getting open, it was such a rare sight for half the season. Perhaps Rodgers just doesn't believe what he's seeing! On a more serious note, I think the biggest difference between the 4 game losing streak and the 7 game winning streak is all just the attitude of the team. We can go back and look at the all-22 for the entire season and I'm sure we will see instances where Rodgers fukked up, where the receivers fukked up, where the called play was dumb, where the...

Re: Round 1 Pick 26 (From Miami) QB Jordan Love Utah State

chickenboy ·
On a serious note, if the braintrust sees Love as a special talent and all their other first-round projections were off the board, they made the correct choice. I will also add, we all see the decline in 12's game. I watched a replay of the Pitt Super Bowl and 12's arm strength just jumped off the screen and I am not sure if he has that anymore and maybe the club sees more physical decline soon. Note 12 is still elite (IMO) but obviously the club felt Love was too good to pass on. Another...

From the same article: One last note: Gutekunst said the Packers had two receivers they were targeting in early and middle part of the second round. They tried to move up with several teams, he said, until the second receiver they preferred got picked, and then they stopped. Seven wideouts went in the first 27 picks of the second round; Green Bay, with the 62nd overall pick, took running back A.J. Dillon. Not good. As much as the draft pick itself, the price for Love included not addressing...

Re: It's LIONS week!

PackLandVA ·
This is not a "means nothing" game for Detroit. They have the ability to directly impact the playoffs in addition to beating a division rival and ending their season on a positive note. They will come out fired up is my guess. If the Pack can get up early, then the Lions will fold up shop and quit. Otherwise, the longer they stay in the game, the harder a Packer victory will become. Should be an easy win, "but that's why they play the game".

I read somewhere a while back that in the earlier days (1930s and 40's) both teams, at different times, were facing bankruptcy. At one point Curly Lambeau lent George Halas money to keep the Bears going, and at another point Halas did the same thing for Curly. I don't remember who was first, or how much money was involved, but both knew how important each team was to the other, pretty much from the beginning. I'm going to look around a bit and see if I can find the story, and if I can, I'll...

I've always been a fan of canning Capers but his group actually has performed well at times this year when there have been other years when what is going on now is the norm (yes, GB, the 15-1 year when you stated 'hey, they're winning!'). There seems to be enough issues with the offense to call this rough patch 'equal opportunity sucking' so I personally don't think canning him now with affect anything. But I will also note I wouldn't be upset if they did.

The defense didn't crap the bed today, although they left a few skidmarks. The offense, OTOH, chit it full. Our 'vaunted' OL, the one that's "maybe the best we've had in XXX years", sucks ass. Daktari (THE best finger-pointer in the league!) and Bulaga are pussies, all of a sudden Linsley can't pull his head out of his ass, and Lang is teetering between suck and serviceable. Only Sitton is playing with any kind of consistency. Take note on EVERY running play, we will see 3-4 of our OL...

All fair and valid points, but we should also include the '87 and '88 seasons. I'll largely give a pass to the '87 season because of the player's strike (one game cancelled, 3 games played with 'replacement' players) and it being his rookie year. He did start 5 games (went 2-2-1), and had 5 TDs/3 INTs. It should be noted also that this was Gregg's last year as HC. The '88 season was not any better. He split starts with Randy Wright (who was even worse), went 3-6 in 9 starts, and had 9 TDs...

I can't blame Luc. Once the Tribe told him he wouldn't be a catcher next year, that would drastically hurt his value. He used what little leverage he had to make sure he got the best deal for himself, today and in two years when he is a free agent. Side note- Crazy the deals happening for relievers. I hope this whole Tribe mess didn't keep Stearns from moving guys like Smith or Jeffress.

And they have been able to get away with playing Nickel as their base defense, using only 2 D-lineman, one of our thinnest positions.

This has been a pleasant surprise. I was concerned about the d-line depth with Raji quitting, Pennell's suspension, Clark being a rookie, and Datone being moved. Not only are Daniels and Guion playing very well, but the elephant ends are really setting the edge in the run defense, and our ILB play has jumped significantly . Gives added benefit, stop the run in base nickel plus you are schematically in a better fit to defend the pass.

Out of everything I have read about this, I still see no sense in this move. As someone noted above about TT leaving the safety position weak with the Woodson cut a few years ago, it does appear that every year he leaves one area of the team weak for either money concerns or his stubbornness in keeping his young and unproven guys. Obviously time will tell if this was the correct move but if AR spends this year running for his life due to inept play on the line or injuries (where having both...
